Tezcatepetonco Range Treasure Chest Locations and Puzzles Guide
Tezcatepetonco Range is one of sub-regions you can explore in Natlan in Genshin Impact. This guide provides an overview of where to find treasure chests and how to complete puzzles in the area.
Tezcatepetonco Range Puzzles and Chests Guide
Tezcatepetonco Range is one of the sub-regions of Natlan. It is a rather small zone and exploring it should not offer much difficulty. There are:
- 17 Common Chests
- 12 Exquisite Chests
- 1 Luxurious Chests
- 3 Precious Chests
- 7 Remarkable Chests
This guide accounts for a total of 40 treasure chests currently available in Tezcatepetonco Range.
It is recommended to complete the Archon Quest first before going out of your way to collect any treasure chests.
There are many treasure chests located throughout the Tezcatepetonco Range, and as such, each map has been filtered based on the type of treasure chest. Most chests will be discoverable through normal exploration, such as defeating enemies, completing puzzles, and finding them in open areas. Some treasure chests will be locked behind side-quests.
For nearby Treasure Chests not shown below, please check out the other guides available on Icy Veins!

Common Chest Locations

In order to solve the Painting Puzzle for Common chests number 3 and 4 you will have to talk to the NPC. He will ask you to guess which color the three small rocks are. There is a total of 3 challenges, the first two unlock the two common chests. It is just a memory puzzle. The Saurian will show you the order of the colors, and after you have to use the colored Seelies to spray the proper colors in the same order. The order is random, it is usually never the same.
You will need to start the Mystery of Tecoloapan Bay side quest in order to reach chest 15, 16 and 17. They are both on the foggy Island on the left of the region.
In order to unlock the quest, you can simply either use Furina to walk over there on the water, or a nearby Koholasaurus to swim across, and enter the fog.
The quest will trigger as soon as you step into the fog. At first there is only a weird structure. Head on it and activate it, for the rest of the Island to appear. The fog is still there, but from there on you can either complete the quest to remove the fog, or choose to navigate in the dark. We recommend you advance in the quest, as you should stumble on the chests on the way.

In order to solve the Painting Puzzle for the Luxurious chest you will have to talk to the NPC. He will ask you to guess which color the three small rocks are. There is a total of 3 challenges, the first two unlock the two common chests as mentioned before, however, the last challenge is different. The NPC will try to fool you, but you are smarter than that!
Turn into a Saurien, and talk to the Iktomisaurus. It will tell you that his baby is locked in a cage, and if only someone could free it! Head behind the Iktomisaurus, and interact with the blinking item in the decor. You will find a key. Head to the left behind the crates, and open the cage to free the baby. Talk to the Iktomisaurus again, and then try to play a normal round. The Iktomisaurus will help you and get rid of the NPC, giving you access the Luxurious Chest.
Precious Chest Locations

The boss for the second chest is similar to local legends but weaker. You can use Ororon or an Iktomisaurus to spawn NPC that will fight with you, or bombs that will do fire damage. We advice you take fire characters with you, and the enemy has an Ice barrier you need to break. Once you defeated him, you get access to the chest, and can leave the place through a similar portal as the one you entered.

Keep in mind that Remarkable Chests will reward Serenity Teapot furnishing blueprints. The Serenity Teapot can be unlocked as part of a side-quest in Liyue.
