Diluc's best weapons are A Thousand Blazing Suns and Redhorn Stonethresher with many weapons being viable for Diluc in either playstyle. The main change to Diluc as a plunge DPS is Fruitful Hook which is a decent 4-Star weapon specifically for Plunge playstyles. If you want to build Diluc so that he can be used in a variety of teams, don't use this weapon in your build.
Build Diluc with a combination of CRIT, ATK % and Elemental Mastery. Elemental Mastery on your in teams where Diluc will be regularly causing reactions.
Having a very low 40 Energy requirement for his Elemental Burst Dawn means that Diluc only need to be built with 115-120% Energy Recharge and can be fine with less if in a party with a Pyro support such as Bennett.
Combos and How to Play Diluc
Your Elemental Burst Dawn deals large amounts of AoE Pyro DMG to enemies in front. More importantly, is that it also infuses your weapon with Pyro. You therefore want to use Dawn before the combo listed below.
Diluc's most popular combo while on-field is 2 Normal Attacks and then 1 hit of Searing Onslaught. This is then repeated two more times. The great thing about Searing Onslaught is that you are able to attack between uses of your Elemental Skill and therefore allowing this combo to occur. Each hit of Searing Onslaught needs to be used within 4 seconds of the previous hit, otherwise the skill will begin its 10-second cooldown.
In Plunge based teams, Diluc wants to activate his Elemental Infusion after Xianyun's Elemental Burst and then begin jumping.
Diluc's Best Team Comps
With the release of Xianyun, Diluc has wider team options. Generally for any of Diluc's teams Bennett is incredibly important with his ATK buff being a huge damage boost.
Diluc Plunging Team
Main DPS | Support | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Diluc | Furina | Bennett | Xianyun |
Claymore characters such as Diluc heavily benefit from the buffs provided by Xianyun who are then supported by Bennett and Furina. These characters all provide amazing DMG increases for Diluc making him much more competitive in endgame content.
Diluc Melt Teams
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Diluc | Bennett |
Using characters such as Kaeya or Rosaria makes it easy to apply Cryo and subsequently create Melt reactions. Consistently creating Melt reactions can be difficult at times but it will come with practice and Melt teams often rewards more damage than Vaporize.
Diluc Vaporize Teams
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Diluc | Bennett |
Having characters such as Xingqiu and Yelan allow Diluc to easily proc Vaporize. You can even use both characters if you wanted to instead of support characters such as Kaedehara Kazuha or Xilonen therefore enabling easy Vaporize reactions to occur.
