The official Japanese MH_Wilds X/Twitter account recently shared a handy summary of all things multiplayer. And even though the guide itself is in Japanese, we have translated all the important parts for you — original images included. It is a great refresher for anyone who has not tried multiplayer in Monster Hunter Wilds yet, or for returning hunters who just want a quick overview of how it all works.
So, let’s get started and break it down.
Step 1 – Add Friends as “Hunter Friends”
If you want to play regularly with friends, it helps to add each other as Hunter Friends, because it makes it easier to find them in lobbies or invite them into your party.
Here is how it works:
- Select a friend from the list (you can also search by Hunter ID) and send a Hunter Friend invite
- Your friend will then need to go to Start Menu > Communication > Invite Notifications to accept
You can find your own Hunter ID on the save data selection screen or in your profile. Just share it with your friends so they can add you too.

Step 2 – Join a Friend’s Lobby
Once you are Hunter Friends, joining each other’s lobby is easy:
- On the save data screen, select Lobby Search > Hunter Friend Search
- Pick your friend from the list and join their lobby directly
You can also join quests via the Quest Counter, or if you want a smaller, private session, you can use Private Lobbies or Squad Lobbies (more on those below).

Step 3 – Use the Link Party System
The Link Party system makes co-op smoother by letting you auto-join each other’s quests.
Here is how to set it up:
- Go to Start Menu > Communication > Link Party > Invite to Link Party
- Pick your friend from the Member List or Hunter Friends list and send the invite
- Your friend then accepts the invite from Communication > Invite Notifications
You can also invite platform friends directly using Start Menu > Communication > Invite Friends.

Want a Private Group? Use a Private or Squad Lobby
If you want to keep things small and play only with specific people, there are two great options:
Private Lobby
- Only people with the Lobby ID can join
- Create or search a Private Lobby from Save Data Selection > Private Lobby
- Share the Lobby ID with your friends (you can find it in Start Menu > Communication > Member List)
- Your friends can search and join using Lobby Search > Input Lobby ID
Squad Lobby
You can also create or join a Squad, which works like a mini guild. It gives you access to exclusive lobbies and chat features.
- Create a Squad via Start Menu > Info > Squad Management or the Squad Info Desk
- Invite friends through Squad Menu > Invite to Squad
- Friends accept the invite from Communication > Invite Notifications

You can also join existing Squads by searching with conditions or ID.
Once in a Squad, you can search and join Squad Lobbies directly from the save screen via Lobby Search > Squad Lobby Search.

How to Enable Crossplay
Monster Hunter Wilds supports full crossplay, but you can choose to turn it on or off.
- On the Title Screen, go to Options > Game Settings
- From there, you can toggle Crossplay Settings on or off depending on your preference
This allows or restricts online play across platforms.
No matter if you are teaming up with friends or hopping into a quest with others, thanks to these systems of MH Wilds, it makes it super easy to play together, and now you have all the details in one place.
