Natlan Region Overview and Content Hub
Natlan is one of the seven regions of Teyvat. It is the nation of Pyro, ruled by the God of War. This region is located on the other side of Sumeru's desert. It is known for its volcanic activity and hot springs, as well as the multiple tribes living there. According to records, six tribes exist all over Natlan in total: the Meztli (People of the Springs), Nanatzcayan (Children of Echoes), Huitztlan (Scions of the Canopy), Tlalocan (Flower-Feather Clan), Mictlan (Masters of the Night-Wind), and the Collective of Plenty.
Alongside the different tribes, you can also encounter Natlan's Dragons: the Saurian. Unlike Dragons from other regions, Sauriens have evolved and coexist perfectly with the humans. They have become trusty companions!
How to Unlock the Natlan Region?
Natlan can be unlocked by following the 5.0 Archon Quest. If you are not completely caught up on the Archon quest, you will be able to use a Quick Start function to access Chapter V while maintaining your current Archon Quest progress. In order to do this, you need to be at least AR 28 and finished the Liyue Archon Quest.
Natlan's Gameplay Mechanics
New Special Sauriens
Natlan will introduce a brand new mechanic linked to the Sauriens. You will be able to use those little companions to your advantage, and they will help you during your exploration.
For the time being, we know of five different Sauriens:
- Tepetlisaurus
- Yumkasaurus
- Koholasaurus
- Ququsaurus
- Ictomisaurus
Tepetlisaurus
The Tepetlisaurus live alongside the Nanatzcayan tribe. They are characterized by their brown color and yellow nose, and navigate mostly underground.
You can use the Tepetlisaurus to dig through Fissures on the ground: he will help you reach the other side.
They are also extremely good at digging out hidden dangers or treasures, so use their ability to dig and find different hidden things buried underground!
Yumkasaurus
The Yumkasaurus live alongside the Huitztlan tribe. They are characterized by their green color and fox-like face. They move extremely fast and use surrounding objects to move all over the place.
The Yumkasaurus can be use to move around fast: it spits out Flamegranate Pectin that it hides in its cheek pouches, and will use them to pull itself to distant objects, allowing it to move around even faster. You can also use the Flamegranates to attack enemies.
Koholasaurus
The Koholasaurus live alongside the Meztli tribe. They are characterized by their blue color and look similar to a fish with tiny legs and arms. They have the ability to swim in almost any liquid.
Those Sauriens can be used to move around in water, lava, or Liquid Phlogiston. This liquid contains high thermal energy and should only be touched when using a Koholasaurus.
You can also use the Koholasaurus to ride Spiritways: ride the Saurien and follow the flow while collecting items on the way!
Ququsaurus
The Ququsaurus live alongside the Flower Feather Clan tribe. They are characterized by their Pink-Red color and look similar to a big bird. Ququsaurs are the king of the sky and the proudest of all Sauriens.
Those Sauriens can be used to move around in the air. They have the ability to fly higher or perform horizontal rolls mid-air.
You can also use the Ququsaurus to cover great distance with Phlogiston Wind currents.
Ictomisaurus
The Ictomisaurus live alongside the Masters of the Night Winds tribe. They are characterized by their Dark Blue color and look similar to a big bat-owl. They cna detect things that are not visible otherwise.
Those Sauriens can be used to detect secret passages, puzzles, and more, through their unique sight. They can also jump higher, move faster, or collect surprising items.
You can also use the Ictomisaurs to extract information from graffiti art to create special objects.
Iridescent Beams
On top of the Sauriens, Natlan is also introducing a few other new mechanics such as the Iridescent Beams.
These are small defensive weapons that will fire dangerous beams if you get close. You will need to hide behind other items while you try to get closer. Once near it, touch its core to shut it down.
Monetoo
During your exploration, you will encounter these mystical creatures called Monetoo. Try to follow them and they may lead you to some great rewards!
The Monetoo replace the Seelies in Natlan!
Nightsoul's Blessing and Phlogiston
Unique to Natlan, the Nightsoul's Blessing can boost character movement and combat capabilities, using Phlogiston as an energy resource. When a character is in the Nightsoul's Blessing state, they can trigger certain Phlogiston Mechanics and Nightsoul Transmissions within Natlan.
Players can obtain Phlogiston through several methods, such as:
