The Rate/Improve my deck thread.

This has been a really effective change. The data told me that your suggestions would work, but I underestimated how much difference these little changes would make.

Definitely worth the 500 dust for a Southsea Cap and a Mortal Strike. Dropped the Warsong Commander and one of the RRs as you suggested. I was previously stuck around ranks 12-13, but managed to push through to rank 10 and won 8 of my last 10 games. I see a rank 5 in my future and one of those sweet, sweet, golden epics. I've got 3 solid decks now (this, a MR Hunter, and a Token Shaman) so am able to adapt to suit the meta, which is nice.

That's good to hear, I'm glad it's working for you. :)

So, this is the first deck I've ever created from scratch. I magically got Bloodreaver Gul'dan out of my first 3 packs from the Frozen Throne expansion so tried messing around with it a bit. Here's my Guldan Experiment:

Bloodreaver Gul'danSacrificial Pactx2, Corruptionx2, Flame ImpVoidwalkerx2, Frostwolf Gruntx2, Novice Engineerx2, Drain Lifex2, Ironfur Grizzlyx2, Sense Demonsx2, Tauren WarriorVoid TerrorHellfirex2, Sen'jin Shieldmastax2, Booty Bay BodyguardFen CreeperDread Infernalx2, Siphon SoulOnyxia

For context, I don't have many cards at all (aside from some received by just dumb luck from random packs)... Neutral or otherwise and haven't really completed any of the adventures. At the moment, I've been getting mostly wins aside from some obviously well constructed decks that beat me down pretty quick (all under rank 20). Any tips or substitutions I should incorporate? I'm a nub more or less so any help is appreciated!

Heh. I remember I tried to put as many taunts as I could  in my first decks, too. It must be a common novice mistake. So, my first tip is understated taunts are never good in this game. They can't help you to win, only delay the loss for few turns. So start improving your decks by dropping all taunts but voidwalker and if your collection is really modest - sen'jin.  Sense demons is a bad card for warlock. Why? You spend 3 mana to get one card (you lose one and get two) while your heropower lets you to get one card for 2 mana. Sacraficial pack is a very bad card(it makes your own side of the board weaker!)  unless you can reliably eat opponent's demons and I doubt you face 50%+ warlocks. Corruption is usually bad, too. Enemy minion stays alive for a turn and can trade easily or just kill your face. I know that I butchered most of your deck at this point but it is necessary.  Novice engineer have a very weak body and is a bad card. Even if you weren't warlock there are better draw options like basic neutral gnomish inventor

I won't suggest you what to put in the deck instead because at this point it is like making a new deck from scratch but feel free to make a new deck without cards I listed as bad and post it here.

Thanks a lot for your help! Honestly the only reason I put in sacrificial pact was to kill off my own demons for the Bloodreaver Battlecry. Anyway, here is the changed deck I made:

http://www.hearthpwn.com/deckbuilder/warlock#36:2;43:2;74:2;85:1;119:1;122:2;246:2;289:2;326:2;332:2;340:2;432:1;573:1;604:2;647:2;31110:1;62851:2;62934:1;

I just got C'THun last night, and the rest I filled in with a card ranking system I found online (you nailed it right, I is nub) due to not having a great amount of cargo to choose from. Once again, anything is appreciated!

I understand that legendary cards are cool but you should resist a temptation to put any legendary you own to any deck. :) C'Thun needs a deck built around him and you better ignore him.

This deck is much better than the original one. However there are some problems. You need more cheaper cards to play early on, especially minions. I suggest to cut C'Thun (as I said needs a deck built around him) Frostwolf Warlord (It is not that bad card... but you need cheaper cards in there) Drain Life (this card doesn't do enough for its cost) Bluegill Warrior  (this 2 cost minion has awful stats and you'll rarely benefit from charge).

We are removing 7 cards here and it allows us to fix the main problem of the deck > not nearly enough two or three drops. I suggest to add four 2 mana minions neutral minions with 3-2 or 2-3 stats. Then add 3 mana minions. Razorfen Hunter or Shattered Sun Cleric are good basic options but you can use different ones.

There are many, many further improvements that can be made from this point but I think that changes above will give you a decent deck for enjoying your first legendary cards and practicing your game before learning how to make and play more complex decks.

Hello everyone, this is my first post to icy-veins, but I've followed this site from my first day at Hearthstone. I apologize if there was a better place to introduce myself, but I didn't find it.

However, I wanted to show you and ask for rate this deck I was using. It is a secret paladin deck based on my taste and my cardpool (I don't own any epic card of GvG set and I don't want to craft any, for example) I used for climbing from 15 to 5 with a near 70% winrate on EU. But now that KotFT is out and I reached rank 5, I wasn't able to rank anymore. So, what do you think about it? What would you change? Am I fool to use an old archetype to climb ladder? :)

I don't use standard midrange paladin as I don't own any other of the paladin's legendary. I own all adventures and I have a good pool of cards.

Thank you for the attention! :)

I would remove Fire Flies (value too low) and Sacred Trial (too situational and unreliable) for second Keeper of Uldaman, one Blessing of Kings and one Coghammer or second Blessing of Kings. This should improve your winrate against control decks which seem to be quite common, especially druid.

Hi, any opinion about my list ?

It's control oriented deck with many tools to protect against aggro. Im really well with it now, but i have some hard time with ramp druid's (honestly with all druids) and priest if draw bad. Also mirrors were tough  sometimes. Ill be glad for any suggestions and as always sorry for my english.

Cheers :)

Hi guys! After a few months of playing Pirate Warrior I decided to go with jade druid (my pirate warrior is stuck because of all those freeze mages at rank 13-14) here is the decklist. It doesn't have any cards from kharazan besides the enchanced raven because I don't own Kharazan and for now from the frozen throne because I don't know what to insert.

I don't see any jade cards. Are you sure you linked the correct deck?

Ah it is my mistake indeed, I meant to say druid deck. I have a few cards for jade but as I mentioned I miss Kharazan if it's possible to work without it I would be happy too haha.

Spreading Plague will rarely have high value. You should be trying to have more minions on the board at almost all times. Once you get behind, you can rarely catch back up, even with the help of Spreading Plague. You should go with a more proactive card.

Webweave is weak even in control druid. It does not fit into aggro druid at all and should not be played.

Grim Necromancer provides low value. Even with the synergies the deck provides, there are better cards to be used.

Fill the empty spots with 2x Bloodsail Corsair, 1x Patches the Pirate and 1x Bittertide Hydra or 1x Bonemare.

I know it looks chaotic and I am not taking that deck too serious but it works surprisingly well and is fun to play. Thoughts?

To be honest I can't see much potential in climbing the ladder.

Let's take Shadow Essence as an example: Yes, that can be an incredible powerful card (like in the priest-decks with little minions where chances are high for The Lich King or Obsidian Statue and later combined with the card that let you discover a minion that died).

But in your deck there isn't a single minion which would be great if it would be summoned.

Basically it gives you a 5/5 minion - for 6 mana.

Pracically every vanilla 6-mana-minion would be a better choice.

Neat!Curiosity made me try it for a few games and it's fun indeed.Got me the daily gold no problem!I have a feeling though that it is weak for the ladder.Maybe i will leave this to the experts! But good try tho!

Ha, funny how most are just looking for the raw ladder potential. As I said I am not taking it too serious, maybe it's just me being strange. Often all the decks you see and play are the same over and over, I tried to change a bit. Ofc it is not a ladder deck for higher ranks but it's not the same soup as all the perferct build net decks :)

I like that Karayan tried it at least :)

And positiv2, the goal of the deck is to enjoy a game I like, something wrong about that? ;)

No, but there aren't many "thoughts" (since that is what you were asking for) I can give if having fun is the goal of the deck. If it was "SMOrc the opponent" or "Stall the game and finish with some wombo combo", I would be able to help you achieve the goal more easily.

I understand you. I don't want a perfect "go for legend rank" deck but I still like to win but at the cost of changing the deck too much.

Maybe the way you have to think for a deck like this is to far away for you or too different :)

I have to be honest,i got a little bit disappointed recently by the ladder struggle,so i decided to chill a little bit and enjoy the game, cause after all that's why we play!Obviously everybody enjoys a win for the most variable reasons but what's left in the end is time spent doing something to distract us from reality. Not a single doubt, here you can find exceptionally skilled people who do all the hard work for us to enjoy this game with better results,so that's pure gold for me!

@CaldyrvanYour deck works surprisingly good until now 6W/1L!!

I am totally with you.

And I didn't want to offend anyone who tries to build a deck to be strong and competitive. I really appreciate the work of the people here and the decks they provide us with as well as the tips and tricks etc.

P.S. I have nice win rate with it too, 9/2 so far and one of the lost games was because I was distracted and made a horrible mistake, not the decks' fault ?

Well, I asumed you would refer to having success with the deck.

How can there be a suggestion considering "fun"?

Your Shadow Essence is a useless card in the deck - if you consider just the efficiency.

If you have fun playing the card you made everything exactly right: You have fun playing the game. That is just about the sum up of everything that is important in a game.

But what exactly are we supposed to suggest?

You are right, I asked for thoughts and then not willing to listen to it :D Sorry.

I already replaced the Shadow Essence with Eternal Servitude.

Maybe I was a bit unclear and well, it's obviously uncommon to craft decks to have fun. But maybe I was looking for some kind of improvement or additional synergies for the deck but without changing it completely.

Eternal Servitude provides even less value than Shadow EssenceTortollan Shellraiser is the only card that is worth the 4 mana you spend on Eternal Servitude. Any other minion is worth less than 4 mana, which means that even Chillwind Yeti is a superior choice. Consider cutting them for Thoughtsteal. They provide decent value while also being fun in my opinion.

Hearthstone is taking a bold step into the StarCraft universe with "Heroes of StarCraft: The Great Dark Beyond," a 49-card mini-set launching in January 2025.
Featuring iconic factions like Zerg, Protoss, and Terran, complete with legendary leaders Sarah Kerrigan, Artanis, Jim Raynor, this set blends StarCraft nostalgia with Hearthstone's gameplay.
Additionally, Arena Mode is getting a massive overhaul, introducing shorter Normal Arena runs and a high-stakes Underground Arena with a game matching "re-draft on loss" mechanic, giving you the option to re-draft cards, edit your deck, and keep your run alive, after you lose.
The year ahead promises 3 expansions, including the Emerald Dream's battle between Old Gods and Druids, a return to Un'Goro Crater, and a Chromie-led journey through alternate realities.
      (Source)
Hearthstone: Heroes of StarCraft – The Great Dark Beyond Mini-Set
Early next year, Hearthstone is going beyond Warcraft and into... Heroes of StarCraft! This special Mini-Set will have a whopping 49 new cards across three themed factions, which show what the StarCraft universe would look like in the Hearthstone Tavern. Each faction is made up of cards that can be used across multiple classes, including an iconic Hero card.
       Zerg
Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock have joined the Zerg! Led by the formidable  Sarah Kerrigan, they will have aggressive cards that win the game by swarming the board.
       Protoss
Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue fight for the Protoss Empire. Led by the High Templar Artanis, they will have powerful, high-cost cards that are made cheaper throughout the game.
       Terran
Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior make up the Terran forces, led by the one and only Jim Raynor. They will command Battlecruisers—a special take on the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond.
The Mini-Set will feature a slew of StarCraft units which are sure to invoke nostalgia, as well as the Terran-armored Murloc, Grunty, and new, thematic music. You can chart a course for the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching in January 2025! More announcements, details, and card reveals are coming closer to launch.
       Major Arena Updates
Then, for the first time in 10 years, Arena Mode is getting a major overhaul. With that update, there will be two kinds of Arena to choose from. Normal Arena will be shorter form, allowing you to complete your runs more quickly. Competitive Arena players will be able to play in the higher-stakes Underground Arena, with longer runs and a new feature: Re-Draft on Loss. Re-Draft on Loss means that, after you lose, you’ll have the option to re-draft cards, edit your deck, and keep your run alive.
Ratings will also be added to both Normal and Underground Arena. Normal, skill-based matchmaking will be used for Normal Arena. Underground Arena throws caution to the wind and lets you face off against opponents of all skill levels.
This major Arena revamp is coming in the first half of next year. Look out for more details about this update closer to when it goes live.
A Preview of the Year Ahead: The Year of the Raptor!
On top of those updates, Hearthstone has an exciting year of expansions ahead, with much-requested themes, locations, and familiar faces across Azeroth.
In the first expansion of the year, enter the Emerald Dream and join the battle between the Old Gods and the Druids of the Emerald Dream for the fate of the World Tree. Things will heat up even more when the Druids of the Flame light up the Mini-Set (releasing earlier than normal this year, during the 32.2 Patch).
The second expansion of the year will be Hearthstone’s first-ever sequel: the return to Un’Goro Crater! Join Elise on a hunt for a mythical, lost Tortollan city. When you find it, join the Tortollans in a festival to celebrate the mighty dinosaurs of the crater in the 33.4 Mini-Set.
In the third expansion of the year, travel with Chromie through alternate realities to recruit Legendary Warcraft heroes like you’ve never seen them before. Leading to the 34.4 Mini-Set: an epic showdown against Murozond at the end of time!

Today, we're recapping the four Shaman cards revealed by Gamespot. We also have some dev clarifications on how they work.
If you missed our previous Warrior recap, you will find it here.

What a way to kick things off; this card looks insane! The dream is that Drakuru takes out two of your opponent’s minions, resurrects them on your side, and survives combat somehow. You’re looking at a 5-for-1 exchange on board.
In the more likely scenario that it doesn’t survive, that’s still a complete flip of the board state. Even if it’s trading into a single big minion on the opponent’s side, that’s still a 2-for-1, with that 1 on your side being a big tough-to-kill minion. The only worry is that there will sometimes be late-game scenarios where the 6/8 stat line won’t be enough to get you any resurrections, but I’m hopeful those are few and far between.
Still, even if the Big Shaman archetype doesn’t catch on for Shaman, I expect this card, in particular, to find a home in Renathal Control Shaman lists. This card is doing much of the same work that Sylvanas and Insatiable Devourer are without having to run through the trouble of infusing first.

Once again, another big expensive card and a solid showy effect to go along with it. Obvious deathrattle/reborn synergy, as well as good with big minions in general. At 10 cost, it will take up your entire mana pool for the turn, though there are things you can do to play around that as a shaman.
We’ve gotten some clarification from the devs on the mechanics of this one:
All the copies summoned die at the end of the effect trigger after having attacked. Unfortunately, it won’t be some corruption-style aura effect that a cheeky Showstopper effect can silence off. Your copies are made from your hand from left to right until no more board spaces are available. Beware that Colossals will summon their appendages and take up potential board space from your other copies. Windfury minions will only attack. Sorry Drakuru, no double freebies for you ? Minions that enter Dormant won’t attack, but they won’t die either! The interaction of getting free dormant minion copies on board is interesting, but is there enough to build a deck around? In standard, there is Gangplank, Slimescale, and Pelican Divers, but outside of From De Other Side “synergy,” they might not be worth it. In Wild, at the very least, there is meme potential with getting Magtheridion and The Darkness out with this and getting their battlecries to awaken both copies when you play them out the turn after.
There’s obvious synergy with the other big cards revealed here, with Prescience loading up your hand with some beefy bois, getting get off reborn, lifesteal and deathrattle value, summon a minion from Overlord Drakuru.

That’s a lot of keywords for a single card, but they work together to become the stuff of nightmares for any board-based aggro deck. Taunt and lifesteal make this a nightmare to trade into, and even with enough removal to clear the main body and the reborn one, the deathrattle effect still will hit for 3 twice and heal you for 6. So while the 3 attack won’t be anything to write home about, plopping this down will buy you a good deal of time. There’s also the possibility to make use of the leftover reborn 3/1 body to evolve into a 9 or 10 drop.

This card will get you 2 Mana 2/3 Ghostly Apparitions with the Undead minion type, which can matter for cards like Unliving Champion, or Invincible, for instance. Suppose you trigger the secondary ability here both times. In that case, that’s a pretty sweet deal right there, advancing a Big Shaman win con in 2 ways: The taunt on the Ghostly Apparitions advances your gameplan of stalling the game out until you can stabilize on board enough to play the 5+ Mana minions you’ve tutored out of the deck.
We’ve theory crafted 3 potential builds that can use this package of Shaman cards.
First, consider diving head first into the Big Shaman theme, bringing in Vanndar Stormpike and forgoing all other sub-5 cost minions to get max value out of Prescience and From De Other Side. We’re also going to run with the evolve subtheme to take advantage of any leftover bodies that we might get from Stoneborn General, Overlord Drakuru, or Blighblood Berserkers. The departure of the Knights of the Frozen Throne set will make evolving 10 drops better again now that there are no more Snowfury Giants in the Evolve pool, and we get to re-roll for the generally better bodies from the 10 costs. We’re adding in some early-game removal to compensate for the lack of early drops so we can better survive the early game.

Next, let’s try to use the standard Renathal Control Shaman archetype that’s doing rather well in the meta as a starting point. One safe idea is to look at slotting Overlord Drakuru and potentially Brightblood Berskerker and From De Other Side into this standard XL Renathal Control Shaman as ways of fighting back on board while getting your infuse cards stacked up.

We could instead also try and drop all the duplicates from the list and convert it into a Reno deck, as the deck was already playing a lot of one-offs. That gives us just enough room for one of each of these bad boys, which together with Reno will up the turnaround potential of the deck at the cost of a little bit of consistency. Doing so we can end up with this list:

Why not use both and make it a Reno-thal deck? Prescience and Windchill will try to compensate for the loss of card draw from droping one copy of Gorloc Ravager and Famished fool. We are adding in Convincing Disguise to have still enough evolve effects around. The idea of including Bracing Cold and Far Sight is to hopefully discount From De Other Side or the evolve cards so we make use of any leftover bodies in the same turn. Ozumat’s in here not just to get us up to 40 cards, but because it’s a near guaranteed board clear combo with From De Other side, if you manage your hand and board space just right, that leaves you with all its appendages afterward.
