Our Tier List for Genshin Impact organises characters into 3 roles. A Main DPS, Sub DPS and Support. Click their icons to open a characters build guide!
Some characters rank in our Tier List multiple times where they can fit multiple roles, for example Raiden Shogun who can be a Main DPS, Sub DPS and Support. Many support characters do have the ability to provide off-field damage or apply an element however if there is a significant difference then they have been omitted.

Tier lists can be great for showing a rough estimate of a character's performance relative to other characters in their role. Please know that every character in Genshin Impact is viable regardless of their ranking and can clear all content with enough investment. Make sure to pick the character you like and want over the character that performs better!
Genshin Impact 5.2 Tier List Changes and Additions
Below are the most recent changes to our tier list which is the changes in patch 5.2 with the release of Chasca, Ororon and also the buffs to several Elemental Reactions.

| Chasca | Chasca is a powerful Anemo DPS who is able to provide a unique spin on Anemo gameplay. She deals great damage with a simple gameplay rotation that performs even if you do not directly aim at enemies. Chasca does have a few downsides however that limit her from being in our S+ tier. While Chasca's damage could increase with the future alongside new artifact sets and character releases, the randomness of her bullet order can create inconsistencies in gameplay and removes any ability to optimise her Elemental Skill to deal increased damage. Chasca is also unable to directly attack below her meaning that with smaller enemies you have to keep repositioning. |
| Ororon | Ororon is a great support for Electro-Charged to the point he is even better than Fischl in his niche. Additionally, because Ororon is a Natlan character he is able to equip Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City which is a very powerful artifact set. While Ororon is powerful in his Niche, the issue is that it is a Niche. Electro-Charged is required for his passive to trigger which currently limits team compositions heavily and restricting him to Chasca when talking about the meta. Ororon's Elemental Skill can also only hit each enemy a single time which feels needlessly restrictive and only harms Ororon in single-target. |
| Elemental Reaction Buffs | Patch 5.2 provided buffs to Overload, Superconduct, Electro-Charged and Shatter. These changes were not significant enough to provide any meaningful changes to the meta and feel more like a buff for either future characters or simply because of Chasca and Ororon being released that benefit from these reactions. While these buffs are nice especially for Superconduct and Shatter, the larger issues come from the characters (or lack thereof) that utilise them. |
Tier List Explanations and Ranking Criteria
Our Tier List for Genshin Impact groups characters as either a Main DPS, Sub DPS or a support.
- Main DPS: A character who spends the majority of their time on-field in the team to deal massive damage.
- Sub DPS: Characters that have good elemental application to create Elemental Reactions for the team or deal high amounts of damage while off-field.
- Support: Healers, Shielders and buffers. These characters may also deal some damage while off-field but their value lies in the supportive utility they give the party.
Characters are then ranked in their respective role based on D to S+ rankings based on their damage, ease of play, elemental application, buffs they provide to the team and how widely used they are.
Characters in the same tier are simply in alphabetical order and generally speaking it is pointless to compare characters in the same tier due to them rarely overlapping directly in roles and having different elements that allow them to be more or less suitable based on the fight.
Shikhu (Discord - Shikhu) is an avid Genshin Impact player who has been exploring Teyvat since the game has launched.
