Endless Arena Overview for Last Epoch
The Endless Arena is a way to compete with other players, where you can face infinite waves of enemies with increasing difficulty. The more waves you clear, the higher your rank on the ladder. Participating in the Endless Arena helps you improve your build and strategy! In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know about the Endless Arena in Last Epoch.
Introduction
Last Epoch has many endgame activities to keep you entertained, such as the Arena. Inside the Arena, two different modes are available: the Arena of Champions, and the Endless Arena. This guide will focus on the Endless Arena. It is one of the most challenging and competitive endgame modes, where you can test your skills and builds, and see how you rank among other players on the leaderboard.
What Is the Endless Arena
The Endless Arena is where you can push yourself to the limit. In there, you will face a fierce battle that will only end when you die or choose to give up. You will fight wave after wave of enemies, and your goal is to clear as many waves as you can. Each cleared wave will make the next one stronger, which in turn increases the difficulty, as it makes enemies harder and harder to defeat.
There are four spawn points inside the arena, so you need to find a good position in order to not fight all four packs at the same time.
Every five waves you will reach a checkpoint; some barrels will appear, along with a Wandering Blacksmith and a Stash, giving you the opportunity to take a break or empty your inventory. Once you are ready to start the next wave, you can click on the UI button. The Blacksmith, Stash, and any remaining items you left on the ground will disappear.
After 10 waves are defeated, you will be sent to a new random Arena map.
You will see a wave counter on your screen during every Arena run, showing you how many waves you have cleared. The more waves you complete, the more the enemies will increase in level, damage and health, but also the more experience and loot you will get.
An Endless Arena run will only end when you die, or when you decide to quit the run.
Accessing the Arena
The Arena can be accessed from Champion's Gate, a place in the Divine Era that you can reach from Heoborea. The first time you travel there, head to Wengari Fortress and follow the path through Kolheim Pass, until you find The Champion's Gate.
To enter the Arena you need to spend an Arena Key, which can be obtained as a drop from the Monolith of Fate, or as an optional reward from an Arena run. The Monolith of Fate is another endgame system that consists of randomly generated timelines with different modifiers and objectives. Each time you complete 5 Echoes in a row without dying inside the Monolith of Fate, you will get an Arena Key, and there is a small chance of obtaining more keys in between. Additionally, keys can also be obtained inside the reward chest when abandoning an Arena Run. The chance for a key to be in the chest will scale depending on the amount of waves you completed before quitting. The more waves you cleared, the higher the chance of getting another key.
Furthermore, it is important to know that there is a special key for the Endless Arena, the Arena Key of Memory! This key lets you resume your Endless run if you die. For example, if you made it to wave 1000, and started the Arena with a Key of Memory, you can start again from wave 500, instead of wave 0. If you have never made it to wave 100, this key will start you at wave 100.
Tips and Tricks
The Endless Arena is a very challenging mode within Last Epoch. You need to be skilled and prepared if you want to survive many waves in a row.
To that end, here are some tips and tricks to help you in the Endless Arena:
- Choose a suitable build: The right setup can make or break your run in the Endless Arena. You need a build that can deal enough damage and take enough hits. And you also need a build that you know how to play well, as you need to know your strengths and weaknesses, and how to use your skills effectively.
- Optimize your gear: The Endless Arena will test your gear and skills to the limit. Enemies will get stronger and stronger, so you need the best gear you can get. We recommend you farm some Monolith of Fate for high tier gear and affixes, before you enter the Endless Arena.
- Learn map layouts: Knowing where to position yourself and where enemies spawn will give you an edge. Avoid getting trapped or surrounded, as that can be fatal. Find the best spots to fight enemies one by one, or to kite them around.
- Manage your resources and cooldowns: The Endless Arena is fast and intense, and you can't afford to run out of health potions, mana, or any other resource. You also need to time your cooldowns well, and use them when they are most needed.
- Know when to exit: The Endless Arena has no end, and you can either die or choose to quit. The only ways to get rewards in the Endless Arena are from the loot that appears every 5 waves, and from the chest that appears when you quit. If you die, you will not get the additional chest. You need to know your limits, and quit when you can, to maximize your runs.
- Don't farm the arena for loot, it is not worth it. The Endless Arena is for players who want to challenge themselves. If you want loot, you should focus on the Monolith of Fate or Dungeons.
Leaderboard
The leaderboard ladder is a feature in Last Epoch that shows how well players have done in the Endless Arena. The ladder has four categories: Hardcore, Softcore, Solo Self-Found Hardcore, and Solo Self-Found Softcore. Each category has its own list of players, ranked by the highest wave they have cleared in the Endless Arena. It shows the level, name, and class of each player.
You can access the leaderboard ladder in game by pressing “L” (this is the default key if you have not changed any keybinds). The ladder is updated regularly during a Cycle (Season), and will start over at each new Cycle. This is the only way to compete with others in Last Epoch. If you participate in the Endless Arena during a Cycle, you will have to push yourself to the limit to reach the top of the ladder.
Rewards
The Endless Arena mainly rewards you with experience and loot. The more waves you clear, the more experience and better loot you get.
The loot includes gold, items, runes, glyphs, and idols. Some items are Unique or Set items that have special bonuses and effects for your build. You can also use the Wandering Blacksmith and the Stash every fifth wave, where you can buy, sell, and store items. Additionally, every five waves, you will see some barrels with loot, and if you quit the run, you will also get an extra chest with loot. The loot in the barrels and chest will improve in quantity and quality as you clear more waves.
The three bosses will also drop some unique loot:
- Penumbra (Unique Ring) - Dropped by The Crimson Blade
- Omen of Thunder (Unique Belt) - Dropped by Alfrig Wolfmaw
- Vaion's Chariot (Unique Boots) - Dropped by Vaion the Arsenal
Summary
The Endless Arena is a very tough endgame mode. It is a game mode where players face infinite hordes of enemies in a never-ending battle, and compete with others on the leaderboards. The Endless Arena requires good game knowledge, patience, great gear, and perfect mechanics. In short: it is for those who want to challenge themselves and compare their skills to others.
