Yelan Guide and Best Builds for Genshin Impact
Yelan is a 5-Star Hydro Bow user in Genshin Impact who provides incredible single-target and off-field damage. This guide will focus on Yelan's best weapons, builds, artifacts, teambuilding and more!
Strengths and Weaknesses
- Powerful Hydro application and off-field damage due to their Elemental Burst.
- Elemental Skill provides grouping from a non-Anemo character.
- Some of the most powerful Constellations in the game.
- Elemental Skill is amazing for exploration.
- Energy hungry often wanting a lot of Energy Recharge.
- Less valuable if you already have a C6 Xingqiu, C0 Yelan being more of an equivalent side-grade.
Yelan Off-field DPS
Yelan's main role in your party should be as an Off-field damage dealer as well as a Hydro applicator allowing for powerful Elemental Reactions to take place.

Yelan's best weapon is normally Aqua Simulacra however, Elegy for the End can often deal more teamwide damage in teams with a lot of Elemental Reactions. This is because of the Elemental Mastery increases it can provide. Weapons such as Favonius Warbow and Sacrificial Bow are great for lowering Energy Recharge requirements. Mouun's Moon and The Stringless are better options if you do not need high Energy Recharge.
Emblem of Severed Fate is an amazing Artifact choice for Yelan. Emblem is also an incredibly efficient artifact set to farm, with it being used on characters such as Raiden Shogun, Xiangling and Xingqiu to name a few.
Yelan often has high Energy Recharge requirements, these can depend on how many times she uses Lingering Lifeline either due to the effects of Sacrificial Bow or the additional charge provided by Enter the Plotters.

---|---|---|

Combos and How to Play Yelan
While off-field for 5 seconds, Yelan enters Breakthrough dealing a powerful Charged Attack. It will however apply the same amount of Hydro as any Charged Attack.
You can also reset Breakthrough when using Lingering Lifeline's hold functionality. This will be indicated by the bracelet on Yelan's right arm glowing blue.
Lingering Lifeline is also a great skill to group enemies in combat. You will generally use Lingering Lifeline before swapping to your Elemental Burst, Depth-Clarion Dice.
Yelan's Best Team Comps
Yelan's powerful off-field damage allows her to be incredibly flexible in a wide-range of team compositions with the Hydro Application being beneficial in many Vaporize, Dendro and Freeze teams.
Hu Tao Double Hydro Team
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Hu Tao | Yelan | Xingqiu | Zhongli |
Hu Tao | Yelan | Furina |
Here are 2 examples of Vaporize teams which involve the Main DPS Hu Tao to deal massive damage. One example utilises the powerful pairing of Xingqiu and Yelan to regularly apply Hydro while Hu Tao vaporizes enemies. The second example instead uses Furina for her powerful DMG buffs and therefore needs a healer. Bennett is most suited for this role due to healing, damage buffs from Fantastic Voyage and Pyro Resonance.
Alhaitham Hyperbloom Team
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Alhaitham | Yelan | Kuki Shinobu | Sangonomiya Kokomi |
Here is one such example of a Hyperbloom using characters such as Alhaitham and Kuki Shinobu to help produce the Hyperbloom reaction. Alhaitham is your On-field character, constantly applying Dendro while the remaining characters apply a lot of Hydro and Electro.
Nilou Bloom Team
Main DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Alhaitham | Yelan | Nilou | Baizhu |
Nahida | Yelan | Nilou | Sangonomiya Kokomi |
Listed are 2 examples of a Bloom team: one involving 3 Hydro and one involving 2. Nilou is incredibly important to Bloom reactions due to her Court of Dancing Petals Passive.
The first team is a more standard composition allowing Alhaitham to deal the majority of the parties damage with Baizhu applying additional Dendro application and healing as needed. The second team however utilises Nahida's powerful Dendro Application to have 3 Hydro instead.
Mono Hydro Team
Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Sub DPS | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Yelan | Furina | Sangonomiya Kokomi |
Mono Hydro teams have been around for a while but with the release of Furina, they have been able to output much higher DPS than ever before. Characters such as Yelan and Xingqiu provide a large amount of off-field damage, Kazuha is a powerful unit in general often replacing Xingqiu's damage for decreased Hydro RES while Sangonomiya Kokomi and even Furina at C6 play more of an on-field role.
Yelan's Ascensions, Talents, and Constellations
Yelan's Ascension Passives and Materials
Unlock | Ascension Passive | Explanation |
---|---|---|

Yelan requires a range of materials to ascend to the 6th ascension. Starting from the second ascension they gain additional CRIT Rate as their bonus stat giving a total of 19.2% increased CRIT Rate at the final ascension. The total cost to upgrade all ascensions is:

Boss Material | 46x Runic Fang |
Ascension Material | |
Local Specialty | 168x Starconch |

Yelan's Talents
Listed below is each talent and a simplified explanation of how they work.

This allows you to deal damage to nearby enemies and even group them together. For every enemy who you mark, you have a chance to reset the cooldown of Breakthrough. |
Elemental Burst | Depth-Clarion Dice | Deals additional Hydro DMG to enemies when attacked or when Yelan uses Lingering Lifeline. |
To upgrade a single talent to level 10, it costs:

Yelan's Constellations
Enter the Plotters (C1) is Yelan's best constellation to aim for by allowing you to drastically lower your Energy Recharge requirements and also enhancing your overworld exploration gameplay. Yelan however is a monster at higher constellations and they have the ability to make her one of the strongest characters in the game.
# | Name | Explanation |
---|---|---|
C1 | Enter the Plotters | An additional charge on Lingering Lifeline lowering Energy Recharge requirements. |
C2 | Taking All Comers | Deals an additional attack of Hydro DMG when Exquisite Throw attacks enemies. It has no Internal Cooldown, meaning your Hydro Application is increased. |
C3 | Beware the Trickster's Dice |
|
C4 | Bait-and-Switch | Increase your parties Max HP up to 10% for the first 4 enemies marked by Lingering Lifeline. This lasts 25 seconds making it a great way to boost your teams HP. |
C5 | Dealer's Sleight |
|
C6 | Winner Takes All | The next 5 arrows that Yelan fires while under the effects of Depth-Clarion Dice count as special Breakthrough Barbs. These deal hugely increased damage. This generally extends the amount of time Yelan is On-field for ranging from either a few additional seconds or until Yelan quickly eliminates enemies due to how powerful this is. |
