Spirits of Fire - Volcanic Shaman Boss Guide
The Volcanic Shaman is the final boss of the Spirits of Fire Monolith Timeline in Last Epoch. The fight takes place in the Shattered Fire Realm and features a one-phase encounter against three bosses at the same time: Bhuldar, Herkir, and Logi. This is a very chaotic fight as you have to keep track of all three and what they do. Each will use the same attack repeatedly; the difficulty comes from the overlap between their attacks.
Boss Mechanics
Here is a breakdown of the Volcanic Shaman's main mechanics and abilities.
Lava Burst
One of the Bosses will stand still suddenly, and spawn ground fire-AoEs. He will spawn them starting closing to him and then move outwards. The explosions deals heavy fire damage. You have a split second before the circles detonate to move out.
Lava Beam
One of the Bosses will stand still and channel a powerful Lave beam right in front of him, dealing massive fire damage. When one of them lifts his arm ready to fire, make sure to not stay in front. The beam doesn’t cover too much ground, so it's not too hard to evade.
Lava X
One of the Bosses will stand still and burn the ground under his feet in an X shape. The X will detonate and erupt into lava after a few seconds. You will notice the ground burning before it detonates, giving you time to move away.
Lava Boulders
The Bosses will launch out multiple huge balls of lava. They are rather visible, and do not take the entire map, so you should manage to evade them. They only explode if you touch them.
Lava Dragon Stab
One of the Bosses will stab in front of him with an attack shaped as a dragon head. This deals both fire and physical damage, but it is very low damage, and most builds should be able to tank it.
Shaman Spirit
When you kill one of the Shamans, they become Necrotic Spirits. These are now permanent until all three Shamans have been killed, and will periodically detonate and deal necrotic damage if you stand in them. They will also fire necrotic shards at you during this period.
Encounter Walkthrough & Strategy
This is a one-phase fight, but it can feel overwhelming due to fast attack tempo and the presence of multiple bosses at once.
- Stay mobile at all times — The lava attacks punish stationary players.
- Try to kill them around at the same time — The spirits are much more annoying than the actual fire bosses, so try to lower their health to around the same amount, before killing them one after the other, so you don’t have to deal with the necrotic phase too long.
Recommended Defensive Stats
- 75% Fire Resistance
- 75% Necrotic Resistance
- High movement speed and a reliable dash skill. Builds with heavy AoE attacks work extremely well as you can hit them all three at once.
Unique Boss-Specific Rewards
The Volcanic Shaman has four unique drops:
Bhuldar's Wrath and Herkir's Vessel are both common drops with a 50% chance each. They are mutually exclusive — only one will drop per kill. These items are available in both Normal and Empowered timelines, and their drop rates are not affected by Corruption.
Logi's Hunger is a rare drop that becomes more common at higher corruption levels in Empowered Monoliths. It can still technically drop in Normal timelines, but the odds are very low.
Trinity of Flames is exclusive to Empowered Monoliths. This rare item has a higher chance to drop at elevated Corruption tiers.

Harbinger of Ash
The Harbinger for this Timeline if the Harbinger of Ash. He will keep some skills from The Shamans:
- He will use the Necrotic Spirit Beam on the ground. This deals massive damage if you get hit, but you see the circle on the ground before it detonates, so you can move out on time.
- Right after the Necrotic circles, the lava balls will move outwards from the Necrotic circle.
Harbinger Unique Drops
- Flames of Midnight
- Harbinger's Needle
Additionally, Harbingers drop the Harbinger Eye which is needed if you want to summon Aberroth.
