Lala Barina Combat Guide
Let’s go over Lala Barina’s strengths, weaknesses, and how to handle her move set effectively. For the most efficient kill time and optimal damage, bring a fire-elemental weapon to the fight. She is particularly weak to stun, but poison, sleep, and blast also perform well. However, avoid using paralysis-based weapons as they are ineffective against her. As for utility items, flash pods, shock traps, and pitfall traps all work fine, but sonic bombs won’t have any effect.
Truthfully, Lala Barina is a pretty simple monster to deal with. The most confusing thing about her will likely be her erratic animations and movement patterns, not the attacks themselves. Her offensive capabilities barely pose any threat especially if you make it a habit to stay behind her. Her kit isn’t complex at all.
When you’re positioned in front of her, she’ll frequently attempt a pair of swipes with her front arms. Every now and then, she’ll also back her body up, lift herself up, and lunge at you after a brief delay. This attack is heavily telegraphed and deals decent damage if you aren’t prepared for it, so it’s a perfect opportunity to counter, offset, guard, or simply dodge it.
Occasionally, Lala Barina will attempt to sting you. This is the one move that can catch you off guard, as it happens quite quickly. Getting stung multiple times in a short window will result in paralysis—keep in mind, paralysis is the key element of this monster.
She can also perform a long-distance leap to try and land directly on you. Unlike her telegraphed lunge attack, this one lacks a clear wind-up, so you’ll want to stay sharp and react quickly.
Enraged State
When Lala Barina enters her enraged state, she will curl into a rose-like shape and begin to dance. As she performs this dance, she releases floating red florets into the surrounding area. Be careful not to touch them, as getting hit by too many in quick succession will also paralyze you.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Lala Barina is a pushover of a fight. She has a creative design, sure, but her actual difficulty level is very low. Just stay underneath and behind her and you’ll avoid most of her attacks with ease. Both her high-rank and low-rank versions are straightforward, and even the tempered version is barely more threatening outside of the increased health pool. If you bring a fast-hitting fire-elemental weapon, you’ll make quick work of her as she goes up in flames.
