Absolutely Underperforming Ret Pally Seeking Guidance

Hello friends!

 

I am new to the raiding game, and utilized the group finder to find a normal HM to run since my guild doesn't raid until later in the week.  I got in there with another Ret Pally that was 14 iLvls below me and was kind of embarrassed by him/her when they are in PvP gear.

 

So, I am here in hopes that I might get some specific advice for me on how I can get my DPS up to a more competative level so that I don't find myself at the bottom of the pile and dismissed from the party due to underperformance.

 

I'm looking for help on my rotation specifically, since I am still working on gearing up, though I am at 639 after getting one piece of loot from the group tonight.

1)Give us armory linc and worldoflogs/warcraftlogs - it is better, easier to read.

2)Enchant your gear - weapon,rings,neck,back.

3)You dont have t5 talant or its site bug. T1 talant Speed of Light and T4 - Unbreakable Spirit better for most raid situations.

4)You dont have glyph, or site do not show it to us.

5)You probably use wrong rotation. CS more often, exo less, Your prio CS>Judgement>Exo. Dont use Exo procs, they do nothing. Read guide for full rotation.

6)Do not use your heals often, it's dps loss, couse you waste global cd for heal.

7)Go to warcraftlogs and worldoflogs, look for other paladins logs. You find lot of intresting info - what talant they prefer, what skill or seal for each fight. For example - sometimes better use Light Hammer, not Execute sentence(Koragh fight).

I just wasn't sure whether it was worth enchanting gear before I got it significantly higher.  For some reason, my logs wouldn't register my raiding last night, so I did a quick dummy run this morning.  I only used a +100 Mastery food buff.  I know that dummy DPS will be lower than raid DPS, so I'm hoping that I'm not doing too terribly.

 

Otherwise, I did try to take the given information into account. I did tend to favor Exo when it woudl proc, but ignored it on this dummy fight unless it was needed to get quickly to 5 HP.

Enchat always good idea. Enchant LFR/Normal gear with cheap ones, and if you will get heroic/myth - chant it with good ones, couse for heroic you need 20k dps, and for myth around 25-30k, and you want anything what will up your dps.

 

Dont forget about flask for 250 main stat(str for you, cost not much) and potions for 1k strenght(2-5gold per 1 potion). You coud use potion BEFORE fight starts(many ppl start count before pull), and another one 2 min later with your "wings". If you dont have money, you coud use your garrison garden to generate herbs what you need, and ask someone in your guild make potions for you.

 

Also i recomend you use glyph of double jeopardy and switch targets when you can as often as you can(ogrons,imperator,tectus and keep staks of your seal). And exorcism glyph, so you will cleave nearest targets for 25% of dmg, it will up your dps a bit. For butcher better switch exo for divine protection and absorb dmg with it.

So your glyph shoud be - TV, Exo, Jeopardy. If you fight butcher you coud switch exo and jeo for other glyphs.

 

About logs - looks better, u did more dps than you have in raid. Also your spell % per fight looks right.

I dont inderstand what you mean telling "quickly 5hp" - other spells(CS,judge,hammer of wrath) was on cd, so u cast exo? If yes - its totaly okay, you did right. If you cast it when one of this spells wasnt on cd - its not right.

 

PS: if u HAVE gold, you coud buy trinket http://www.wowhead.com/item=118882but it cost around 100k at my server. Use it with yoru wings+potions.

I just wanted to pop back in and say, "Thank you, Elarion!"  I ran an LFR earlier tonight and pushed out almost 19K DPS on Brackenspore without using any potions or flasks.  The only buffs I had were the typical party buffs and my +100 mastery food buff. I'm sure I could push that up to at least 20K with potoins and flasks.

 

I wish I had the gold for that trinket, but hopefully I'll come across something comparable just through typical play or find a better deal on my realm.  It was going for about 70K when I looked at the AH earlier.
