Yanlin 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 I've got a few weapons that I've been debating on for a while, and I'm torn on how to proceed. I've been using a pair of Bloodied Hand of Wow. Sunnier's Art of War blog says to go with the higher iLvl weaponry, though, which would boost my DPS, health, and give me a touch more Dodge....but sacrifice Mastery and Vers, essentially giving me more health and damage, but reduce my damage mitigation. Using the new weapons I'd gain 18 Agility, 27 Stamina, 60 haste, and 59 crit, but lose 44 Versatility and 91 Mastery. A 0.07% increase dodge, a 0.51% reduction to Mastery, and a 0.17% reduction in mitigation from Vers. So as I said, increased health, decreased mitigation. My big question is, is the added health and DPS worth it for a tank? Or should I stick with my lower level weapons to keep my mitigation up until I get something with proper bonus stats? Brady84 4 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) How does your lower ilvl have more secondary stats :/ 135 compared to 119 ? Agi/Stamina have a static increase per ilvl but your secondarys should also scale in a similar way (ie all 655 weapons have 90agi 136st & 120 secondarys) & increase by 0.93 | 1.33 | 1.2 | per ilvl EDIT: Didnt read properly Assuming your swapping 1 of them for the LFR weapon You gain 7agi 11st 59crit and lose 6 mastery and 48 versatility (the versatility is not for mitigation its for dps/extra healing, over the course of a full 7/7N run + trash 0.17% mitigation is ~ 60k TOTAL less than 1% mana from 1 healer a fight) if not what are the 2 other weapons? Yanlin 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 Vers grants healing and DPS, then half the same value in damage reduction. (IE: 2.5% increase in Heal/damage, 1.25% reduction in damage taken), according to the tooltip. But it's a 636 + 630 Bloodied Hand of Woe (socket and leech on the 630), as compared to a 651 + 640, though that's changed now (got a piece in HM Normal.) 655 + 651 now. Yea AGI and STA go up, but ultimately I'm losing 44 Vers (-0.17% Damage Reduction), losing 74 Mastery (-0.42% Stagger). Gain is 72 Stamina and 0.12% dodge chance. Not as bad a trade off, but I'm still iffy about giving up damage reduction for more health.
Brady84 4 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) Agi is a flat increase to Dps/Attack power/dodge [which in turn increases guard/self heals] so you need to include those Also the damage increase on your weapons also affect dps & self-heals Your 44 versatility you need to look at from a dps/heal increase, 0.17% mitigation is worth 0 in the grand scheme, e.g. Butcher normal, say you take a total of 6m damage, that 0.17% is ~10k [or 33 less damage you take a second if the fight is 5min long] more stamina is infinetly better because your average healer doesnt care about 33 damage [as a resto, rejuv heals for 5-6k a tick every 2.5s] Mastery/Stagger granted is more useful your .42% now makes it ~25k less damage over the same fight So really for EVERY 1million damage taken the extra mastery/versatility means you take ~7k less trading that for ~ 7k more health, improved guard, more dodge, more DPS, more self-healing [and whatever other secondary stats you didnt mention] which is why unless your going to simcraft your TMI [or work out your stat weights and just simply add the total on your items up] etc you use the highest ilvl and then worry about stats when you have a choice at the same ilvl Edited January 11, 2015 by Brady84
