Final Hype Week Delivers Big for Last Epoch With New Surprises!

The last Hype Week post before the Season 2 launch is finally here, and EHG have again revealed a lot of amazing surprises for Last Epoch! From Quality of Life changes, to dungeon adjustments, here is everything you need to know about the upcoming patch!

Mastery Respecialization

This was kept secret up until the Announcement Trailer, but from Season 2 onwards we will have the possibility to respect our Mastery.

Until now, picking your Mastery was a definitive choice, there was no going back. If you ended up not liking it, you had to create another character and start from scratch. However, now you can respecialize your Class Mastery at any time, for a price.

All you have to do is head back to Chronomancer Lerinne at the End of Time and ask her to respecialize your Class Mastery. Lerinne will ask for a small Gold fee and if you pay it, you can pick a new Mastery. This will of course reset all your Passive Points.

Eternity Cache Changes

Yesterday we saw all the new ways you can now craft in The Last Epoch. However, EHG also updated the Eternity Cache crafting system. From now on, from tier 2 and above in the Temporal Sanctum, you will be able to pick 1 affix which will be guaranteed on your crafted Unique. The rest of the Exalted affixes will be decided by the Unique Legendary Potential and Fate. You are not forced to pick any affix if you want to leave it fully randomized. But for those who look for a very specific affix, this is now possible.

Additionally, you now also have a chance for a Critical Success at the Eternity Cache. This adds the potential to seal affixes past the Legendary Potential level of the Unique. For example, an item with 1 Legendary Potential that has a Critical Success will get two affixes instead of one.

Dungeon Adjustments

Crafting and Masteries are no the only things which received amazing changes! Dungeons also come with new features and adjustments for Season 2!

Dungeon Key Inventory

Your Dungeon Keys will finally free up your inventory space! They will now be stored inside a specific dungeon key inventory!

This new stash tab will also allow you to manage your keys better, and see exactly which ones you have and what they are used for!

Dungeon Key Charms and Vendor

On top of the Key Stash Tab, we also get a new system: Dungeon Key Charms. Those come in two different forms:

  • Portal Charms: Allows you to travel directly to the Dungeon Boss with a random set of floor modifiers based on the tier of the Dungeon selected. The modifiers apply as if you had fought through each of those floors, but instead of actually doing it, you can jump straight to the Boss, defeat him, and get the rewards.
  • Scale Charms: Increases the amount of loot lizards that spawn during a Dungeon Run.

Dungeon Key Charms will store in the same Key inventory, and you use them at the entrance of the Dungeon. You can also exchange Dungeon keys against Portal Charms at the Black Market Key Trader in Maj’Elka’s Upper District. Scale Charms however only drop from mobs.

Of course, you do not have to use Charms if you don’t want to. You can fight your way through the Dungeon the old-fashioned way. Various improvements have been made to Dungeon zones as well:

  • Dungeons are now smaller
  • Fewer Blocks and a lower chance for dead ends

Dungeon Respawn

When you die, if you have spare keys left of the dungeon, you can now choose to use another one to respawn directly, instead of getting kicked out of the Dungeon.

If you die during a Boss fight, this will make you respawn right outside the Boss Area. This system makes it more worth to farm Dungeons, as you have less risk of wasting time, as long as you have spare keys in your bag.

Be aware that this mechanic does not count for Hardcore Players. As EHG said: You die, you die.

Dungeon Campaign Skip

Up until now, if you used Dungeons to skip parts of the Campaign, this would make you miss out on valuable Passive Points and Idol Slots.

With Season 2, new short quests have been added that will reward 2 Passive Points and unlock 1 Idol Slot for defeating each Dungeon’s Boss. These quests will also direct you to the Alternate Dungeon Exits, bypassing parts of the Campaign.

Quality of Life Additions and Adjustments

Various Quality of Life features have been added, changed, or updated. Here is a short list of what you can expect for Season Two:

  • Controller Targeting: A new targeting paradigm system has been implemented that lets you customize your controller behaviours for each skill. This means that things like “cast on enemy in forward facing cone”, which is the default behaviour, can now be changed to things such as “Cast On Self”, “Cast Max Range Forward”, or “Cast on Closest Enemy in Range.
  • Auto-Storing: Shards, Runes, Glyphs, Keys, Woven Echoes… Everything will now Auto-Sort itself. This means when you pick them up, they go into their own inventory. You can even pick whether you want items to go into your inventory or directly to the forge, for example.
  • Inventory Redesign: On top of the new Key inventory, we also get specific tabs for Woven Echoes, and the Gifting Tab will be easier to access. The goal is to have less wasted space in your inventory.
  • Death Vacuum: Simply put, if you die, you vacuum all your loot with you. For example, if you die in the Monolith of Fate, you get teleported back to the Monolith Hub along with all the loot that was surrounding you when you died.
  • Comparing Off-hand Feature: You can now press CTRL to compare rings or weapons in your main hand, or CTRL and ALT to compare an item to the ring or weapon in the off-hand slot. On controller, this would be with L3 and R3.
  • Faction Waypoints: Once you joined a faction with a first character, any Alt character can also join the same faction directly through the Keeper’s Camp. The only requirement is to share the same stash between the two characters. Once you joined a faction, this also unlocks the Waypoints for the Observatory and Bazaar.
  • Shared Monolith Timeline Unlocks: New Alt characters will have directly access to all Normal Monoliths that have been unlocked by another character who share the same Stash.
  • Automatic Potion Drinking Option: You can toggle on or off the “Automatically drink health potions when belt is full”.

With all those new additions and adjustments, this concludes the Pre-Patch Hype Week! You can take a look at the official blog post if you want more details!

As a reminder, Patch Notes will be published tomorrow with even more details about Season 2, so stay tuned! Tombs of the Erased officially launches on the 17th of April, 2025!
