Ultimate Guide to Pop-Up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, exploration, and preparation are key to guarantee your success in hunting dangerous monsters. One of the most valuable tools available to hunters is the pop-up camp. These temporary bases allow you to quickly restock, heal, and strategize without needing to return to the main camp. Understanding how to set up and use these camps effectively can significantly enhance your mobility, save time, and provide crucial advantages in the heat of battle. In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know about pop-up camps!
What are Pop-Up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Pop-up camps are temporary bases that you can establish in the field to serve as a mobile rest stop. Unlike traditional camps, they can be placed in various locations during a hunt, providing greater flexibility, allowing you to use the normal camp features without having to head back to your base camp.
These small camps allow you to restock items, swap gear, and even recover health, all without having to retreat to the main base. They are designed for adaptability, making sure you can maintain pressure on monsters without wasting time travelling across the map because you need to go back to the base camp. However, they are not permanent and require specific conditions to be set up effectively.
How to Use Pop-Up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Setting up and using pop-up camps is a straightforward action, but it has to be done under certain conditions. The feature unlocks after you reach a certain point in the story, right after you beat your first Doshaguma Hunt. After that, all you have to do is find a location and use a Camping Kit.
Once you have the possibility to set up your first pop-up camp, you will need to find a proper available spot for it. It is not possible to set it up anywhere on the map. When you near one, you will see on your mini-map something called a Camp Site.

There are multiple camp sites across all the zones. They can also be identified through the butterflies that can be located near them and will lead you to the camp site if you follow them.
Once you have your Camp Site, open your item bar and locate the Camping Kits. You will them be able to use one to build your camp (, , ). Camping Kits are fixed items from your item bar.
Upon the use of a kit, a window will pop up, indicating you the safety level of the zone, and asking you to pay 200 Guild points. You do not have to worry about Guild Points, as they are easy to obtain.

You will not be able to set up a camp if any of the following situations are true:
- You already had a pop-up camp in this location, but it was destroyed and is still under repair
- You already set up the maximum number of Pop-up camps. In this case, you can go destroy old ones
- You are engaged with a large monster
How to Destroy or Repair your Pop-Up Camp in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Since Pop-up camps are set up in the wilds, they can be destroyed by nearby monsters that suddenly decide to rampage over your stuff.
When your Camp is destroyed, a notification pops up on your screen letting you know your camp is no more. This means that you will not have access to its functionalities any more until it is repaired.
After a certain amount of time, the repairs will automatically begin: the Pop-up Camp Purrofessional will take care of it on its own. You can speed up the process by talking directly to him and shorten the repair time, but this costs Guild Points.

You can also ask the Pop-up Camp Purrofessional to remove your camp. Be careful if you remove a destroyed camp, as this will lock the location for a certain amount of time for you.

What are the Best Locations for Pop-Up Camps in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Choosing the right location for a pop-up camp can make a huge difference in your hunting journey. Here are some general tips and best placements you should look out for:
- Safe Zones: When you are about to set up the camping kit, it will tell you if the location if safe or not. It is always better to set the camp up when it is safe. Otherwise, you have more risk of having it destroyed by monsters.
- In the Windward Plains, go for Area 4: Mineral Cave, and Area 14: Underground Water Vein. Both of those are safe locations.
- Fast Travel spots: put your camps down when you are far away from base camp, allowing you to have fast travels in secluded areas.
Finally, here are some additional tips for your pop-up camp:
- Wait for the automatic repair. It does not take that long, as saves you some points.
- Remove the camps you do not need any more. There is only so many you can put in the same zone, so if you are sure you will not necessarily go back to a certain area, remove the camp so you can build it somewhere else.
- Set the camp as a waypoint: this allows you to travel back to it with the Seikret's auto-travel.
