Dual Blades HR 1-7 Weapon Crafts
The first thing every hunter knows is keeping their weapon up to date for each hunt is the best path to success. You don't want to get caught in a dangerous hunt with an old one, so here we will cover a comfortable build path that will get you through low rank without needing to farm everything that shows up.
Low Rank Dual Blades Weapon Build Path
Hope Daggers III ➜ Quematrice Silexes I/II ➜ Ajara Twin Edges I ➜ Cthonian Kusarigamas I
Dual Blades have a lot of room to use status or elements to exploit monsters, so
if you're struggling with a specific monster it may be worth switching to
counter it. These 4 steps however should give you a smooth path through the
main story.

Key Skills for Dual Blades
The Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Wilds is a weapon type that has a number of skills that have specific synergy with its gameplay style. Due to the continuous stamina drain from Demon Mode, finding a way to combat this and provide more comfort when staying in it for extended periods of time makes them much smoother to play.
The easiest to access is Marathon Runner, which reduces the stamina drain caused by continuous effects (such as running or being in Demon Mode) by up to 50%. This can be accessed very early on, making it a premium skill in early Low Rank. Alternative stamina skills in Stamina Surge and Constitution are options that show up later in more advanced armor sets.
Evade related skills in Monster Hunter Wilds are also extremely valuable due to Demon Dodge, which the Dual Blades uses to stay active. In particular Evade Window makes maintaining your perfect dodge buffs much easier, so is worth looking at once they can be crafted.
Dual Blades HR 1-4 Armor Set
Below is the earliest set that can be put together with a stamina related skill - in this case Marathon Runner. If you actively upgrade it, it should cover all your needs all the way through low rank.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Head | Bone Helm | N/A |
Chest | Bone Mail | N/A |
Gloves | Balahara Vambraces | N/A |
Waist | Bone Coil | N/A |
Legs | Balahara Greaves | N/A |
Talisman | Leaping Charm I | N/A |
The Head, Chest and Waist will give you the three points needed to complete Marathon Runner, which can be done right at the start of the game. The other pieces - Gloves and Legs - are items you can upgrade along your journey more easily, but Evade Extender is very useful as Dual Blades uses dashes in Demon Mode to stick to monsters. While this is more of a comfort skill, especially when getting to grips with Dual Blades and learning how to maximize damage I'd recommend using this.
When you unlock the parts to craft a Leaping Charm 1, you can craft this to max out the Evade Extender skill as well.
When it comes to decorations, it is pretty limited how many you have access to early on, so I would recommend putting anything in that sounds like it would make combat more comfortable such as Gobbler or Brace if you are lucky enough to get some.
HR 1-4 Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Marathon Runner - Level 3
- Evade Extender - Level 2-3
Dual Blades HR 4-7+ Armor Set
As you progress further, there is a potentially powerful set swap available once you have defeated Hirabami. This gives access to Evade Window which makes the more difficult aspects of perfect dodging easier to pull off.
This is more optional if you are finding the extra stamina provided by Marathon Runner more comfortable.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Head | Hirabami Headdress | N/A |
Chest | Hirabami Mail | N/A |
Gloves | Hirabami Vambraces | N/A |
Waist | Hirabami Coil | N/A |
Legs | Hirabami Greaves | N/A |
Talisman | Leaping Charm I | N/A |
Fully completing the Hirabami set will max out Evade Window, making the window for perfect dodge much wider - allowing you to make more use of Demon Dodge. This assumes at this stage you are more comfortable with stamina management for Dual Blades (or have more access to Dash Juice) and can start employing more advanced gameplay aspects.
As you get toward the end of Low Rank, once you have defeated Guardian Ebony Odogaran you also have your first strong option for damage to be mixed into the set as well. Switching out the Head and Gloves will give two points in Burst, an extremely strong offensive skill due to the high attack rate of Dual Blades. If you make this switch, I would also recommend switching to Evasion Charm I to maintain a high rank of Evade Window.
When it comes to decorations, it is pretty limited how many you have access to early on, so I would recommend putting anything in that sounds like it would make combat more comfortable such as Gobbler or Brace if you are lucky enough to get some.
HR 4-7+ Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Evade Window - Level 5
- Ice Resistance - Level 3
- Recovery Speed - Level 2
- Evade Extender - Level 1
- Master Mounter - 3-piece
With optional Guardian Ebony pieces:
- Evade Window - Level 4
