Key Things Players Often Forget That Can Boost Your Hunts!

In the vast world of Monster Hunter Wilds, it is easy to get caught up in the fun of the hunt, but there are a few key elements that players often overlook. Even if you are a veteran hunter, these little tips can make a big difference in your success. Here are a few things you definitely should not forget!

Armor Charm and Power Charm

As simple as it sounds, many hunters forget to equip these charms that provide powerful buffs:

  • Armor Charm: Boosts your defense, helping you endure tougher battles.
  • Power Charm: Increases your attack power, letting you deal more damage to monsters.

You can obtain those charms from completing two side quests you can take in Suja from Cobb and Rex. Those unlock once you can access the Wounded Hollows in High Rank. They will ask you to fight the double Hirabami and Double Ajarakan in the arena. After the quests are completed, you should have both charms in your inventory. These charms are easy to forget since they are in your normal inventory and require to be put in your item pouch to be active.

Shoutout to the following Reddit post for reminding us about it!

SOS Flares for Support NPCs/Players

SOS Flares are often overlooked but can be a lifesaver! They are a great way to call for help during tough hunts, especially if you are playing solo. By using a flare, you signal other players or NPCs that you need assistance. They will simply be providing backup in a tough battle. In the settings at your Handler, you can choose if you want only support NPC, only players, or both. If you select both, support NPC’s will automatically fill your party and be replaced by players if some decide to join.

This is a feature that is often forgotten, especially by new players, so it is a good moment to remind you that the option exists. You can also use it during the story if the fights seem too hard for you.

Your Hunter’s Notes

Many hunters forget to check their Hunter’s Notes, which provide detailed information about the monsters they are hunting. Not only do they give you info on weaknesses, but the notes also highlight a monster’s attack patterns, drops, and what parts you can break. Reading these notes before a hunt can give you an extra advantage by letting you exploit the monster’s weaknesses more effectively.

Your Item Box: Do Not Forget to Refill

A lot of Hunters forget to drop by their tent before a new hunt to refill their item pouch. This can lead to no ammo or no proper consumables. You can also check your item pouch on the Seikret during hunts, as Alma often puts a few items in there that should help you for the monster you are fighting.

Make Sure to Eat Before a Hunt

This one might seem obvious, but it is easy to forget. Always eat at the tent, BBQ grill, or Pop-up camp before setting off on a hunt. Eating provides stat boosts that can make a huge difference. You can choose from different meals that improve your stamina, health, attack, and defense. Remember, a well-fed hunter is a prepared hunter!

Your Palico‘s Gear

Do not forget to equip and upgrade your Palico’s gear. Your Palico is a main ally in the fight, and making sure they have the right gear, weapons, and armor can help them perform better in combat. They can heal you, distract enemies, and deal decent damage, so make sure they are well-equipped for the job.

The Use of Traps and Bombs

Traps and bombs can be game-changers, yet some hunters overlook them. These tools can immobilize monsters or deal massive damage. Pitfall traps and shock traps can be used to restrain monsters, allowing you to attack more freely or capture them. Bombs, on the other hand, can be timed for devastating damage. Carrying a few in your item box can save you during the most intense hunts.

On the same note, do not forget you can capture Monsters instead of killing them! It can grant you more rewards. For that, you need Pitfall or Shock traps and Tranq bombs or Tranq ammo.

Do Not Forget to Check Your Map

Always check your map before a hunt. It shows key locations, monster tracks, and even hidden resources. Knowing the terrain and having a plan to collect valuable resources along the way can make your hunts more efficient.
