Ending the Storm - Lagon Boss Guide

Lagon is the final boss of the Ending the Storm Monolith Timeline in Last Epoch. The encounter takes place in the Eye of the Storm and is split into three distinct phases.Lagon is one of the hardest bosses in the game, as he has a big one-shot mechanic that will kill all but the tankiest of builds, and also possesses multiple other mechanics that can wipe most other builds depending on Corruption and character level. With Lagon, you need to know exactly where to place yourself.

2.

Boss Mechanics

Here is a breakdown of all major mechanics used during the Lagon encounter.

2.1.

Moon Beam (Channel)

This is one of Lagon’s Deadliest attack. It can almost instantly wipe any build if you get hit. He will Basically move to either side of the arena, and then swipe across the whole arena with a massive beam that deals huge Lightning and Cold damage. As soon as he turns to a side, run towards the other side as fast as possible, and position yourself at the very edge.

2.2.

Moon Beam (Hit)

This Beam is used after Lagon hits 65% HP or less. This time, Lagon will fire the Beam right in front of him. He slightly lowers his down before shooting out, so move to the side when he does that. Same as the previous one, if you get hit, it deals massive Cold and Lightning damage.

2.3.

Moon Blast

Lagon will slightly rise up and lift both his arms, placing a large white AoE on the ground. You have a split second to move out before he detonates it, dealing massive Cold and Lightning damage.

2.4.

Lightning Strikes

Lagon will spawn small lightning circles all over the arena. There is a small delay before they detonate so you can keep moving to not get touched. Those do not do too much damage, but it’s still better if you don’t get hit.

2.5.

Claw Smash

Lagon Lifts one of his Claw and smashes it down. This attack deals Physical damage and can stun you, so make sure to evade it when he starts raising one of his claw.

Once Lagon drops to 50% health, he will teleport you on the arena underneath, starting Phase 2.

2.6.

Tentacles

This is a Phase two attack. Lagon will disappear and spawn a few tentacles that can hit you. You have to kill them all to progress to Phase 3, so simply hit them while making sure they don't hit you, as they can stun you. At the same time other attacks will also come towards you, so keep an eye out for other incoming hits. One of these are small cold waves that will keep coming at you. Make sure to evade them.

Once the Tentacles are dead, you will start Phase 3, which is similar to the first one, but he can also spawn the Phase two attacks. This means you'll be dodging elemental attacks while also dealing with his eye beams and claw attacks.

3.

Encounter Walkthrough & Strategy

The first phase takes place on a small platform. Focus on dodging the beams and lightning while maintaining damage on Lagon. Second Phase you have to kill the Tentacles and make sure to not get hit by the incoming attacks. Phase 3 is similar to the first one, but with all the rest on top.

  • Stay mobile — Make sure to always move around, especially on the phase with the Tentacles, as a lot of stuff can come towards you, and the Tentacles can stun you easily.
  • Watch closely at Lagon’s movements — most attacks are avoidable if you react quickly, so always keep an eye at what he does: if he lifts his claws, looks to the sides, moves his head down, etc.
  • Do not linger on the arena edge — while the edge can be safe for some mechanic, it can also get you stuck for others.
3.1.
  • 75% Lightning Resistance
  • 75% Cold Resistance
  • High movement speed and mobility skills are essential, as well as heavy defensive layers
4.

Unique Boss-Specific Rewards

Lagon can drop four unique items. Two of them are common, while the others are rarer and scale with Corruption:

Alluvion and Coral Aegis are the two common drops from this encounter. They have a 50% chance each, but are mutually exclusive. You will only get one per kill. Both can drop in Normal or Empowered versions, and their drop rates are not affected by Corruption.

Stormcarved Testament is a rare drop that is more likely to appear at high Corruption levels in Empowered Monoliths. It can drop from Normal, but the chances are really low, so we recommend you farm it on Empowered.

Eye of Storms is a rare weapon exclusive to Empowered timelines. Its drop rate increases with Corruption.
