Best Weapons for Cyno

Listed below are Cyno's best weapons. While weapons are listed in a priority order, what's best to build on your Cyno can vary depending on the team composition and level of investment you want to put into Cyno.

Staff of the Scarlet Sands (R1) 113%

Heat Haze at Horizon's End

Base ATK: 542

CRIT Rate: 44.1%

The equipping character gains 52% / 65% / 78% / 91% / 104% of their Elemental Mastery as bonus ATK. When an Elemental Skill hits opponents, the Dream of the Scarlet Sands effect will be gained for 10s: The equipping character will gain 28% / 35% / 42% / 49% / 56% of their Elemental Mastery as bonus ATK. Max 3 stacks.

Cyno’s signature and strongest weapon, giving him a large Attack buff based off his Elemental Mastery.
Ballad of the Fjords (R5) 111%

Tales of the Tundra

Base ATK: 510

CRIT Rate: 27.6%

When there are at least 3 different Elemental Types in your party, Elemental Mastery will be increased by 120. / 150. / 180. / 210. / 240.

Thanks to the good amount of Crit and high EM Ballad of the Fjords provides, at R5 it is his second strongest weapon. It is still his strongest 4 star weapon even at R1, about 5% ahead of the best free to play option. Note that Ballad will not provide any Elemental Mastery if your team has less than 3 different elements, and should not be used in such teams.
Bloodsoaked Ruins 106%

Mournful Tribute

Base ATK: 674

CRIT Rate: 22.1%

For 3.5s after using an Elemental Burst, the equipping character's Lunar-Charged DMG dealt to opponents is increased by 36% / 48% / 60% / 72% / 84%. Additionally, after triggering a Lunar-Charged reaction, the equipping character will gain Requiem of Ruin: CRIT DMG is increased by 28% / 35% / 42% / 49% / 56% for 6s. They will also regain 12 / 13 / 14 / 15 / 16 Elemental Energy. Elemental Energy can be restored this way once every 14s.

This is a fantastic weapon for Cyno in Lunar-Charged teams - it’s lower damage than the above two weapons, but the Energy refund it provides can make it as good if not better, in situations like Stygian Onslaught where you start with no Energy.
Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (R1) 104%

Eagle Spear of Justice

Base ATK: 674

CRIT Rate: 22.1%

On hit, increases ATK by 3.2% / 3.9% / 4.6% / 5.3% / 6% for 6s. Max 7 stacks. This effect can only occur once every 0.3s. While in possession of the maximum possible stacks, DMG dealt is increased by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24%.

Cyno is able to stack the effect of this weapon relatively fast, making it a solid weapon option for him.
Deathmatch (R5) 104%

Gladiator

Base ATK: 454

CRIT Rate: 36.8%

If there are at least 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% and DEF is increased by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32%. If there are fewer than 2 opponents nearby, ATK is increased by 24% / 30% / 36% / 42% / 48%.

If you are getting a Battle Pass weapon for Cyno, it should be Ballad of the Fjords and not Deathmatch, unless Ballad’s passive does not work in your team. But if you already have Deathmatch, it’s a solid option for Cyno.
White Tassel (R5) 102%

Sharp

Base ATK: 401

CRIT Rate: 23.4%

Increases Normal Attack DMG by 24% / 30% / 36% / 42% / 48%.

Cyno’s highest damaging free to play weapon option.
Kitain Cross Spear (R5) 100%

Samurai Conduct

Base ATK: 565

Elemental Mastery: 110

Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 6% / 7.5% / 9% / 10.5% / 12%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 4.5 / 5 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.

Although this weapon deals lower damage than White Tassel, the difference is negligible. Since the difference in damage is small, Kitain Cross Spear is a more recommendable free to play weapon, as the Energy refund it provides will help tremendously in Stygian Onslaught.

Best Artifacts for Cyno

Night of the Sky's Unveiling 102%

Night of the Sky's Unveiling

2-Piece Set: Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.

4-Piece Set: When nearby party members trigger Lunar Reactions, if the equipping character is on the field, gain the Gleaming Moon: Intent effect for 4s: Increases CRIT Rate by 15%/30% when the party's Moonsign is Nascent Gleam/Ascendant Gleam. All party members' Lunar Reaction DMG is increased by 10% for each different Gleaming Moon effect that party members have. Effects from Gleaming Moon cannot stack.

This is Cyno’s highest damage set if your team has Ascendant Gleam. Note however if using Cyno on Staff of the Scarlet Sands, it can be difficult to avoid overcapping on CRIT Rate% with this set.
Marechaussee Hunter 101%

Marechaussee Hunter

2-Piece Set: Normal and Charged Attack DMG +15%

4-Piece Set: When current HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5s. Max 3 stacks.

In teams with Furina and without Ascendant Gleam, this is Cyno’s highest damage set. But it has the same risk of overcapping on CRIT Rate%.
Thundering Fury 100%

Thundering Fury

2-Piece Set: Electro DMG Bonus +15%

4-Piece Set: Increases the DMG caused by Overloaded, Electro-Charged, Superconduct, and Hyperbloom by 40%, the DMG Bonus conferred by Aggravate by 20%, and the DMG caused by Lunar-Charged by 20%. When Quicken or the aforementioned Elemental Reactions are triggered, Elemental Skill CD is decreased by 1s. Can only occur once every 0.8s.

This set allows Cyno to get extra casts of his Elemental Skill, which is great for his Energy requirements. If Cyno is the only Electro character on your team, this becomes much more valuable. However, the effect will not work in teams where Cyno isn’t triggering Electro reactions.
Gilded Dreams 98%

Gilded Dreams

2-Piece Set: Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.

4-Piece Set: Within 8s of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members. ATK is increased by 14% for each party member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for every party member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the aforementioned buffs will count up to 3 characters. This effect can be triggered once every 8s. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.

A solid alternative to Thundering Fury, if you do not wish to farm that set.
Gladiator's Finale 92%

Gladiator's Finale

2-Piece Set: ATK +18%.

4-Piece Set: If the wielder of this artifact set uses a Sword, Claymore or Polearm, increases their Normal Attack DMG by 35%.

This set is only recommended if the above set options don’t work well in your specific team, such as in an Overload team.
Echoes of an Offering 89%

Echoes of an Offering

2-Piece Set: ATK +18%.

4-Piece Set: When Normal Attacks hit opponents, there is a 36% chance that it will trigger Valley Rite, which will increase Normal Attack DMG by 70% of ATK. This effect will be dispelled 0.05s after a Normal Attack deals DMG. If a Normal Attack fails to trigger Valley Rite, the odds of it triggering the next time will increase by 20%. This trigger can occur once every 0.2s.

Just like Gladiator’s, Echoes should only be used in teams such as Overload where Cyno’s best sets don’t work well.

Cyno's Stat Priority

Sands of Eon: ATK % / Elemental Mastery
Goblet of Eonothem: Electro DMG or Elemental Mastery
Circlet of Logos: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
Substats: Energy Recharge > CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG > > Elemental Mastery / ATK %

The sands Cyno should use depends on his team and weapon. If using Staff of Scarlet Sands, and/or playing a team where Cyno triggers Hyperbloom, Elemental Mastery should be used. In Lunar-Charged teams, ATK % and Elemental Mastery are equal. In Overload, ATK % should be used. For the Goblet, Electro is always best, but Elemental Mastery is close behind in Hyperbloom teams, especially if using Staff of the Scarlet Sands.

Recommended Stats for Cyno

Build recommendations assume a "decently built" level of artifact rolls alongside Cyno's best weapon. Using other weapons may increase or decrease certain stats relative to these recommendations.

HP: 18,000-20,000
ATK: 1800-2000
Energy Recharge: 115-120%
CRIT Rate: 95-100%
CRIT DMG: 200-220%

The stats shown here are reflecting Cyno on 4pc Night of the Sky’s Unveiling and Staff of the Scarlet Sands with all three stacks active. The Energy Recharge can be higher or lower depending on your exact team and if you use Thundering Fury.

Cyno's Talent Priority

Talent Priority: Sacred Rite: Wolf's Swiftness > Secret Rite: Chasmic Soulfarer >>> Invoker's Spear

Cyno’s Normal Attacks in his Burst are a much larger portion of his total damage output than his Skill, so it should be leveled first. The Skill is still important, so it should be leveled too. Cyno’s Normal Attack talent can be left unleveled, as it is not used.

How to Play Cyno

Cyno’s playstyle involves using him as an on-field DPS in his Burst, performing Normal Attacks and casting his Skill when he enters his Endseer stance, or off cooldown if using Thundering Fury. Ideally, you will go up to the 4th hit in his Normal Attack chain and do a dash cancel if his Skill is on cooldown, and use the Skill if it isn’t, as this will fit into the Endseer interval. If using Thundering Fury, the dash cancels are replaced with his Skill, as the set allows him to fit in those extra Skill casts without missing his Endseer intervals, if your timing is right.

Cyno's Best Constellations

For the most part, Cyno’s Constellations are extremely underwhelming. C2 and C6 are the strongest ones, but keep in mind the exact value depends on what type of team Cyno is used in. The numbers here are assuming a Lunar-Charged team - they are less impactful in Hyperbloom teams.

Constellation % of C0 % From Previous Constellation
C0 100%
100%
C1 105% 105%
C2 124% 119%
C3 133% 107%
C4 133% 100%
C5 135% 101%
C6 155% 115%
