How to Get Hunter Symbols in Monster Hunter Wilds

Hunter Symbols are required crafting materials for high-end crafting, needed for a lot of different items at the Blacksmith. They are also needed to craft any of the highest rarity Armor and Weapons. Depending on your journey through High Rank, you might run into these items without having any at all, so knowing where to get them is important!

Hunters Symbols are rewards from hunting Tempered Monsters, and you will be rewarded with these when completing a hunt. You can check if a quest rewards these by looking at the Quest Info Rewards tab from the world map after selecting an active monster:

Hunter Symbols come in three different types: I, II and III. If you are looking to farm a specific one for your weapon, you will need to look at the difficulty of the Tempered Monster on the area map to work out what the reward will be, but you can always check the Quest Info to be sure. The star ranking difficulty dictates which will drop:

The most valuable of these used to craft endgame weapons is Hunter Symbol III, only found in the most dangerous hunts. 7 & 8 Star Tempered monsters include all of the Apex Predators, Gore Magala and Arkveld, and you can check these under the quest info too:

As these are very valuable and need to be farmed, remember you can always use the save as investigation function for open world monsters to be able to save it for later if you are busy, or be able to repeat the hunt!
