Lyney Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact

Strengths

• Able to taunt enemies with the Grin-Malkin Hat from their Elemental Skill.
• Grin-Malkin Hat can easily be refreshed using both Lyney's Charged Attacks or Elemental Burst.
• Powerful Pyro DMG with a unique Pyro-focused kit.

• Can easily be staggered while aiming so shields or Interruption RES is important.
• While many of Lyney's best team compositions are restricted to Mono Pyro, this is slowly becoming less of an issue.

Lyney is built as a Pyro Main DPS dealing powerful damage through Charged Attacks.

The First Great Magic is Lyney's signature weapon and a great build option. It also benefits from additional Pyro characters much like Lyney and their Conclusive Ovation Passive. Other great weapon options include Astral Vulture's Crimson Plumage, Aqua Simulacra, Song of Stillness and Prototype Crescent.

Build Lyney with Marechaussee Hunter! It is by far Lyney's best artifact set boasting huge CRIT Rate increases. Because of this, you want to ensure that you build your CRIT DMG instead so that you do not overcap on CRIT Rate. 64% CRIT Rate is the maximum before Marechausse to give you 100% Rate. Additionally, Lyney wants around 120-150% Energy Recharge.

Normal Attack is by far the most important talent to level. Lyney's Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst are roughly similar in value.

Lyney's gameplay is centred around his Charged Attacks. Depending on how long you hold the attack for, different effects will take place. Generally you want to hold it to the second level to summon a Grin-Malkin Hat and also to consume HP for Marechaussee Hunter's passive.

The Grin-Malkin Hat can taunt enemies keeping their attention away from you. This makes it much easier to attack! The hat will also deal AoE Pyro DMG once destroyed or when the duration expires. This can even occur when Lyney is off-field.

Lyney's Elemental Skill Wondrous Trick: Miracle Parade turns Lyney into a Grin-Malkin Cat that can move around the field and deal Pyro DMG. At the end of the duration or if triggered using your Elemental Skill button, the cat will deal AoE Pyro DMG and summon a Grin-Malkin Hat.

While Lyney's kit focuses on more Mono-Pyro team compositions. There are also powerful Vaporize teams as well as Melt teams that can be used played.

Mono Pyro teams revolve solely around Pyro with minimal reactions taking place. While Lyney benefits from having exclusively Pyro party members, there are some non-Pyro characters who provide even more of a benefit. Characters such as Kaedehara Kazuha and Xilonen provide powerful RES Shred and DMG buffs. Thoma also heavily benefits from a shielder to increase his interruption RES, making Zhongli, Thoma and Lan Yan great picks.

Vaporize teams with Furina lower Lyney's personal damage but can make up for it with Furina's damage buff from her Elemental Burst alongside reaction damage. Bennett helps to provide Resonance, ATK buffs and also supports Lyney's A4 passive.

Citlali is a great Cryo support who can help facilitate elemental reactions as well as provide a buff to Pyro DMG from her passive. This makes her a great shielder to use with Lyney. The only downside being that you need to be relatively close to enemies for the Cryo to apply while Lyney benefits from having a bit of range.
