Introduction to the Dual Blades
The Dual Blades is a lightning fast melee weapon that uses relentless attacks and high mobility to slice and dice its way through hunts. It is ideal for hunters looking for a weapon that is fast, fluid and responsive that can always jump into the action.
The Dual Blades has a vast combo set that can be chained together, and after powering up can enter Demon Mode to unleash a vicious flurry of attacks at the cost of stamina. It can weave dodges between moves, and keeps full movement while pressing the attack. Additionally, it builds up the Demon Gauge to switch between two states and perform Demon Flurry combos.

Dual Blades Mechanics
Demon Gauge
The Dual Blades work with the Demon Gauge, shown by the two swords UI element below your stamina bar. This has 3 different states it can be in, and will impact your move sets and damage output.
Standard Gauge | In Demon Mode | Archdemon Mode |

The Demon Gauge is charged by using attacks from Demon Mode and, after being filled, will slowly deplete or be consumed by powerful combo moves.
Demon Mode is activated by pressing / / , which changes your move set and increases your damage while active, but constantly drains your stamina. You can also use a directional input when switching to lunge forward as you switch.
When the Demon Gauge fills, you will activate Archdemon Mode, which replaces your standard move set. That means any time you exit Demon Mode, you will instead switch to Archdemon Mode. This retains a lot of the Demon Mode move set - with some additions - but will not drain your stamina.
While in either mode, you can press + / + / + to begin the Blade Dance or Demon Flurry combo strings. These deal a large amount of hits very quickly, but each step of the combo drains your Demon Gauge. You can also switch freely during the combo between the two modes by pressing / / between each step.
Dodging and Perfect Evasion
The Dual Blades are unique in that all of their combo strings allow for you to evade with a small sidestep in between attacks without breaking them. That makes repositioning a breeze, and is a core component of both surviving the more erratic beasts you encounter and staying on the offensive.
Additionally, a lot of your attacks can also be combined with movement inputs to lunge in that direction with the swing, giving you a lot of control over your engagements.
Perfect Evasion
New to Monster Hunter Wilds, while in Demon Mode the Dual Blades have access to a new move - the Demon Dodge. If you perfectly time an evade from a monster during a combo using / / , you will flash blue and gain a buff for 12 seconds. This increases your damage while it's up, and causes any of your dodges during the window to also spin attack while in motion. It is indicated above your health bar with this icon, and a small timer:
Focus Mode
Focus mode is a new feature in Monster Hunter wilds that lets you aim your strikes by holding / / . Your strikes will aim toward your camera while using this, allowing you to target wounds or specific monster areas.
The Dual Blades has a lot of different uses with this, allowing you to position where your swings are aimed even during an animation or combo string. This can even be used to keep the camera centered on your target while hopping to the side while using a directional input slash.
Dual Blades also has a special attack that can be used from focus mode: Turning Tide. If this connects with a wound you will catapult backward, latch onto the monster with your slinger. You will then whirlwind along the entire length of the monster, destroying any wounds it connects with. This deals a lot of damage, restores some stamina and on top of that, looks really cool.
Mounted Attacks
In Monster Hunter Wilds you have access to your very own Seikret mount, and comes with its own attacks both while mounted and when dismounting. You can perform a Standard Attack swinging to the side with using / / .
You also have two different dismounting options when engaging a monster from your Seikret:
- Jumping Slash Dismount: Pressing / / followed by / / .
- Jumping Demon Mode Dismount: Pressing / / followed by / / will dismount into Demon Mode.
Lastly, while mounted on a monster, after a wound is created you can execute a powerful finishing strike by pressing / / . Additionally, while you are mounted on a monster your Demon Gauge will not deplete.
Dual Blades Combos and Skills
The Dual Blades have a remarkably simple core move set, but it makes up for that by allowing you to chain almost every part of it together. There is very little friction between all of your combo strings, and they even link together between both Demon Mode and Archdemon Mode. Knowing potential chains that you can link together will let you get creative in how you take down your prey.
