Sayu Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact
Sayu is 4-star Anemo character who uses a Claymore in Genshin Impact. Her abilities includes an Anemo attack where you can comically roll around the battlefield spreading Anemo, ending in a final whirlwind attack for more Anemo damage. She is also equipped with a healing ability on her Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry, that includes a blast of Anemo damage against nearby enemies. While Sayu does not have a large potential for damage, she has a great toolkit to play as a support any team.
Strengths and Weaknesses
- Swirl reactions will restore HP.
- Decent Healer.
- Whirlwind Kick can absorb elements.
- Whirlwind is tough to steer.
- Her weapon is awkward with her size.
Support Sayu Build
Playing Sayu as a support role gives us two main advantages, a team wide heal and Elemental absorption for her rolling skill Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash. This allows her to spread any element on the field by using her Elemental Skill when held down. This is an automatic absorption when she comes in contact with any other element on the field and continue to roll around the enemies. This offers us the unique opportunity to combine elements and setup some elemental reactions.

As a Claymore user, Sayu does not have a great selection of weapons to pick from. At the top of the list for 5-star weapons, Skyward Pride would be a good choice, for the bonus Energy Recharge. However, it is not the best choice and is a 5-star weapon from the gacha pool. Overall, we recommend the Favonius Greatsword. This blade grants particle generation from CRIT hits and a solid chunk of Energy Recharge. Just be sure to add enough CRIT Rate to her build to make this viable. Another decent options is the Sacrificial Greatsword, which can occasionally reduce her Elemental Skill's cooldown.
As for Sayu's Artifact choices, they depend on her position within an elemental reaction. If she is supporting the reaction, there is only a single set to pick that being Viridescent Venerer. This set is perfect for amplifying the Elemental Reaction damage from his supporting team members by lowering the enemies' RES. If she is a driver for reactions, meaning she is starting the chain reactions, say for a Bloom team, you will want her to use the Deepwood Memories set. This can assist with Dendro Core production while she is off-field. Another generic 4-piece set that can support her teammates is Noblesse Oblige. Remember, we need Sayu's Energy Recharge to be between 180% to 200% for her to effectively Burst in every rotation. So our gear choices will be focusing on that stat until we have fulfilled that requirement.
Combos and How to Play Sayu
As we have already mentioned, Sayu can absorb elements while using her Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash, when it is held down. This component of her toolkit is part of the reason why you would add her to a team and bring her out on to the field. It helps to focus a team around this kind of elemental spread and take advantage of it. While you are holding down her Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash to roll, you are in a state of resistance to interruption. You can still be knocked out by any large explosion so keep your positioning in mind.
Next, we have Sayu's Elemental Burst Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry, which will deal Anemo DMG to all nearby enemies and heal your allies for a set amount based on Sayu's ATK. The heal will then only continue for the active player on the field. This heal does gets upgraded by Sayu's Ascension Passive Someone More Capable. However, this skill does act differently if a character is over 70% HP, instead focusing more on Anemo DMG, so be aware which character is out on the field during its duration. In the end, Sayu will be played on-field as a support for elemental reactions during her Elemental Skill and can be taken off-field during her Elemental Burst for healing.
Sayu's Best Team Comps
Sayu is best placed teams who focus on Elemental Reactions and teams who can take advantage of her ability to Swirl Elements and healing.
Xiao Team
Support/Healer | Main DPS | Off-fielder | Shielder |
---|---|---|---|
Sayu | Xiao | Fischl | Zhongli |
This team is all about Xiao and using his Plunge Attack from his Bane of All Evil for the main source of damage. Zhongli is here to provide shields to the team and Fischl will be our off-field Electro DMG to help with Anemo reactions. This build is quite simple once those two components are setup on the field, then switch to Sayu to use her Elemental Burst, Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry. Now we bring out Xiao and use his Elemental Burst. Start Xiao's damage by doing Plunge Attacks over and over, with each jump which taking a piece of his health. Sayu's Elemental Burst will start to trigger for healing for Xiao once he drops below 70% but it will also add Anemo and Swirl damage to the field. This rotation is very easy to maintain and is easy to get skills out while under Zhongli's shielded protection.
Sayu Hyperbloom Team

Hyperbloom teams are great if you can produce enough Dendro cores. This where Sayu is fantastic support. Sayu's ability to absorb elements while she is rolling around the field in Windwheel really excels at making Dendro cores and blowing them up. Start with your Hydro and Dendro combination, putting their elements on top of the field through their Elemental Burst abilities. Next, swap to your Electro character and apply Electro onto the Dendro cores. Lastly, we bring out Sayu use her Elemental Burst and then start to roll. Now your screen will be filled with colourful numbers and exploding cores all over
Sayu Turrets Team
Support | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Buffer |
---|---|---|---|
Sayu | Sangonomiya Kokomi | Fischl | Sucrose |
Sayu's skills will be the driver for this Elemental Reaction team. Similar to the Hyperbloom team above, you will want to setup your field first. Bring out Fischl's Nightrider and Kokomi's Kurage's Oath. Now, we can swap to Sucrose and dump both of her skills on top of the enemies, grouping them all together. Lastly, we swap to Sayu and use her Elemental Burst first and then her Elemental Skill to start rolling. Now things become absolute chaos and it's so much fun to see all the colorful numbers popping up as the enemy is bombarded with elemental reactions.

Sayu's Constellations
Almost all of Sayu's constellations are useful, but players are usually after her Multi-Task no Jutsu (C1) to remove the healing restriction of the Skill based on active character's HP. However, she functions fine at C0 and the high investment is not worth chasing.
# | Name | Explanation |
---|---|---|
C1 | Multi-Task no Jutsu | The Muji-Muji Daruma created by Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry will ignore HP limits and can simultaneously attack nearby opponents and heal characters. |
C2 | Egress Prep | Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash gains the following effects.

C4 | Skiving: New and Improved | Sayu recovers 1.2 Energy when she triggers a Swirl reaction. This effect occurs once every 2s. |

The Muji-Muji Daruma created by Sayu's Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry will now also benefit from her Elemental Mastery. Each point of Sayu's Elemental Mastery will produce the following effects.
