Diona is a 4-star Cryo character who can effectively be a shielder, a battery and a healer — all at the same time. Her toolkit offers many teams a valuable addition for not a huge investment and she is quite the versatile character depending on how you build her.

Diona's 5-star weapon choice, Sacrificial Bow, is a solid choice for almost any team composition. The rest of our weapon selection is focused around team benefits rather than focusing on any damage for Diona herself. The two 4-star bows were chosen to specifically boost the team's overall Energy stats. Due to her playstyle and use of shields, we are prioritizing her ability to shield her team faster rather than any kind of damage output.
Her Artifact choices follow the same theme as her weapon choices; they are picked specifically to augment her shield ability. The rest of the stats are focused on team-wide effects: Elemental Mastery increases and Energy Recharge bonuses. However, if you want to focus on a pure shield build for Diona, choosing a double 2-piece bonus that focuses on HP is the best choice. As Diona will be swapped in and out of combat very quickly, it is best to focus on using equipment that helps to boost the team overall.
Combos and How to Play Diona
Diona is mainly brought out onto the field to apply shields using Icy Paws, holding the skill down to activate them. Otherwise, we use her Elemental Burst ability to help trigger Elemental Reactions with other characters. Overall, Diona is a great support with very basic mechanics that can assist a variety of teams through her skills and equipment with some heavy investment in HP gear. She is a great 4-star choice for F2P players who are just starting out, and with some solid investment can perform well in the endgame.
Diona's Best Team Comps
As we have previously mentioned, Diona is best used as a shielder and healer. Her team choices will be based on Elemental Reactions with Cryo, particularly for enhancing damage through other characters and Main DPSers.
Diona's Freeze Team
Main DPS - Cryo | Hydro | Support | Shielder - Cryo |
---|---|---|---|
Diona |
This Perma-Freeze team helps lock down your enemies, and deals some great Cryo AoE damage. This build can use several different Hydro characters but, Mona is one of the strongest additions with her DMG boost from her Elemental Burst. To help apply Hydro to enemies across the entire battlefield, we have included Anemo characters that can Shred RES and help group enemies together for easy Hydro application. A strong pick from the Anemo characters is Kaedehara Kazuha, who adds a similar damage boost to your team like Mona. Next, we have a powerful Cryo damage character, Kamisato Ayaka or Ganyu, for our main damage primarily from their Elemental Bursts. Finally, Diona helps round out the team with shielding and healing, using all of her abilities to add a second dose of Cryo to help keep enemies frozen while you swap between characters and recharge your abilities.
Razor Superconduct Shatter Team
Shielder | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Main DPS |
---|---|---|---|
Diona | Xingqiu | Fischl | Razor |
This Razor team is a great mix of Elemental Reactions, shielding and some limited healing. Her Cryo element can combine with Xingqiu's Hydro abilities to Freeze most enemies. Razor and Fischl's Oz provide some excellent synergy on the battlefield with anything Frozen, allow Superconduct and Shatter reactions to trigger. Overall, this is a very simple playstyle; keeping Oz out on the field with Razor and using Xingqiu and Diona's ability combo to Freeze enemies. All the while, Diona can keep the entire team shielded for added protection.
Diona Plunging Attack Team
Support | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Main DPS |
---|---|---|---|
Diona | Xianyun | Furina | Razor |
This build focuses around Xianyun as an off-field support who can not only heal, but buff Plunging Attack damage. This buff is used specifically by Razor, granting him the ability to perform plunge attacks repeatedly. He can also activate his Electro abilities to increase his attacks and trigger some solid elemental reactions. The next character we use to boost this combination further is Furina as another off-field support, adding Hydro to the battlefield and buffing her teammates with her 'Fanfare' stacks to increase their damage further. Diona helps to round out this team, by adding Cryo and Freeze to the map, but also healing to offset any damage and build up our 'Fanfare' stacks as we brawl with Razor.
