You don't want to get caught in a dangerous hunt with an old one, so here we will cover a comfortable build path that will get you through low rank without needing to farm everything that shows up.

    The Hope Blade is a great starter weapon that doesnt cost any materials only a low amount of zenny in order to obtain.

    The Buster Sword uses the equipment skill Critical Draw which enhances affinity during a draw attack. This makes the Buster Sword a great weapon throughout the start of the story to land critical hits maximising the hunters damage.

    The Quematrice Espada I uses the equipment skill Punishing Draw which during draw attacks will increase the amount of attack strength a little as well as produces a stun effect. This makes the Quematrice Weapon good for downing monsters in order to create further damage through attacks.

The Great Sword in Monster Hunter Wilds is a weapon that deals high amounts of damage from single hits due to its large size. In order to maximise this damage there are some key skills that will enable you to defeat monsters quicker optimising its damage.

One of the key skills the great sword offers is Weakness Exploit which increases the amount of affinity when dealing damage to a monsters weak point producing a critical amount of damage useful in all situations. Another important skill to consider is partbreaker which enables the hunter to easily remove parts of the monster quicker as well as deal more damage when using focus strike.

Once you are deeper into the story and more parts are unlocked, you can move some of these early game comfort options around to pick up some of the desirable offensive skills. This set is great as it contains skills such as Weakness Exploit which increase the amount of critical damage when attacking a monsters weak points and wounds therefore enabling more damage. This pairs well with the Partbreaker skill when using focus strike increases the amount of damage when destroying wounds additionally making it easier to break off parts from larger monsters. The Protective Polish skill allows you to stay in combat longer due to weapon sharpness to not deplete for a period of time after sharpening allowing more damage to be dealt for a longer period of time.
