Beastmaster Raptor Squad Endgame Build for Last Epoch (Patch 1.2)
Welcome to our Last Epoch Beastmaster Raptor Squad build guide for the Primalist class. Here you will learn everything about the Beastmaster play style, passives, skills, strengths, and weaknesses to conquer the world of Eterra.
Build Introduction
Direct a prehistoric army of dinosaurs! Your Raptors will tear enemies apart with this build, focusing on massive critical hits to take down even the toughest enemies. The Raptors under your command will go berserk upon smelling even the faintest hint of blood, making their attacks hit even harder.
Raptor's attacks deal a large amount of damage in single-target
High amount of sustain through
Swipe
Lacks a good source of AoE clear
Raptors require player to dictate their movement to avoid one-shot mechanics in certain fights
Skill Selection
This build offers a more hands-on approach to minions, something not
very common in Last Epoch. To start, we will only be using a single
type of Companion, Raptors ( Summon Raptor. Through the unique
sword, Naal's Tooth, the build allows us to summon Raptors up to our
Companion Limit, which will be 5. Every other skill taken supports these
Raptors in different ways.
Warcry and
Summon Frenzy Totem
are both set and forget, mostly, while
Swipe and
Fury Leap
are more active abilities that will directly buff and command the Raptors during combat.

Class and Skill Passive Trees
Our base Class is the Primalist, which acts as a generic caster, brawler, or companion summoner. Our character will be offered an
opportunity to select an Advanced Mastery once we have completed the first act of the campaign. Each base Class has three
possible Masteries to choose from. For the Primalist, we have access to the Mastery Tree Passives for Beastmaster,
Shaman and Druid. Upon selecting a Mastery and placing 20 Passive points in the Primalist Tree, you'll then
be able to place Passive points in the Mastery Trees.
This build will be taking Beastmaster as its advanced class. We will utilize the majority of our Passive Points in the Beastmaster Passive Tree, increasing our Companion Limit, increasing Minion Damage, accessing powerful buffs that apply to both us and our Raptors, and boosting the defenses of our own character. Druid's tree will also be used, with only a few points used for defensive scaling.
Primalist Passive Points
- 7 points in Primal Strength: Increases our Strength and Health Regeneration.
- 6 points in Gift of the Wilderness: Additional Health and Minion Health.
- 1 point in Harmony of Blades: Enables dual wielding at the cost of taking 9% extra damage.
- 6 points in Survival of the Pack: Increases our Melee Damage and gives us Health Leech. Applies to Minions as well.

- 1 point in Hunters of the Deep: Massively important, as this node allows our Raptors to partake in the buffs from Aspect of the Shark.
- 5 points in Porcine Constitution: Increases our Damage Reduction and Health Regen.
- 5 points in Life in the Wilderness: Vitality, Endurance Threshold, and Companions now benefit from our Endurance stats.
- 1 point in The Circle Of Life: Pathing node.
- 1 point in Nature's Embrace: +1 Raptor.

- 8 points in Cry of the Lynx: Using the active skill for Raptors (Rampage) will now grant Aspect of the Lynx.
- 6 points in Serrated Claws: Aspect of the Lynx now provides 60% Critical Multiplier, and your Raptors get another 60% Crit Multiplier just for existing.

Druid Passive Points
- 5 points in Chitinous Plating: Increases our own Endurance and Armor, and adds Armor to our Raptors.
Summon Raptor
Summon Raptor is the main, and almost only, damage source in this build. With that in mind, this
build focuses on doing everything in it's power to boost the destructive damage of the Raptors' attacks.
This is mainly done through the Caompanion Skill, Rampage, and multiplicative modifiers within the passive tree,
boosting damage when the Raptors attack Bleeding enemies. To add some spice to the build concept, Naal's Tooth
will be used to give us a cap of 5 Raptors at our disposal. There's a massive amount of added points in the Raptor tree.
It's okay if you're missing a few, but an attempt should be made to get as many as possible.
Order of Skill Points
- 4 points in Vicious Rampage: Doubles the effect of Rampage.
- 4 points in Predator: 160% Increased Critical Hit Chance for Raptors.
- 2 points in Cornered: Multiplicative modifier for Raptor damage based on their missing health.
- 1 point in Broken Tooth: Raptors gain 20% Attack Speed, but have a chance to lose 10% of their health on each hit.
- 3 points in Razor Wings: Additional 15 Melee Damage.
- 1 point in Thrill of the Hunt: Raptors gain Haste on kill.
- 1 point in Adaptation: Raptors can now "Evolve", gaining size and damage after killing 10 enemies in a zone.
- 5 points in Scent of Blood: Raptors deal 50% more damage to enemies inflicted with Bleed.
- 5 points in Ravage: Raptors gain 100% Critical Chance and Multiplier against Bleeding enemies.
- 3 points in Vexation: Increases the duration of Rampage, helping to maintain 100% uptime on the buff with some support from
Summon Frenzy Totem.
- 1 point in Challenger: Raptors will use Rampage on their own if they encounter a rare or boss enemy.
Fury Leap
Fury Leap is the mobility skill for the build, and doubles as a way to direct your Raptors
to attack specific targets, as they will leap with you! This skill does much more, as it also increases
the Melee Damage your Raptors deal and pulls enemies together, allowing
Swipe to have an
easier time cleaving multiple enemies. Feel free to spam this as you see fit. While the Mana cost is high, Swipe removes
any and all Mana problems from the build.
Order of Skill Points
- 5 points in Warrior's Entrance: Using Fury Leap adds Melee Damage to your Raptors for 3 seconds.
- 1 point in Pack Leader: This enables the Raptors to Leap with you.
- 4 points in Crater: Increases area by 100% and reduces the Mana cost by 8.
- 1 point in Heorot's Protection: You are invincibile while Leaping.
- 2 points in Panther Strike: Taken for the Cooldown Reduction.
- 3 points in Ambush Predator: Pathing node.
- 1 point in Gravity: Landing will pull enemies together.
- 4 points in Savage Impact: Provides some leech when jumping into large packs of enemies.
- 1 point in Aspect of the Mantis: Fury Leap's cooldown can now be reset if you jump a short distance and kill an enemy. This won't happen often, but it's a nice bonus when it does.
Rather than the last two nodes, it may be beneficial for you to path towards Battle Bloom instead. Cleansing is very useful in certain fights, such as Aberroth. It wasn't taken here for the general outline as it heals our Raptors, and we want to keep a balance of keeping them alive, but not at full health.
Swipe
Swipe is forced in this build, mainly because of it's interaction with
Warcry, which we will get into later.
However, even without looking at that, Swipe removes all Mana problems with the build and let's us spam all of
our actions as much as we want without much care at all. Additionally, Swipe comes with a kill threshold of 14%. While
current Last Epoch is a bit unfriendly towards these nodes, it is still useful for certain enemies.
Order of Skill Points
- 5 points in Aspect of the Panther: Allows you to gain 5 stacks of Aspect of the Panther.
- 1 point in Feline Hunter: Each stack of Aspect of the Panther now grants 12% increased Attack Speed. This is the real reason we want to path this way through the skill.
- 2 points in Lion's Strength: Caps Aspect of the Panther at 7 stacks.
- 2 points in Blood Beast: 40% chance to Bleed enemies. Perfect synergy with Raptors.
- 4 point in Rending: 100% chance to shred Physical Resistance. We attack so fast, expect to be able to get to 10 stacks as long as the enemy lives long enough to be hit 10 times.
- 3 points in Duality of Nature: Each hit with Swipe gains 6 mana and 14 health.
- 2 points in Way of the Hunt: Pathing node.
- 4 points in Wengarian Reach: 36% increased area with Swipe, great for hitting large amounts of mobs at a time.
- 2 points in Culling: 14% kill threshold.
Summon Frenzy Totem
Summon Frenzy Totem works as an enabler for the entire build, and honestly can't function without it. Not only
does it send our Raptors into a full on Frenzy, it provides them with a massive amount of flat Melee Damage, Resistances that
are required for them to survive in Empowered Monolith, and resets Rampage, the Raptor Companion Skill. Frenzy Totem can be
kept up at 100% uptime, which also allows Rampage to be managed the same way. Be mindful, this Totem will not effect us; only the
Raptors.
Order of Skill Points
- 3 points in Revitalizing Totem: Boosted Health Regen.
- 1 point in Symbol of Haste: Grants Raptors 2 seconds of Haste.
- 1 point in Symbol of Selflessness: Totem now gives 30% increased buffs, but only effects Raptors.
- 3 points in Warding Totem: Raptors gain 60% Physical and Elemental Resistance.
- 5 points in Grounded: Each Raptor gains a flat 25 Melee Damage while Frenzy Totem is active.
- 3 points in Rabidity: Frenzy granted by Frenzy Totem is 24% more effective.
- 5 points in Bestial Frenzy: Companions are granted 20 Melee Physical Damage when the Frenzy Totem is summoned.
- 1 point in Furious Cry: Placing down a Frenzy Totem refreshes Rampage.
Warcry
Warcry does not need to be spammed with this build; so long as the stacks you're generating off it (through
Swipe)
are kept at cap, there's no reason to use Warcry again, unless it's to refresh stacks between mob packs. We're saying this
for one important reason, and that's because Warcry comes with 1 second of invulnerability attached to it.
Fury Leap has a similar function,
so having both of these on hand is very useful for cheesing attacks that would otherwise kill you, or force you to dodge them. Otherwise, when
speaking to the offensive capabilities of Warcry, it's a massive enabler for Raptor damage.
Order of Skill Points
- 1 point in Juggernaut: Makes you invulnerable for 1 second.
- 1 point in Berserker: Grants Berserk on use, adding Melee Damage per stack, with stacks being added when we hit
an enemy with
Swipe or
Fury Leap. Using Warcry again will also refresh and/or add a stack.
- 5 points in Brutality: Berserk now lasts much longer, and is able to gain an additional 5 stacks.
- 3 points in Fury Strikes: Allows for an extra 48% Attack Speed. This caps at 4 stacks, much lower than the actual cap of 15.
- 1 point in Bloodthirst: Berserk stacks now apply to your Raptors.
- 2 points in Staggering Roar: Nothing but a pathing node.
- 1 point in Shallow Breath: Reduces Warcry's cooldown to 5 seconds, allowing more flexibility with the skill in order to upkeep Berserk stacks and more freely use the skill to become immune to damage.
- 1 point in Apprehend: Warcry now pulls enemies towards you, nullifying one of the most annoying things about being a melee build; missing due to range.
- 2 points in Deep Roar: Warcry now hits in a larger area.
- 3 points in Battle Cry: Warcry provides you and Raptors 75% increased Critical Strike Chance.
Build Mechanics and Playstyle
While Raptors are fairly simple to play, there are a lot of moving parts, so we'll do our best to break them down and give you a full understanding of how the build works. This is one of the few minion builds in the game that actually depends on the player to enable the minions rather than just setting them down and forgetting about them while they run through maps ahead of you. This build is high CPM (clicks per minute), so be wary. If you're looking for a more relaxed playstyle, this is not it. However, if you're looking for a build that allows you some agency over how it's played with minions, then you're in luck. The Raptor buffs can be looked at from three perspectives; Active, Passive, and Aspect buffs.
Active Buffs
Falling under the Active Buff category we have Swipe and
Warcry. Both of these skills
are intertwined together in the build due to Berserk stacks, a feature inside of Wacry that
provides the Raptors with additional flat damage and attack speed. In order to keep these stacks at the
cap (15), you need to actively be hitting something. Even destructable environmental objects count.
Dropping these is a huge DPS loss, and should only be done when you absolutely can not find an enemy to hit, or
when doing so would get you killed. This build makes it so we attack extremely fast. To the point where
if we actually placed more effort into self damage, it may actually work out to an extent. However, don't be fooled. The damage
we deal, even with the insanely fast attack speed, is nothing compared to the Raptors.
Once you're at 15 stacks, your only job is to maintain them. This can be done with Fury Leap as well if needed.
It takes some getting used to, but after playing the build for several hours, it's likely you build a bit of an inner
timer where you can kind of sense the buff about to run out. Once you're at this point of being comfortable, you only need to
hit an enemy in order to refresh stacks, and it makes the build much safer since it doesn't require full melee uptime in order to
keep your Companions cracked out.
Passive Buffs
The passive buffs for the build come mainly from Summon Frenzy Totem and the Raptor Companion Skill,
Rampage.
We consider these passive due to the fact you do not need to be actively engaged with enemies in order to get them to benefit
the Raptors. They just need to be pressed on cooldown, which is approximately every 6 seconds. This is probably the most annoying part
of the build, as the required button pressing on this can be quite obnoxious. The saving grace here is Rampage will activate on it's own
when you find a rare enemy or boss.
Aspects
This build utilizes several "Aspect" buffs through the Beastmaster and Swipe passive trees. These are:
- Aspect of the Shark – Activated off melee hit, and able to be kept on at all times, Aspect of the Shark increases Melee Damage and Attack Speed for us and the Raptors. Incredibly important, and buffed to include Armor Shred chance.
- Aspect of the Lynx – When we activate
Rampage, this Aspect activates, granting Raptors massive buffs to Critical Strike Chance and Multiplier. By capping the points in this node, we ensure we can maintain this buff at full uptime.
- Aspect of the Panther – Grants us 84% increased Attack Speed. This is extremely important for ensuring we can safely upkeep Berserk stacks, but also comes in handy for applying Physical Shred, Armor Shred, and maintaining Mana.
- Aspect of the Boar – Purely a defensive Aspect, but a strong one at that. Porcine Constitution allows us to gain Aspect of the Boar on melee hit, while also granting us 15% extra reduced damage taken, coming to a total of 30% overall. This also completely negates (and more) the increased damage we take due to dual wielding.
Equipment and Gear Affixes
Please be patient! With the embargo lifted on build and planner information for Patch 1.2 just recently, this build does not have an LETools link yet, but it will shortly! Check back soon for an update.
Uniques
While there is a lot of uniques included in this planner, most of them are very easy to acquire. The one that isn't is the build enabler. So by the time you manage to get it (Naal's Tooth), you should already have access to everything else.
- Naal's Tooth – Reign of Dragons
- The build really won't work without this, so it's imperative it's acquired before following the advice in this guide. You can, of course, manipulate certain aspects of things to facilitate a single Raptor. However, this sword lets us summon Raptors up to our Companion Limit (5), and provides a ton of skill levels to the build overall.
- Artor's Legacy – The Black Sun
- A fairly easy drop to get, even with Legendary Potential. This adds an extra Raptor to the gang of dinos and increases our Attack Speed. With the ability to slam LP in Patch 1.2, getting T7 Minion Critical Strike Multiplier is free.
- Death Rattle – The Age of Winter
- A staple in most minion builds, this amulet adds a ton of Minion Crit Multi to your Raptors. If unable to acquire with LP, an Exalted Turquoise Amulet will also work just fine.
- Beast King – Reign of Dragons
- Since we don't care about the damage we deal ourselves, this is a great pickup for the build that adds some survivibility. While it won't do much for bossing, while in maps it's basically a permanent 8% less damage taken modifier. This axe does something just as important though, and provides a lot of Bleed Chance, something required in order to maximize the Raptor's damage.
- Ribbons of Blood – Abomination (Fall of the Outcasts Timeline)
- A must-have ring for this set up. Provides the Raptors with massive defensive laying by removing crits from the list of things that can kill them, and providing them with enough leech to sustain their health pools, but still allowing them to take damage to take advantage of Broken Tooth.
- Phantom Grip – The Age of Winter
- While this ring is not mandatory, it's still a great option because it's one of the few ways to add flat Critical Strike Chance to your minions. Worry about this when you start climbing Corruption, and when you have a better handle on your resistances.
Idols
Idol slots are gained through the campaign, unlocking small bonuses and unique affixes for the player to discover and augment their builds with. The Idol screen consists of a grid system for the player to fill out with different sized idols, eventually filling in every part of the grid. As the Idol shape increases (1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, etc.) the stronger an affix you might find for your build.
Some may find this to be a bit boring, while others may be very happy about it; Idol acquisition for this build is almost entirely generic Humble Idols. Fix your resistances with these, and bolster your Health. That should be the priority here. If you can fit in class Idols, that's great, as you can choose to craft on those using the new Woven crafting bench.
Blessing
Blessings are permanent buffs that are applied to your character. These come in two different powers, Standard and Grand. Grand blessings are significantly stronger than the Standard Blessings. In total, there are 10 Blessing Slots, one for each Monolith Timeline. When you complete a Monolith and defeat the final boss you will be awarded a choice of three blessing with a random value.
Blessing Name | Affix | Timeline |
---|---|---|
Grand Memory of Light | Health | The Black Sun |
Grand Rhythm of the Tide | Increased Health Regen, Health Regen | Ending the Storm |
Grand Vigor of Jormun | Endurance Threshold | The Age of Winter |
Grand Spirit of Command | Increased Minion Damage | Spirits of Fire |
Grand Survival of Might | Critical Strike Avoidance | Reign of Dragons |
