Sayu Strengths and Weaknesses
Heals and deals damage simultaneously with her Elemental Burst.
Great mobility with her E skill (rolling dash).
Strong support for both healing and Swirl reactions.
Passive ability provides extra healing when triggering Swirl.
Before C6 can be tricky to distribute both ATK and EM required.
Limited damage compared to other Anemo Characters.
Needs high Energy Recharge for frequent Burst uptime.
Sayu Build Guide, Best Artifacts, Weapons and Talent Priority
Sayu's best build is as a support as she will supply the team with a good amount of healing while also absorbing and swirling elements around.

Support Sayu's build uses Favonius Greatsword as her BiS weapon. You will need to build some CRIT rate for it however. This weapon will help her Burst each rotation. Wolf's Gravestone is the second best choice as it will give the whole team a small buff. Katsuragikiri Nagamasa is the best F2P weapon as you can craft it, and it provides Sayu with decent ER.
For this build, Sayu's best Artifact set is Viridescent Venerer, whether you play her on field or off field. It allows both elemental RES shred and increases Sayu's Swirl.
Sayu requires a lot of Energy Recharge for this build: you will want to aim for at least 200 %+ if you want to use her Burst every rotation. Her C4 will lower it to 160-180 %. Favonius or another Anemo character will lower it more. Before C6, you will have to balance her ATK and EM: her heal scales on ATK, and her swirl damage on EM. After C6, her heal will also scale with EM, making it easier for you.
You do not have to level Sayu's Normal Attack.
Sayu Combos and How to Play
Sayu's burst Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry as a support build is what you will want to use the most. You will deal Anemo damage to nearby enemies, and heal your allies.
Sayu is not very hard to play. Your role with her will be to swap her in once you applied some elements so she swirl and spread it, you can then use your Burst to heal if needed or deal extra Swirl damage.
The optimal rotation for Support Sayu is:
- Swap on her after applying one or multiple other Elements to the enemies
- Use Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash to Swirl
- Use Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry to heal or deal additional DMG
- Swap back to a DPS
Sayu's Best Team Compositions
As an Anemo support, Sayu is extremely flexible and can fit in a various amount of teams.
Sayu Support Team
Support | Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Sayu | Xiao | ||
Sayu | Kamisato Ayaka | Xingqiu | Shenhe |
Sayu | Clorinde | Yae Miko | Nahida |
Support | Main DPS | Support | Support |
Sayu | Arlecchino | Citlali | Bennett |
Sayu | Clorinde | Yae Miko | Nahida |
Sayu can be a good support for Xiao as she can provide him with a decent healing, and she can also serve as his personal battery. Fischl will serve as an off-field DPS while also applying Electro. Ororon can be used instead of Fischl if you don't have her. Zhongli will provide his shield to the team. Lan Yan is another viable option to shield in this team if you do not have Zhongli.
The other team options presented in the table on top revolve around Sayu buffing elemental reactions with her swirl ability, while also acting as a healer. This works for reactions such as Melt, Freeze, or Aggravate.
Sayu Mono-Element Team
Support | Main DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Sayu | Arlecchino |
A more Mono-Elemental team is another option for Sayu. Mono Pyro is the best for this set-up as Sayu will be able to swirl Pyro to all surrounding enemies. You will want to pick a powerful Main DPS such as Arlecchino and add additional DPS with Xiangling for example, as well as another buffer such as Bennett.
Sayu's Ascensions, Talents, and Constellations
Sayu's Ascension Passives and Materials
Unlock | Ascension Passive | Explanation |

With Character | Yoohoo Art: Silencer's Secret | When Sayu is in the party, your characters will not startle Crystalflies and certain other animals when getting near them. Check the "Other" sub-category of the "Living Beings / Wildlife" section in the Archive for creatures this skill works on. |
1st Ascension | Someone More Capable | When Sayu triggers a Swirl reaction while active, she heals all your characters and nearby allies for 300 HP. She will also heal an additional 1.2 HP for every point of Elemental Mastery she has. This effect can be triggered once every 2s. |
4th Ascension | No Work Today! |
The Muji-Muji Daruma created by Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry gains the following effects.

Sayu requires a range of materials to ascend to the 6th ascension. Starting from the second ascension she gains additional Elemental Mastery as she gains levels, giving a total of 96 Elemental Mastery at the final ascension. The total cost to upgrade all ascensions is:

Enhancement Material |

Sayu's Talents
Listed below is each talent and a brief explanation of how they work.
Type | Talent Name | Brief Explanation |
---|---|---|
Normal | Normal Attack: Shuumatsuban Ninja Blade | Standard Normal Attack dealing 4 consecutive strikes. Charged Attack will perform a spinning attack with a large slash as the end. Plunging Attacks strike the ground below with an AoE DMG circle. |
Elemental Skill | Yoohoo Art: Fuuin Dash | Pressing the skill puts Sayo into a Windwheel roll, going a short distance than performing a whirlwind kick dealing Anemo DMG. Holding the skill down puts her into a continuous Windwheel, rolling around the field absorbing any elements she comes across and dealing that Elemental DMG on the field. |
Elemental Burst | Yoohoo Art: Mujina Flurry | This summons a pair of healing hands and deals Anemo damage to nearby enemies. If the HP of the active character is above 70% you will deal more Anemo damage, if it is below you will heal the active character more. |
To upgrade a single talent to level 10, it costs:
Source | Quantity |
---|---|
Mora | 1,625,500 Mora |
Special Material | 1x Crown of Insight |
Boss Material | 6x Gilded Scale |
Domain Material |
|
Enhancement Material |
|
Sayu's Constellations
Almost all of Sayu's constellations are useful, and it is definitely worth getting her to C4 for the additional Energy Recharge, and her C6 allowing her Heal to benefit from EM as well.
