Introduction

Tomb of the Spider Queen is a 3-lane Map belonging to the Nexus universe. The signature Objective of this Map are Webweavers. One per lane, they will fight alongside the team who pays the required amount of Gems, dealing heavy damage to enemy Structures on their way.

Lane Assignments

Here you can find one or more formations that are viable on this Map. Keep in mind that positions in lane are not strict and will often change based on the situation.

3.1.

Formation 4-1

The go-to formation for Tomb of the Spider Queen is 4-1:

  • 4 Heroes rotate between the middle and the top lane;
  • 1 Hero, the Offlaner, covers the bottom lane.
4.

Map Strategy

  • At 1:00 minute, you could try to sneak-capture the neutral Siege Camp in the bottom lane with the help of a second Hero that you sent there beforehand. While doing so, do not play for the allied Bruiser Camp in the middle lane because they may need your help in the bottom lane.
  • At 1:00 minute or right before a team gets Webweavers, start clearing the allied Bruiser Camp in the middle lane and capture it as soon as possible. To make this Mercenary Camp join the lane in front of allied Minions, capture it at 1:35 minutes or 5 seconds after a wave of Minions spawned.
  • After that, if your team has an advantage, start clearing the neutral Siege Camp in the bottom lane and capture it as soon as possible.
  • When your team has enough Gems, prepare waves to be even vertically and pay to get Webweavers. When paying, someone should give vision in nearby bushes so you don't get caught by surprise and lose all your Gems.
  • When the enemy team has enough Gems, ruin waves to not be even vertically and stop the enemy Hero who is carrying the highest amount of Gems from paying, however, be careful not to die in the process because having a numerical disadvantage will only make defending from Webweavers harder.
  • After 10:00 minutes, whenever your team has an advantage or right after all allied Webweavers have been killed, you can pay Gems and capture the Boss Camp at the same time by taking aggro of the Boss while paying the last few Gems, and then push with them. Avoid doing it earlier if you do not have a dedicated team composition.

Mercenary Camps

As shown in the image below, Tomb of the Spider Queen has a total of 4 Mercenary Camps:

  • 1 neutral Boss Camp in the top lane;
  • 2 allied/enemy Bruiser Camps in the middle lane;
  • 1 neutral Siege Camp in the bottom lane.

Mercenary Camps on Tomb of the Spider Queen disappear from the battlefield once the Webweavers begin spawning and reappear only after all Webweavers have been killed.

Mercenary Camps indicated with a red icon are immune to Bribe effects.

5.1.

Siege Camp

This type of Mercenary Camp features 2 Giants. Once captured, it spawns the same units fighting for your team in the corresponding lane. When possible, push with them to get more value.

Spawn Respawn
1:00 minute 3:00 minutes after its last capture

Instead of attacking enemies with Basic Attacks, Giants throw stones at them. These stones can be dodged, so it is possible to capture them without taking any damage. Once captured, they are capable of damaging enemy Structures without getting in their range. Giants deal 100% bonus damage to Structures.

5.2.

Bruiser Camp

This type of Mercenary Camp features 3 Knights and 1 Wizard. Once captured, it spawns the same units fighting for your team in the corresponding lane. When possible, push with them to get more value.

Spawn Respawn
1:00 minute 4:00 minutes after its last capture

Right after being captured and while in lane, the Wizard creates a Spell Armor field around him which reduces some of the damage taken by Minions, Mercenaries, and Heroes within range. Avoid fighting the enemy team if they still have a Wizard helping them!

5.3.

Boss Camp

This type of Mercenary Camp features 1 Sand Golem. Once captured, it spawns the same unit fighting for your team in the corresponding lane. When possible, push with it to get more value.

Spawn Respawn
5:00 minutes 5:00 minutes after its last capture

While in combat, the Sand Golem will use Mega Smash (10-second cooldown) to damage and Stun all enemies in melee range and Whirling Sands (15-second cooldown) to do slight damage and Knockback enemies who get hit by them.

6.

Map Objective

The signature Objective of Tomb of the Spider Queen consists of 3 Webweavers that spawn after paying enough Gems. In order to pay, Heroes have to channel for 6 seconds. Whenever a team pays enough Gems, after a 15-second delay, a Webweaver will spawn in each lane. Webweavers can use Death Wave (7-second cooldown and 4-second channel), a powerful Ability to deal damage in front of them, and Spawn Minions (20-second cooldown), which summons 2 Cryptcrawlers.

Spawn Respawn
30 seconds 15 seconds after the Webweavers die
Tomb of the Spider Queen Objective 1
Collect Gems
Enemy spider minions and Heroes drop magical gems upon death. Gather as many as you can!
Tomb of the Spider Queen Objective 2
Turn in Gems
Relinquish your gems at one of the Spider Queen's altars or you will drop them all when you die!
Tomb of the Spider Queen Objective 3
Summon Webweavers
Whichever team turns in enough gems first will unleash the Webweavers to destroy their enemy's defenses.

You need 50 Gems to pay, plus 5 Gems for each time your team already got Webweavers during the game. If your team has enough Gems to pay, the Gems counter (under the Minimap) for your team will glow. Ranged Minions, Murky, The Lost Vikings, and Misha drop 1 Gem. All other enemy Heroes drop 3 Gems. Heroes can carry a maximum of 100 Gems.

Gems are lost on death, but allied Heroes have 8 seconds to pick them up from the ground before they disappear. Keep in mind that enemy Heroes can see where they are, so smart opponents will try to zone you away from them.

Right before winning the Objective, you should ideally prepare waves so that allied Webweavers reach enemy Structures at the same time in every lane and thus the enemy team cannot easily defend them one at a time. Similarly, right before losing the Objective, you can ruin waves to weaken enemy Webweavers.

7.

Core Ability

Every 5 seconds, the Core will shoot a Death Wave, dealing 5% maximum Health as damage to enemy Heroes and Slowing them by 70% for 1.25 seconds.

8.

Win Conditions

To win the game on Tomb of the Spider Queen, you should count on any of the following win conditions:

9.

Tips and Tricks

  • Use the first Healing Fountain (2-minute cooldown) at or before 0:30 minutes because teams will generally get enough Gems to pay between 2:30 and 3:00 minutes, so you will have it back in time for that.
  • You do not need to use your Mount while rotating between the middle and the top lane because they are very close to each other. Movement Speed effects (notably Crossfade - Speed Boost Icon Crossfade - Speed Boost by Lucio) help with that.
  • Every time you have 10 Gems or more, pay to avoid losing them on death. Gems that fall on the ground and are not collected in time will be lost forever, causing your team to get fewer Webweavers throughout the game.
  • You can press Tab to see who has the highest amount of Gems among enemy Heroes. Use that information to not let that Hero pay while your team does or to kill them when no other enemy Heroes are nearby to pick up their lost Gems.
  • If your team has an advantage and enough Gems to get Webweavers, you can aggro the Boss while the last few Gems are being paid. By keeping the Boss in combat, the Boss Camp does not disappear from the battlefield while Webweavers are alive, so you can clear it and capture it while Webweavers are spawning and then push with Webweavers and Boss at the same time.
  • You can bait the Sand Golem's Whirling Sands on the enemy side of the battlefield by staying there right before they spawn. This way, if the enemy team invades the Boss Camp, they will have annoying tornadoes on their path.
