Brightwing's Talent Build Cheatsheet
Critical Mist Build
RecommendedBrightwing's Critical Mist Build, thanks to Critical Mist, focuses on denying crowd control engages from enemies while providing good healing for your team. It is a great option against compositions with many different area of effect Stuns (like Blaze and E.T.C. have) or Roots.
Teleport Build
SituationalBrightwing's Teleport Build focuses on providing great global mobility, which becomes particularly useful on larger Maps like Cursed Hollow, Garden of Terror, or the medium-sized Infernal Shrines.
At Level 16, we mention Critterize as the main Talent, since it will greatly enhance Brightwing's capabilities to kill any targeted Hero. However, Hush! is a great option if your team is more focused on dealing sustain damage, instead of on blowing up a target. Phase Out is not necessary, but is an option if you are being the target very often.
Arcane Flare Build
SituationalThe Arcane Flare Build emphasizes Brightwing's unexpectedly strong damage and crowd control when combining several Q-based talents such as Dream Shot at Level 4, Sticky Flare at Level 7, and Hush! at Level 16. Phase Out can be a helpful defensive talent to pick up at Level 16, since casting Blink Heal may sometimes cause Brightwing to get too close to the enemy team.
Level 1 Talents for Brightwing
Passive: Increase Polymorph's range by 30%.
If Brightwing hits an enemy Hero with Arcane Flare's center within 2 seconds of being Polymorphed, then reduce Polymorph's cooldown by 7 seconds and gain 50 Mana.
Increase Phase Shift's healing by an additional 6% of the target's maximum Health. Nearby enemy Minion deaths reduce Phase Shift's cooldown by 1 second.
- Cooldown: 0.25 seconds
Activate to consume 20 stacks of Bribe to instantly defeat an uncaptured non-Elite Mercenary.
Passive: Gain 1 stack of Bribe when a nearby enemy Minion dies, and 5 stacks when hitting an enemy Hero with Arcane Flare's center. Maximum 80 stacks.
Discussion
Greater Polymorph could perhaps be considered if the enemy team composition runs dangerous Melee Assassins like Illidan or The Butcher that need to be shut down for as long as possible. And even then, the extra healing and cooldown reduction coming from Hyper Shift proves to be more useful throughout the game.
Pixie Charm is only worth playing on Maps with a lot of Mercenary Camps that are also relatively safely to access, like Garden of Terror, Dragon Shire, or Sky Temple. Thanks to it, you will be able to help your team keep the macro pressure up.
Hyper Shift allows Brightwing to teleport across the battlefield a lot more frequently by staying close to dying Minions. This proves to be especially useful on larger Maps like Cursed Hollow or Garden of Terror, as Brightwing is able to split-push more efficiently if she has her Phase Shift available allowing her to assist her teammates if need be. This Talent has great synergy with Peekaboo! at Level 7, which will add a Shield and additional vision whenever Brightwing uses Phase Shift on a friendly Hero.
Level 4 Talents for Brightwing
Increase Arcane Flare's range by 50%. Hitting a Hero with Arcane Flare's center reduces its cooldown to 2 seconds.
Increase Polymorph's Slow by 15%. Upon expiration, Polymorph deals damage to nearby enemy Heroes equal to 2% of their maximum Health.
Increase Basic Attack range by 1.1. Basic Attacks against Heroes reduce the cooldown of Soothing Mist by 4 seconds.
Discussion
Dream Shot is a strong choice. The additional range allows Brightwing to keep a safer distance from her enemies, while the cooldown reduction has great synergy with Talents like Sticky Flare at Level 7 and Hush! at Level 16.
Unstable Anomaly's extra damage and Slow can be the difference between killing a priority target or not. This Talent is a great choice in games where your team needs extra crowd control to secure the kill on the Polymorphed enemy.
Magic Spit increases Brightwing's Attack Range, which allows her to stay away from enemy Heroes more easily. The additional cooldown reduction on her Trait is a great extra to have. This Talent has great synergy with Critical Mist.
Level 7 Talents for Brightwing
Enemy Heroes hit by Arcane Flare have their Movement Speed Slowed by 20% for 3 seconds. Increase the Slow to 40% if they are hit by the center portion.
Phase Shifting to an ally grants both Brightwing and her target a 335 (+4% per level) Shield for 4 seconds and reveals a large area around them for 5 seconds.
Soothing Mist heals allied Heroes for 165 (+4% per level). Increase this healing by 140% if Soothing Mist removed a disabling effect from that ally.
Discussion
Sticky Flare should mainly be considered if your team is lacking crowd control in general. Unlike other Talents related to Arcane Flare, Sticky Flare's Slow effect is a useful tool that allows you to Slow several enemies at the same time, which can aid you in many different situations.
Peekaboo! works very well if you chose Hyper Shift at Level 1. Being able to reveal Stealthed enemies like Nova or Zeratul in a large radius around your selected ally can thwart the enemy team's plans of initiating a team fight and turn the momentum in your favour. The additional Shield applied on the target is the icing on the cake that makes this Talent a very solid choice.
Critical Mist will be an excellent option in most games. Even if the opposing team has no Stuns or Roots, it can be used to cleanse a Slow and provide great healing for your teammates. It should always be paired with Magic Spit.
Level 10 Talents for Brightwing
- Mana: 40
- Charges: 2
- Recharge Time: 9 seconds
Teleport to a nearby ally. When teleporting to a Hero, heal them for 200 (+4% per level).
Stores up to 2 charges.
- Mana: 90
- Cooldown: 50 seconds
After 0.5 seconds, create an expanding nova of wind, dealing 225 (+4% per level) damage and pushing enemies away.
Discussion
In this section we discuss when and why to pick a given Heroic Ability. If you want to read how they work in detail and/or you are looking for some tips on how to use them, check them out on the Abilities and Strategy page.
Blink Heal enables Brightwing to teleport to allies over short distances, which allows her to manoeuvre both defensively and offensively during team fights. Dodging enemy Basic Attacks or skillshot Abilities like Muradin's Storm Bolt or Stitches' Hook with the help of Blink Heal allows your team to turn on the enemy without worrying about the respective crowd control effects. By the same token, Brightwing is able to use Blink Heal as a gap-closing Ability by using it on an allied unit to get in range of an enemy and cast an unexpected Polymorph on them.
Brightwing's second Heroic Ability, Emerald Wind, is a very effective, yet situational choice that needs to be used with great caution. There are several requirements that need to be met before you should decide to pick Emerald Wind instead of Blink Heal. Firstly, you should consider if you need a strong disengage Ability to counter enemy initiators like Tyrael or Anub'arak. If the opposing team consists of at least two or more aggressive Warriors, Emerald Wind may indeed become a useful tool to keep them at bay. Secondly, you need to double-check whether your team has another Support or Healer in its lineup. Heroes like Medivh or Zarya can be enough to assist Brightwing in keeping her teammates alive, which makes Emerald Wind a valid alternative to Blink Heal.
Level 13 Talents for Brightwing
Pixie Dust gives 50% bonus Movement Speed, decaying to 20% over 3 seconds.
Increase Pixie Dust's duration by 1 second. Soothing Mist and Blink Heal heal allies with an active Pixie Dust for 75% more.
Reduce the cooldown of Pixie Dust by 3 seconds and increase the Spell Armor granted by 25.
Discussion
Pixie Boost's Movement Speed Boost is usually not strong enough to outperform the extra healing and Spell Armor from the other Level 13 Talents.
Safety Dust provides a great healing boost. This Talent does not increase Phase Shift's Healing, which is Brightwing's main source of healing in teamfights. For this reason, we only recommend this Talent if the opposing team does not have many different Spell Damage Abilities to be reduced by Pixie Power.
Pixie Power provides an additional Spell Armor buff to the target of Brightwing's Pixie Dust. If the enemy team relies on Mages and their Spell Damage, this Talent becomes a great choice.
Level 16 Talents for Brightwing
Enemy Heroes hit by the center of Arcane Flare are Silenced for 1 second and deal 25% less damage for 3 seconds.
While Polymorphed, the target's Armor is reduced by 25, increasing the damage they take by 25%.
- Cooldown: 20 seconds
Activate to place Brightwing in Stasis for 0.75 seconds.
Discussion
Hush! is only recommended if you picked the other Q-related Talents at Level 4 and 7. Combined, Brightwing turns into a quite potent damage and crowd control-heavy Hero.
Critterize enables Brightwing's Polymorph to increase all damage done to a single enemy Hero by 25% by reducing their Armor, which will allow your team to burst it down very quickly. Do not hesitate to make use of Critterize against enemy Tanks to bring them down more quickly.
Phase Out can be a recommended Talent if the enemy team has a lot of burst damage and crowd control. The short 20-second cooldown makes it a very forgiving Ability.
Level 20 Talents for Brightwing
Blink Heal grants Stealth to Brightwing and her Heroic targets for 9 seconds, and they are Unrevealable for the first 0.5 seconds. While Stealthed by Invisible Friends, Heroes heal for 25 (+4% per level) health per second.
Remaining stationary for at least 1.5 seconds while Stealthed grants Invisible.
Permanently reduce Emerald Wind's cooldown to 5 seconds.
Permanently gain 20% Movement Speed. Reduce Phase Shift's cast time by 1 second.
- Cooldown: 45 seconds
Activate to apply Pixie Dust to all nearby Heroes.
Passive: Pixie Dust always bounces back and applies to Brightwing.
Discussion
Invisible Friends provides a Stealth effect on both Brightwing and the healed target. This makes the Talent a great option for saving your allies, as it makes them effectively invulnerable to targeted Abilities.
Intensive Winds is an excellent Talent. It allows Brightwing to always decide when a fight is happening. With a 5-second cooldown, Emerald Wind can be used several times in the same fight, to either disengage or to apply high damage and crowd control to the enemy team.
Speedy Dragon increases Brightwing's Movement Speed by a large margin, which makes her much harder to catch. Despite that, it divides the cast time of Phase Shift, which is an excellent improvement for fights. It will always ensure that your ally will be healed before getting hit by a high burst damage.
Faerie Protector applies a talented instance of Pixie Dust on all nearby allied Heroes. This is an excellent Talent against wombo combo compositions. It is excellent with Safety Dust and Critical Mist, as it can be used right before a Soothing Mist activation, providing great heals for your whole team.
