Hammer HR 9-35 Armor Set
This next set should carry you from the start of High Rank all the way up to around Hunter Rank 35. To craft everything, you will need to farm materials from Guardian Ebony Odogaron and Blangonga a few times.
At this point, decorations are not really worth farming specifically. Just use whatever you already have - no matter if that it boost your current skills, add something extra, or gives you a bit more defense should early High Rank fights feel tough. That said, this part of the game gets easier over time. As you progress, you unlock passive resource farms that make materials/consumables easier to stock up on without much effort.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Weapon | Shell Hammer I | N/A |
Head | G. Ebony Helm β | N/A |
Chest | Blango Mail β | N/A |
Gloves | G. Ebony Braces β | N/A |
Waist | Blango Coil β | N/A |
Legs | G. Ebony Greaves β | N/A |
Talisman | Exploiter Charm I | N/A |
This early High Rank setup uses the Shell Hammer I, which is a great starter weapon with built-in Charge Master Level 3 and good Blast damage.
The build makes it easy to bonk your way through early quests by focusing on raw attack and some reliable crowd control through Blast. The Guardian Ebony pieces provide you with Burst, while the Blango set gives you War Cry, which boosts your own attack, and your allies', when you use the "To Victory" gesture before the fight. Just make sure you have that gesture on quick access. For the charm, you can either go for Weakness Exploit or boost Burst a bit more with a Chain Charm.
HR 9-35 Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Agitator - Level 4
- Burst - Level 3
- Charge Master - Level 3
- Slugger - Level 1
- Divine Blessing - Level 2
- Charge Up - Level 1
- Earplugs - Level 1
- Weakness Exploit - Level 1
- Blangonga's Spirit - Level 2
- Ebony Odogaron's Power - Level 2
- Guardian’s Protection - Level 3
Hammer HR 35-41+ Armor Set
Once you hit Rank 35 and 40, you will unlock hunts for Gore Magala and Arkveld. These two monsters currently offer some of the best gear in the game until future updates drop.
And while this set is still a progression set, it allows you to more than comfortably farm decorations and any materials you may want while you work towards a true endgame set or even just to farm so you can play with builds and options yourself.
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Weapon | Graviton Hammer | Blast Jewel III Focus Jewel II Focus Jewel I |
Head | G. Ebony Helm β | Refresh Jewel II |
Chest | G. Arkveld Mail β | Flayer Jewel III |
Gloves | G. Ebony Braces β | Potential Jewel II Physique Jewel I |
Waist | G. Arkveld Coil β | Destroyer Jewel II Physique Jewel I |
Legs | Dahaad Shardgreaves β | Refresh Jewel II |
Talisman | Chain Charm II | N/A |
By now, you can craft pretty much anything on the weapon tree. As soon as you unlock the Graviton Hammer, swap to it, as it is a direct upgrade. Sure, it has -20% Affinity, but this build leans into raw and Blast damage anyway. The weapon comes with Charge Master Level 3 and 40 Blast power, and if you add a Level 3 Blast decoration, your Blast damage really spikes.
This setup gives you a good balance of offense and flexibility. You keep two Guardian Ebony pieces for Burst and the set bonus that improves it further. Swapping the Blango pieces for Arkveld Mail and Coil gives you access to Flayer, which helps you inflict wounds more easily, boosting your damage even more.
Talisman and Key Decoration Options
You want to go all-in on Blast and Focus for the weapon. Try to get more Flayer from a Level 3 decoration on your chest piece.
You will also need Chain Charm II to reach Burst Level 5.
HR 35-41+ Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Burst - Level 3 (+2 with Charm)
- Flayer - Level 4

Endgame
Here is a quick overview of our current endgame Hammer build, including the best weapons to use and important decorations to get.
Endgame Artian Hammer
The Artian Hammer is currently one of the best options for Hammer in Monster Hunter Wilds. It has high base damage, three Level 3 decoration slots, and supports element infusion. Using three of the same elemental type gives you Element Infusion, which boosts your element stat by +30. Using two of the same type just assigns that element to the weapon without the bonus.
What is the Best Artian Hammer?
Right now, the best Artian Hammer is Moteurvankel. There are a few good variations depending on your Production and Reinforcement Bonuses.
- Production Bonuses set the element and can add extra stats like Affinity or Attack.
- Reinforcement Bonuses are randomized. You can reroll them by quitting to the title screen before saving if you do not like your result.
You can choose any elemental type based on what you need, just make sure to pick three of the same to get Element Infusion.
For Production Bonuses, try to get Affinity first.
For Reinforcement Bonuses, prioritize Attack and Affinity to boost both raw and crit damage. If you get one with extra Sharpness, that is a nice bonus too.
Hammer Engame Armor Sets
Gear | Decorations | |
---|---|---|
Weapon | Moteurvankel | Critical Boost Jewel III Critical Boost Jewel II Charge Up/Expert Jewel III |
Head | Gore Helm β | Challenger Jewel II Adapt Jewel I |
Chest | Gore Mail α | Tenderizer Jewel III |

Waist | Gore Coil β | Chain Jewel III Mighty II |
Legs | Gore Greaves β | Flayer Jewel III Physique I Protection |
Talisman | Exploiter Charm II | N/A |
Moteurvankel is the BiS (best-in-slot) Hammer for this Critical Boost + Weakness Exploit build. The three Level 3 slots make it easy to cap out Critical Boost and improve stun potential with Charge Up. Combined with Weakness Exploit and Gore’s Antivirus set skill, you get a strong offensive setup with great crit consistency.
Try to max out Weakness Exploit with your charm and Antivirus with Sane decorations. On top of that, adding one point each in Agitator, Maximum Might, and Burst through your jewels will push your damage even further.
Endgame Armor Set Skills and Set Bonuses
- Critical Boost - Level 5
- Weakness Exploit - Level 5
- Constitution - Level 5
- Evade Window - Level 3
