Kamisato Ayaka Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact
Ayaka is a 5-star Cryo Sword Character main DPS in Genshin Impact who mainly focuses on her burst rotation and freezing your opponents.
Strengths and Weaknesses
- No mandatory constellations.
- Great quickswap gameplay.
- Very flexible for team composition.
- Easy to get F2P weapon.
- Alot of damage loaded into a single burst.
- Requires alot of Energy Recharge if you dont have another Cryo to feed energy.
- Reliant on being able to group targets.
Ayaka Freeze DPS Build
Ayaka's primary method to deal damage is through her Elemental Burst Kamisato Art: Hyouka which deals the vast majority of her damage, while simultaneously applying Hydro through other characters to trigger the status Frozen. This further increases her damage via the artifact set she primarily uses.

Mistsplitter Reforged is by far her best weapon, as she is able to utilize the entire passive effect. It also having the highest base ATK among Swords (tied with Aquila Favonia) and has CRIT DMG as its Sub stat. Haran Geppaku Futsu is a great sword to use, granted the CRIT Rate as sub stat is less desired. However, do not pull for this weapon specifically as Mistsplitter is better. Absolution was added in Patch 4.7, having the same stat scaling as Mistsplitter, which is why it makes it onto the weapon list. It comes with an additional 20% CRIT DMG from its effect, however the 2nd part relies on triggering Bond of Life, which is going to be hard on Ayaka at the moment.
One of Ayaka's best 4 Star weapon options is Amenoma Kageuchi which is craftable. While the base ATK on this weapon is rather low, it makes up for that with up to 55% ATK as substat and alot of free energy. This lowers the need for Energy Recharge and at R5 you can nearly forego any Energy Recharge, bar having it rolled onto an artifact or two (About 110% should suffice).
The reason why CRIT Rate is devalued with Ayaka, is due how Freeze's work together with the Blizzard Strayer 4 piece bonus. If you have double Cryo in your team alongside Ayaka as her Burst costs 80 Energy, you will gain Cryo resonance. This gives you 15% CRIT Rate on targets who are affected by Cryo or are Frozen. Blizzard Strayer gives you 20% CRIT Rate on targets who affected by Cryo or 40% CRIT Rate if the target is Frozen. This means you have +55% CRIT Rate just from your artifact set and Resonance on Frozen targets, which is more than enough CRIT as a general.
Combos and How to Play Ayaka
Setting up Ayaka's Kamisato Art: Soumetsu is the most important part of her playstyle. While the damage seems low on paper, it makes up for it by hitting multiple times. In total, the burst hits 20 times, with the last hit dealing 50% more damage. This means that even at Talent lv1, her burst does 2302.15% skill damage over 5 seconds, while it has a 20 second cooldown. This gives you quite abit of time where you will be swapping between characters to build up your next burst rotation. Since her burst does the vast majority of her damage, setting it up correctly is very important.
Ayaka also has an additional passive named Kamisato Art: Senho, which is an alternate sprint. It costs 10 Stamina to enter and you turn into a cold mist. This allows you to walk on water but more importantly, when you stop sprinting you infuse your weapon with Cryo for 5 seconds. Furthermore, you also apply Cryo in a small area around you when you exit your sprint. With the 2nd Ascension passive, Kanten Senmyou Blessing, if you hit an opponent with this Cryo application, you will regain 10 stamina and gain 18% Cryo DMG Bonus for 10 seconds. This is important for her burst and is easy to maintain as you can just tap your sprint for free.
So the general playstyle would be to flip through all your other characters to use their bursts and/or skills, swap to Ayaka, Dash once to get the Cryo DMG Bonus and then use Kamisato Art: Soumetsu. After this, you would use Kamisato Art: Hyouka and do a few attack rotations, mainly being 2 Normal Attack into a Charged Attack or 3 Normal attacks into a Charge attack (this depends on your team). If you have Mistsplitter Reforged, then what you do on Ayaka changes slightly. You incorporate a single Normal attack before casting your burst, so you proc all parts of Mistsplitter Reforged's effect.
Ayaka's Best Team Comps
Ayaka's main team compositions involve a character with high Hydro application, an Anemo character to bunch up your enemies and another Cryo character to provide energy for Ayaka. She can also be in a team with another two Cryo characters and a single Anemo character, however you wont Freeze your targets necessarily. Below are some of her best team comps and a few examples as how to setup a team if you are missing characters.
Ayaka Freeze Teams
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayaka | Shenhe | Kaedehara Kazuha | Sangonomiya Kokomi |
Generally, Freeze is Ayaka's best team composition. Shenhe not only provides Energy for Ayaka, her skill also provides increased damage. Kaedehara Kazuha is not only a great Anemo character to bunch up enemies, he will also give your party high amounts of Elemental DMG bonus. On top of this, he is also able to shread resistances with the Viridescent Venerer set. Sangonomiya Kokomi will be providing with consistent Hydro Application through her skill while also be able to heal the party in a pinch.
General Ayaka Freeze Comp Setup
Ayaka | Cryo | Anemo | Hydro |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayaka |
These are some of the examples of characters you can somewhat mix and match with Ayaka to try and create a comp if you do not have the three specific characters mention in the previous comp. And these are just examples. In general Ayaka just needs someone to funnel Elemental Particles to her and someone to apply enough Hydro so that the target stays Frozen. Anemo is great to shred Cryo RES and to bunch targets up so that they all stay within Ayaka's Burst.
Ayaka Budget Comp Example
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayaka | Xingqiu | Sucrose | Diona |
This team should be relatively easy to get your hands on over time if you have a relatively new account or do not have alot of characters in general. Diona provides alot of Elemental Particles, shields and heals in pinch, while Sucrose pulls every target together and shreds Cryo RES. Xingqiu's Guhua Sword: Raincutter will take care of the Hydro Application, as long as you keep attacking. When attaking with Ayaka, you would want to do 3 normal attacks into a charge attack as your attack rotation, as it lines up with Xinqui's burst alot better.
Ayaka Mono Cryo Team
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayaka | Shenhe | Kaedehara Kazuha | Diona |
Mono-Cryo exists because alot of newer enemies tend to be immovable or unfreezable. In this case, the Hydro Application doesn't matter and its better to to slot in more damage support. There are several variations of these, but most of them include Shenhe. She is not mandatory, but she provides a large amount of damage to Ayaka's burst, especially on single target. Kaedehara Kazuha can be swapped out with Jean or Sucrose and Diona can be replaced by Rosaria or Bennett (Bennett's Fantastic Voyage provides alot of bonus attack). Make sure if you swap some of the characters around to not overlap in support (Both Jean and Bennett can heal as an example)
Ayaka's Ascensions, Talents, and Constellations
Ayaka's Ascension Passives and Materials
Unlock | Ascension Passive | Explanation |
---|---|---|
With Character | Kamisato Art: Senho | Provides Ayaka a Cryo-based Alternate sprint. Ayaka consumes Stamina and cloaks herself in a frozen fog that moves with her. In Senho form, she moves swiftly on water. When she reappears, she condenses the air around her, applying Cryo to nearby enemies and infusing her weapon with Cryo for 5 seconds. |
With Character | Fruits of Shinsa | When Ayaka crafts Weapon Ascension Materials, she has a 10% chance to receive double product. |
1st Ascension | Amatsumi Kunitsumi Sanctification | After using Kamisato Art: Hyouka, Kamisato Ayaka's Normal and Charge attacks deal 30% increased DMG for 6 seconds. |
4th Ascension | Kanten Senmyou Blessing | When the Cryo Application at the end of Kamisato Art: Senho hits an opponent, Kamisato Ayaka gains 10 Stamina and 18% increased Cryo DMG for 10 seconds. |
Ayaka requires a range of materials to ascend to the 6th ascension. Starting from the second ascension she gains additional CRIT DMG as her bonus stat giving a total of 38.4% increased CRIT DMG at the final ascension. The total cost to upgrade all ascensions is:

Ayaka's Constellations
Blizzard Blade Seki no To (C2) is the constellation you should aim for if you have the pulls to do so. Ayaka doesn't get alot of benefits from her Constellations, with C2 giving her up to an additional 40% damage on her burst, depending on the size of your opponent. C4 is also great as you will shred DEF with your burst, however Ebb and Flow (C4) is alot more investment and aint necessary. Both of these constellations are a luxury to have and are not mandatory in any way.
# | Name | Explanation |
---|---|---|
C1 | Snowswept Sakura | When Kamisato Ayaka's Normal or Charged Attacks deal Cryo DMG to opponents, it has a 50% chance of decreasing the CD of Kamisato Art: Hyouka by 0.3s. This effect can occur once every 0.1s. |
C2 | Blizzard Blade Seki no To | When casting Kamisato Art: Soumetsu, unleashes 2 smaller additional Frostflake Seki no To, each dealing 20% of the original storm's DMG |
C3 | Frostbloom Kamifubuki |
|
C4 | Ebb and Flow | Opponents damaged by Kamisato Art: Soumetsu's Frostflake Seki no To will have their DEF decreased by 30% for 6s. |
C5 | Blossom Cloud Irutsuki |
|
C6 | Dance of Suigetsu | Kamisato Ayaka gains Usurahi Butou every 10s, increasing her Charged Attack DMG by 298%. This buff will be cleared 0.5s after Ayaka's Charged ATK hits an opponent, after which the timer for this ability restarts. |
