Ysera Battlegrounds Guide
This guide provides in-depth information to help you play the patron of the Emerald Dream Ysera better: your general gameplan, tribe and composition synergy, and additional tips to win with the hero.
Ysera
Gameplan
Ysera bursts through the emerald dream to do battle in Hearthstone with her Dragons! Each turn the tavern refreshes naturally, as well as any time you hit the refresh button for 1 gold, a Dragon will appear in Bob's Tavern. Not only does this provide instant direction to your game of battlegrounds, but also early value in tripling your minions into powerful golden versions of themselves. Buy your dragons and level on standard curve for an easy top 4 finish!
Tribes
Because of Ysera's Dream Portal passive, your Hero Power will produce Dragons early and often in your tavern. Taking an early combination of Dragon-tribe minions like Evolving Chromawing and Whelp Smuggler will be the foundation of your build throughout the game.
In the mid-game, you will look to build in one of two paths: either with Nether Drake and Chronormu or Tarecgosa and Prized Promo-Drake. While these minions can overlap onto each other for successful results, the synergy of the pairs are much stronger together.
Late-game, you are looking to finish off the composition with one or two of Nadina the Red to give your board that you have been building the entire game Divine Shield. Leading with Nadina first in your build or by giving her Taunt, your endgame build is complete.
Menagerie builds can also be successful with Ysera, considering the inclusion of dual-type minions in Battlegrounds. A build with an early Blazing Skyfin and a late Cyborg Drake can be the foundation for a great menagerie composition. Because Dragons synergize with Nadina the Red and Divine Shield, taking an Elemental option in Crackling Cyclone and an Undead option in Colossus of the Sun as powerful base minions can be the correct move to finalize your menagerie.
Important Tips & Interactions
Ysera is an interesting hero in the way that collecting triple of minions is very easy at early stages when there are very few Dragons that can appear from the dream portal. Take advantage of this to triple minions onto Tier 4, 5 and 6 discover options, where you can find much more impactful minions. Taking the triple on Tier 1 or Tier 2 to discover a 2- or 3-drop minion is a waste of your resources and may result in a lower finish.
Many players who struggle with Ysera often do not take the level to Tier 5 when it is time, instead vying to buy more Dragons to triple on Tier 4. Because Nadina is so important to your final success with the build, do not neglect going from Tier 4 to 5 when you can around Turn 9 or 10 (both 10-gold turns). Taking a triple from Tier 5 can be game-winning, while a triple on Tier 4 will be much less impactful.
