Kamisato Ayato Strengths and Weaknesses
Extremely good Hydro application.
Solid DPS in both single-target and multi-target combat.
High Elemental Burst cost.
High Skill Cooldown making it difficult to combine with other characters for optimal rotations.
Works well in many teams, but nothing special compared to other similar Hydro characters, so he isn't essential.
Kamisato Ayato Build Guide, Best Artifacts, Weapons and Talent Priority
Ayato is a very strong main DPS in both multiple and single targets, doing large amounts of damage with his Elemental Skill and Burst. He provides a lot of Hydro application as well, making him a good fit for a lot of teams.

For this Ayato build, Haran Geppaku Futsu is his BiS weapon. It provides him with CRIT Rate and a good Elemental DMG bonus. If you use your Elemental Skill on other characters as well, which will ultimately also boost Ayato's Normal ATK DMG.
A strong alternative build option for Ayato is Primordial Jade Cutter. This weapon offers a great passive that increases your ATK based upon your maximum HP. Ayato's best 4-star weapon is The Black Sword as is also provides Ayato with good CRIT Rate and Normal Attack DMG bonus, however, it is a Battle Pass only weapon, making it less accessible. Kagotsurube Isshin is your best f2p option as you obtain it from a quest.
For Ayato's build, his best Artifact set is Heart of Depth. You can craft it through the Strongbox, which makes it accessible for anyone. The passive can always be triggered upon each Elemental Skill used. If you play Ayato with Furina, you can instead equip the Marechaussee Hunter set if you prefer.
Ayato does not require that much energy, but you should still aim for around 130 to 160%, depending on whether he is the only Hydro character in your team or not.
Kamisato Ayato Combos and How to Play
Ayato is not very hard to play. You want to keep in mind that you should always try to use his Elemental burst before you trigger his Elemental Skill. This is to maximize his Normal Attack DMG. When under his Elemental Skill stance, Ayato also can not use anything else than his normal attack, which would keep you from using his burst afterwards.
Switching to another character while Ayato is in his stance will end it early, so you should always swap out only once his stance is over.
Ayato's burst will leave a Hydro fiel that will constantly deal hydro DMG. This field increases the Normal ATK of any character inside the field. This means that you may want to use Ayato's skills in a two-time rotation:
- Use Ayato's Elemental Burst
- Quick-Swap through other teammates: Buffers, Shields, Sub DPS
- Swap back to Ayato before his Burst end to take advantage of it and the Normal ATK boost. Use his Skill and spam his Normal Attack
Ayato's Best Team Comps
As mentioned before, Ayato is an amazing Hydro applicator, and a very strong Main DPS, which gives him a free spot in a large variety of teams. His best teammates will be characters that can apply elements off-field, allowing him to trigger powerful elemental reactions.
Ayato Vaporize Team
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayato | Xiangling | Bennett | Kaedehara Kazuha |
Kamisato Ayato | Mavuika | Bennett | Kaedehara Kazuha |
Vaporize teams with Ayato are all about amplifying his damage through Bennett's Elemental Burst, and an Anemo such as Kaedehara Kazuha in order to Swirl and to shred resistances with the Viridescent Venerer set. You also need another Pyro character with a good Pyro application such as Xiangling or Mavuika, allowing Ayato to trigger the Vaporize effect.
Ayato Hypercarry Team
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayato | Xilonen | Furina | |
Kamisato Ayato | Xilonen | Furina |
Ayato can work in a Hypercarry team as well. This means the team will revolve around buffing Ayato. This works extremely well especially since the release of Furina. Furina is the best teammate for this kind of team as she will provide Ayato with a good damage buff. Xilonen is the best pick for this team as well, since she provides both healing and buff, and stacks Furina's Fanfare. The last spot is rather flexible, and you can use an Anemo for the RES Shred and more buffs or a shield, or another Hydro support/Sub DPS for more damage or Hydro RES Shred.
Ayato Hyperbloom Team
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS / Support | Sub DPS / Support |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayato | Nahida | Furina | |
Kamisato Ayato | Nahida | Xingqiu | Ororon |
Ayato is also very good in Hyperbloom teams. Nahida is one of the best teammate for him with her Dendro that stays rather long. On top of that you want at least one Electro character. Kuki, Raiden, and Ororon are all good options. The last spot is rather flexible for any Hydro support or sub-DPS.
Ayato Nilou Bloom Team
Main DPS | Nilou | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayato | Nilou | Nahida | Baizhu |
This team requires you to have Nilou and two Dendro characters. Ayato will help with maintaining consistent Blooming. If you play this team, you may want to run him with an EM set however, if you want him to trigger it even more. Normal DPS build also works if you do not want to bother switching and just want to play him with Nilou. Baizhu is one of the best options thanks to his shield and heal. Nahida is always still very good with her strong Dendro application.
Ayato Freeze Team
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Kamisato Ayato | Ganyu | Venti |
Freeze teams with Ayato are also a good option. Layla or Citlali are good choices to bring high survivability and Cryo resonance, as well as functions as a battery. Ganyu works very well for an Ayato Freeze teams since she provides with a Cryo DMG buff and her burst works with Ayato's burst. Combined with Venti this is a very powerful constant Freeze team.
