Charge Blade HR 1-7 Weapon Crafts

The first thing every hunter knows is keeping their weapon up to date for each hunt is the best path to success. You don't want to get caught in a dangerous hunt with an old one, so here we will cover a comfortable build path that will get you through low rank without needing to farm everything that shows up.

1.1.

Low Rank Charge Blade Weapon Build Path

Hyperguard I ➜ Rey Astrapi I ➜ Cthonian Flame I
Early on the Charge Blade doesn't have a lot of excellent options, so focusing on universal weapons that can cover most monsters without worrying too much about specialized skills or elements serves the best. This should get you through Low Rank comfortably, set up with a solid weapon to begin High Rank.

  1. Hyperguard I - Click for Materials
    • Machalite Ore x 1
    • Earth Crystal x 2
The Smithy should give you materials to build toward this, and with some mining it should be quick to acquire. This comes with solid green sharpness, a decent amount of raw damage and Rapid Morph for some early game comfort, and should cover the majority of early game hunts.
  2. Rey Astrapi I - Click for Materials
    • Rey Dau Scale x 3
    • Rey Dau Wingtalon x 2
    • Rey Dau Thunderhorn x 1
The best option as you start to transition to more difficult monsters, coming with excellent green sharpness and Thunder element too. Focus helps to charge Phials faster as well, while Load Shells has a small impact on the fill rate when you bank your Phials. This covers you until deep into Low Rank with ease.
  3. Cthonian Flame I - Click for Materials
    • Guardian Ebony Scale x 3
    • Guardian Ebony Claw x 2
    • Guardian Ebony Fang x 1
This sets you up very well for High Rank, with good stats all around including Dragon element, a universally solid counter to most monsters. It also comes with Offensive Guard II, giving even more payoff to your Perfect Guards.

Remember though, if you are struggling to deal with monsters and you have parts lying around for a weapon that looks better, don't hesitate to craft it. You can always go back and farm those parts again later if you need them for something else!

Key Skills for Charge Blade

The Charge Blade in Monster Hunter Wilds is a weapon type that does have some unique skills, though they are mostly found through weapons and decorations in the late game. Options such as Offensive Guard which rewards Perfect Guarding and Artillery which enhances your Phial damage with Element Discharge are mechanically potent, but are quite difficult to obtain early on in Low Rank.

That means your builds are much more open to comfort skills while progressing through the story. Skills such as Evade Extender and Evade Window can make it much easier to stick to monsters while in Axe Mode, while also giving more room to get used to their attack patterns. As it is quite difficult to get tailored offensive setups early on in Low Rank, many of the recommendations here will instead lean toward these comfort options.

3.

Charge Blade HR 1-6 Armor Set

Below is a solid beginner set that aims to provide additional benefits to your Perfect Guards, and can cover you for the early part of Low Rank before more suitable armor sets can be crafted.

Gear Decorations
Head Doshaguma Helm N/A
Chest Doshaguma Mail N/A
Gloves Doshaguma Braces N/A
Waist Balahara Coil N/A
Legs Doshaguma Greaves N/A
Talisman Leaping Charm I N/A

As the Charge Blade really struggles early on to get offensive or tailored skills from armor, we've instead opted to recommend the Doshaguma set bonus to get an attack bonus payoff from Clashes. Most of the extra comfort skills are nice to have when you don't have spare consumables lying around thanks to Free Meal, but don't expect to be using these long term. To go along with these there are also two points in Evade Extender to give more room on your dodges to stick to monsters and evade their attack patterns.

When it comes to decorations, it is pretty limited how many you have access to early on, so I would recommend putting anything in that sounds like it would make combat more comfortable such as Gobbler or Brace if you are lucky enough to get some.

3.1.

HR 1-6 Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses

  • Free Meal - Level 3
  • Recovery Speed - Level 1
  • Evade Extender - Level 2
  • Doshaguma's Might - 2 and 4-piece
4.

Charge Blade HR 6-7+ Armor Set

As you move toward the end of Low Rank a number of powerful offensive options begin to open up, allowing for the Charge Blade to move over to these to augment its damage potential. These can be crafted in stages as you reach each monster, as both Burst and Flayer provide excellent increases in their own right without needing a complete set.

Gear Decorations
Head G. Arkveld Helm N/A
Chest G. Arkveld Mail N/A
Gloves G. Ebony Braces N/A
Waist G. Ebony Coil N/A
Legs Balahara Greaves N/A
Talisman Leaping Charm I N/A

Once you start to unlock some of the tougher monsters' armor sets, the scope of offensive skills on offer increases a lot. Burst is provided by the Gloves and Waist, providing a solid attack boost while you continuously attack along with having the set bonus to amplify it further. The Head and Chest also provide Flayer, increasing the rate of wound triggers on monsters while also dealing additional damage when you pop them with a Focus Strike. This is especially nice for the Charge Blade, as it makes it easier to maintain Power Axe mode.

It rounds out the build with a couple of points in Evade Extender from the Legs and Talisman to maintain some of the prior feel of early builds. This also assists in sticking to monsters to ramp up the power of Burst as well.

When it comes to decorations, it is pretty limited how many you have access to early on, so I would recommend putting anything in that sounds like it would make combat more comfortable such as Gobbler or Brace if you are lucky enough to get some.

4.1.

HR 6-7+ Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses

  • Burst - Level 2
  • Flayer - Level 2
  • Evade Extender - Level 2
  • Blight Resistance - Level 1
  • Bleeding Resistance - Level 1
  • Ebony Odogaron's Power - 2-piece
  • Guardian Arkveld's Vitality - 2-piece
