Fall of the Empire - Harton’s Husk Boss Guide

Harton's Husk is the final boss of the Fall of the Empire Monolith Timeline in Last Epoch. The fight takes place in the Dreadnought’s Wreckage arena and is a single-phase encounter focused on overlapping AoE pressure and sustained survivability rather than burst damage. Two high-health Idols of Ruin will be present during the fight. They both have as much health as the boss, which incentivizes you to keep them alive during the full fight. You have to evade their attacks, on top of the Boss's attacks. However, defeating Harton ends the fight, so there is no need to kill the minions/idols.

Boss Mechanics

Here is a detailed breakdown of all major abilities and what to watch out for.

2.1.

Idols of Ruins (Minions)

The Idols of Ruin are the two minions that spawn and have high health. While you can kill them, we don't recommend it as they have both the exact same amount of health as Harton, so focusing on them is not really useful. They only have three skills.

  • A melee-range bite, which is a Physical Melee attack, so try to not stay too close to them.
  • Death Seeker: a Void damage line that will directly target a player. You will see the line stop at a specific spot before it fires, which gives you a second to dash/evade out of it.
  • Barrage of Ruin: this attack is a massive AoE void attack that deals damage over time if you get hit, and gets stronger the longer it is channeled.
2.2.

Oblivion Spike

Harton fire two massive lines in front of him, that both deal Void damage over time if you get hit or stand in them. The lines remain a certain amount of time, so make sure to evade before the attack hits, and to keep an eye on them until they go away, in order to not stand in it. This attack is not too hard to escape as you will see the lines incoming, and should have plenty of time to run out of it.

2.3.

Abyssal Sunder

This is an attack that Harton will launch only after reaching 65% HP. Abyssal Sunder will be cumulated with Oblivion Spike, creating additional spikes on the lines that will do more Void damage and make the damage over time increase with time.

2.4.

Claw Slam

This attack is rather simple to avoid. Harton just slams the ground in front of him with his claws. If you get hit, it will deal Physical damage. You can evade it by paying attention to the boss's movements; when he raises his claws in the air, he’s about to smash them down, so evade at that moment.

2.5.

Corrupted Slash

Harton will just slash in front of him with his Staff, and deal minor Physical and Void damage. Can be evaded when you see him pull back his staff, ready to slash.

2.6.

Void Stab

This attack will leave a large AoE Void circle on the ground in front of Harton. He will raise his staff and begin charging before stabbing in front of him with a void circle. When he starts charging, run away.

Encounter Walkthrough & Strategy

This is a one-phase fight, but it gets hectic due to overlapping AoEs and constant minion interference.

  • Stay mobile. Most damage is avoidable if you keep moving.
  • Avoid Oblivion Spike, as they deal the most sustained damage over time.
  • Ignore the Idols of Ruin. They are tanky and not worth the effort to kill.
  • Keep your movement skills ready (e.g., Shift, Teleport, Lunge) to reposition through incoming AoEs.
  • Focus damage on Harton and keep your distance whenever possible.
  • Watch your resistances: Void and Physical damage are the main threats here.
3.1.
  • 75% Void Resistance
  • 75% Physical Resistance
  • High movement speed greatly improves survival odds.
4.

Unique Boss-Specific Rewards

Harton's Husk has four possible unique drops:

Bulwark of the Last Abyss and Trident of the Last Abyss are both common unique drops with a 50% chance each. However, they are mutually exclusive, which means you will only get one per kill. These can drop in both Normal and Empowered versions, and their drop rates are not affected by Corruption levels.

Nightbringer is a rare unique that can technically drop in Normal timelines, but your best chance to get it is in Empowered Monoliths with higher Corruption.

Anchor of Oblivion is exclusive to Empowered Monoliths and is considered a rare drop. Similar to Nightbringer, its drop rate scales with corruption.

Harbinger of Treason

The Harbinger for this Timeline if the Harbinger of Treason. She will keep some of Harton’s skill:

  • She will use Harton’s Abyssal Sunder and Oblivion Spike, but instead of only two lines in front of her, she will create four lines attacking in a cross shape from the Harbinger outwards.
  • Void Stab: She will also use the circle ground Void AoE, but it will deal more damage than it does for Harton
  • Idols of Ruin: one disadvantage of not killing the Idols, is that they will keep attacking during the fight against the Harbinger, making it slightly harder for you.
6.1.

Harbinger Unique Drops

  • Wall of Nothing
  • Harbinger's Needle

Additionally, Harbingers drop the Harbinger Eye which is needed if you want to summon Aberroth.
