Control Warrior Deck Mulligan Guide
It is important to use your mulligan to look for Warrior's key Dredge cards in order to have the tempo to out-pace opponents.
- General Mulligan (keep regardless of what your opponent is playing) — From the Depths, Sir Finley, Sea Guide.
- Mulligan against Aggro (also keep if you think you are playing against an aggressive deck) — Outrider's Axe, Shield Shatter.
- Mulligan against Control (also keep if you think you are playing against a slow deck) — No further cards required.
Control Warrior Deck Strategy
During the early game, your primary aim is to draw and play From the Depths in order to discount the cards in your deck. If you do not already have the card in hand, you can make use of cycle from Shield Block and Tradeable Heavy Plates to help find it. If you are able to play From the Depths, you should then prioritise making use of Sir Finley, Sea Guide and Dredge cards like Igneous Lavagorger to access the discounted cards on the bottom of your deck.
As you enter the mid game, you can begin to play more like a midrange deck, making use of minions like Igneous Lavagorger and School Teacher to populate the board. However, if your opponent has flooded the board, it is adviseable to make use of Shield Shatter, if possible, before you start developing the board.
As your reach the late game, you can make use of your larger threats like Nellie, the Great Thresher, Tidal Revenant, and Raid Boss Onyxia to really ramp up the pressure on your opponent. The timing in which you can play these cards will vary greatly due to variance caused by From the Depths' discoumts, however, you should try to get them down as soon as possible.
To close out the game, the deck does not run a strict win condition. However, the sheer number of powerful minions in the deck combined with the large amount of Armour the deck can gain, will outsustain almost any opponent.
Against Aggro, your primary aim is to simply outlast the damage coming your way. You should try to save your Shield Shatter for a wider board to maximise its value, making use of your Shield Slam and Outrider's Axe for single threats. Once you reach the mid game, you can mitigate most of the damage with your minions, eventually winning through the chip damage slowly caused by your minions throughout the game.
Against Control, you should look use your cards more efficiently to ensure you can outlast your opponent. Using Mutanus the Devourer with Brann Bronzebeard will reduce your opponent's threats and also has a good chance of hitting Kazakusan if your opponent uses it. Large board commitments should also be avoided to avoid playing into board clears like Brawl as the game will often come down to which player has minions left.
