Bow HR 1-7 Weapon Crafts
Every hunter knows that keeping your weapon updated is the key to success! You do not want to head into a dangerous hunt with outdated gear. In this guide, we will show you a build path that gets you through Low Rank with ease, without having to farm everything that shows up.
Low Rank Bow Weapon Build Path
Quematrice Arco I ➜ Hope Bow III ➜ Wild Power Bow II ➜ Windbrace Bow I ➜ Albirath Bow I
Follow these 5 upgrade steps and you will have no problems keeping up with every
monster that crosses your path during the main story; especially since you will
always have strong coatings (e.g. Power Coating) on your arrows to further boost
your damage.
- Quematrice Scale x3
- Quematrice Igniter x2
- Quematrice Crest x1
- The Quematrice Arco I offers good raw damage with Fire element and access to the Close-Range Coating, ideal for aggressive early hunts.
- Dragonite Ore x 3
- Machalite Ore x 2
- The Smithy should give you materials to upgrade this a couple of times. The Hope Bow has Power Coating, making it a very good base Weapon. At Rank II it gains Ballistics, extending the range at which you have maximum power. Rank III will also grant you Critical Eye, which increases your affinity.
- Congalala Certificate S x 1
- Congalala Claw x 5
- Congalala Fang x 4
- Congalala Pelt x 2
- You may have to farm this one a couple of times to upgrade it to Rank II, but the Congalala Bow gives you access to a more variate range of coatings, while also keeping Power Coating. Poison, Paralysis and Blast will get you through the upcoming Monsters.
- Hirabami Scale x3
- Hirabami Tail Claw x2
- Frost Sac x1
- Windbrace Bow I adds an Ice element and built-in Focus for faster charge times, which is great for mid Low Rank.
- Guardian Rathalos Scale x3
- Guardian Rathalos Webbing x2
- Flame Sac x1
- Albirath Bow I is the top-tier Low Rank Bow with high raw damage, Fire element, and Blast Coating, which will help to easily transition into High Rank.

Keep in mind: If you are having a hard time with monsters and have extra parts for a better weapon, do not hesitate to craft it, as you can always farm more parts later. And if you run into a monster that is weak to a specific element, swapping to a Bow with that element can help as well.
Key Skills for Bow
The Bow in Monster Hunter Wilds demands smart stamina management since every shot and dodge eats into your energy. That is why building a set with skills like Marathon Runner, Constitution, Stamina Surge, and Focus is absolutely great early on. These skills slow down stamina drain and boost your charge speed, letting you maintain various combos and consistent damage while still having enough energy to evade when it counts. On top of that, adding Weakness Exploit as you reach higher HR means your hits will be even more effective on monster weak points.
Bow HR 1-5 Armor Set
Below, we list an early set that really helps with stamina management. With a few upgrades along the way, this setup should have you covered throughout Low Rank.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Head | Bone Helm | N/A |
Chest | Bone Mail | N/A |
Gloves | Balahara Vambraces | N/A |
Waist | Balahara Coil | N/A |
Legs | Bone Greaves | N/A |
Talisman | Blessing Charm I | N/A |
Your Head, Chest, and Leg pieces unlock Marathon Runner, which is really great because it slows down stamina drain and even gives you some Stun Resistance. The Gloves and Waist improve your mobility with Evade Extender.
Once you unlock Fitness Charm I, swap to it for even better stamina management through Constitution, or choose a Resistance Charm if you need extra protection of a specific element.
And if you get a chance, grab decorations like Critical, Focus, or Bandolier to further increase your damage.
HR 1-5 Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Marathon Runner - Level 2
- Stun Resistance - Level 1
- Evade Extender - Level 2
- Divine Blessing - Level 1 (from Talisman)
- Focus - Bonus from weapon (Quematrice, Windbrace)
Bow HR 5-7+ Armor Set
Once you progress deeper into the story and unlock more parts, you can swap out some of those early comfort pieces for more offensive skills. Keep a bit of your stamina management, but start improving your damage too.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Head | G Rathalos Helm | N/A |
Chest | Xu Wu Mail | N/A |
Gloves | G Rathalos Vambraces | N/A |
Waist | Xu Wu Coil | N/A |
Legs | Xu Wu Greaves | N/A |
Talisman | Fitness Charm I | N/A |
This late set provides Stamina Surge from using the Xu Wu set, and Weakness Exploit granted to us by the 2 pieces of Guardian Rathalos for high damage output, perfect for transitioning into High Rank.
If you want to, you can also swap out Guardian Rathalos for Guardian Ebony gear pieces, to pick up two Burst points from the set bonus. This will help you further improve your damage, since you continuously attack with the Bow.
Early on, you will not have many decoration options. However, if you get the chance, use any that help make combat more comfortable, such as Gobbler or Brace (if you are lucky enough to get these).
HR 5-7+ Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Stamina Surge - Level 3
- Maximum Might - Level 3
- Intimidator - Level 2
- Weakness Exploit - Level 2
- 2-Set Bonus: Rathalos's Flare (Chance for additional fire damage)
Or, if you choose to pick Guardian Ebony pieces instead:
- Burst - Level 2
- Bleeding Resistance - Level 2
- 2-Set Bonus: Ebony Odogaron's Power (Extended Burst skill duration and +3 attack while Burst is active)
And that's it for Low Rank!
Happy hunting! May your arrows always find their mark.
