Last Epoch Hype Week 3 – Endgame, Balance, and Itemization!

Jaym0's Avatar by Jaym0

The third pre-patch blog post for the Last Epoch hype Week was released earlier today! This time, EHG shared new information about the upcoming changes to Endgame, Balance, and Itemization. Here is a small breakdown of everything that was talked about in the original post.

New Features

For season two, a lot of new Endgame Crafting mechanics have been added! With a total of 6 new ways to craft, you will have many new possibilities to create your items during the upcoming season two!

Set Shattering

Once you find your way through the Great Bridge, you get access to the Forge of Shattering. This new forge allows you to shatter your set items for set shards. Those shards can then be used to craft Reforged Set items.

Each Set item will create a specific Set affix based on the Set item shattered. For example, shattering Vilatria’s Storm Downfall staff would provide 1-4 Vilatria’s Storm Downfall Reforged shards that can then be crafted onto a staff to turn it into Vilatria’s Storm Downfall Reforged.

As with normal affixes, Set affixes can be crafted up to Tier 5. If you decide to use the new Rune of Havoc, which shuffles all tiers of non-sealed affixes, you have the potential of reaching a T6 or T7 set affix instead.

Idol Enchanting

The new endgame content, which was mentioned for Hype Week Day 1, Tombs and Cemeteries, gives you access to the Woven Enchanter. This allows you to enchant class-specific Idols: Adorned, Grand, Huge, Large, or Ornate. Enchanting an Idol will add new enchanted affixes and some Weaver’s Touch. You can also use the Woven Enchanter to reroll the existing enchanted affixes and Weaver’s Touch against Memory Amber.

Weaver’s Touch is consumed the same way as Weaver’s Will on your items: equip it and slay enemies. Each upgrade will either level the existing Enchanted Affixes, or add a new Enchanted Affix if there is space.

Enchanted Affixes will also come from a new pool of affixes that can not be found on any other idol.

Attribute Swapping

At Oerden’s Watch, after defeating both armies, you take control of the Relic of the Observer, a powerful artifact that allows you to alter the attributes of your items.

The Relic of The Observer can be used to replace a non-sealed attribute affix – Intelligence, Strength, Dexterity, and Attunement – with a different attribute of your choosing. The tier and roll range will stay the same.

Experimental Crafting

Inside the Rune Prison Complex, defeat the Rune Wardens and unlock the Thaumaturgy Device. This allows you to create Experimental items. You can replace prefixes with an Experimental Affix on Belts, Boots, and Gloves.

Rerolling Uniques

Find a Gauntlet of Strife Woven Echo, and prove your worth by defeating a series of Bosses and their Champions in order to get access to the Sacrificial Altar.

On this Altar, you are allowed to sacrifice one copy of any Unique, Legendary, Weaver’s Will, or Set item to reroll all the Implicits and Affixes on a matching item.

For example, to reroll a Unique with 2 Legendary potential, the item you sacrifice also needs to have at least 2 Legendary Potential, or if it is a normal Legendary, it needs to have 2 different Legendary Affixes.

Legendary Crafting Potential

If you manage to find the Turtle of Enormous Girth, you will get a chance to craft a legendary item!

Once you place Unique items with at least 1 Legendary Potential into the Transmuting Gem, you can take your chances at re-rolling the amount of Legendary Potential each item has.

New Crafting Materials

The following new crafting items will be added for Season Two:

  • Rune of Weaving: Transforms a random amount of the remaining Weaver’s Will or Weaver’s Touch on an item into additional affixes or affix tiers, as if you had slain many enemies with that item equipped.
  • Rune of Havoc: Shuffles the tiers of non-sealed affixes on an exalted item with 4 non-sealed affixes.
  • Rune of Redemption: Randomly changes the exalted affixes on an item into different affixes. Does not change the tiers of the affixes or the rolls within the tiers.

Balance Changes

Season Two will also launch with various balance adjustments:

  • Boss Ward: The initial decay rate of Boss Ward will be doubled, and it will be seen in far fewer enemies than before. It will only be found on Bosses that feel like they should have it:
    • Aberroth
    • Harbingers
    • Shades of Orobyss
    • Timeline Bosses
    • Lesser enemies, such as Exiled Mages, Nemeses, or mini-bosses, will no longer have it. Those bosses have instead be given increased health.
  • Player Balance Changes: Changes to tighten the gap between Ward and Health:
    • Ward Retention offered by the Intelligence Attribute has been reduced to 2% per point. You will be able to gain more through new affixes from the Weaver Idols.
    • Ward Decay Threshold: The amount of other lesser scaling stats that help you increase your Ward pool through gear has been increased. These stats are Ward Per Second and Ward Decay Threshold. You will have the possible to craft a hybrid affix on Rings and Amulets that will help you increase those.
    • Ward Per Second: The Ward per Second affix found on Off-Hand Catalysts and the Helmets and Body Armor for Mages and Acolytes has been increased, making it 40% stronger across all tiers.
  • Health and Endurance: Massive buff to Health Regeneration by making Added Health Regeneration less scarce and buffing the values of Increased Health Regeneration affix (15% across all tiers).
    • Added Health: has been increased for Tier 4 to 7.
    • Added Health and Added Health Regeneration: Rings and Relics can now spawn with a new hybrid health affix – Added Health and Added Health Regeneration. This hybrid affix provides less Added Health than the standard Added Health affix. Instead, it balances this by also providing Added Health Regen.
    • Increased health Regeneration: This suffix will spawn now on Helmets, Body Armor, Belts, Rings and Relics, but no longer on Gloves.
    • Extra Potion Slot and Potion health
    • Endurance Threshold: This suffix will now only roll on Belts.
  • Global Damage over Time: The damage over time that players take has been reduced by 15%.
  • Skill changes: Various skills have been updated, modified, and balanced out!
  • Uniques Balancing: As they go hand in hand with skills, some uniques also have received adjustments.
  • New uniques also have been added to the game!

Keep in mind that this is just a small recap of everything that was announced today. If you wish to know more in-depth details, you can head to the official Last Epoch Hype Week blog post!
