It seems that quite a few Monster Hunter Wilds players have completely missed picking up their Powercharm and Armorcharm, two classic items that provide permanent buffs. Unlike previous games, where these were bought from vendors, you get them from side quests in Chapter 4, but they will not work unless you manually equip them in your item pouch!
Where to Find the Powercharm & Armorcharm
Both items come from side quests in Wounded Hollow, given by Guild Members:
- Powercharm – Reward for completing the “As Gatekeeper” quest from NPC Rex (hunt two Ajarakan). Requires HR 21+.
- Armorcharm – Reward for completing the “Secure Wounded Hollow” quest from NPC Cobb (hunt two Hirabami). Requires HR 16+.
If you have already done these quests but never noticed the items, check your Item Box; they might have been sitting there for ranks without you realizing it.
How Much Do These Charms Boost Your Stats?
- Armorcharm: +12 Defense
- Powercharm: +6 Raw Attack
To get these bonuses, you must equip them in your item pouch; if they are in your item box, they will not do anything.
No Upgrades… Yet
So far, there is currently no Power or Armor Talon upgrade, which would normally provide even greater buffs and is usually how these items get even stronger in Monster Hunter games. However, since Wilds keeps unlocking more content, it is entirely possible that upgrades will be introduced later. But for now, you can only use the base versions.
Make Sure to Equip Them!
Apparently, a lot of players have unknowingly carried these items for dozens of HR levels without equipping them. As mentioned earlier, and just like in past games, you must add them to your item pouch for the buffs to take effect. If they are in your Item Box, they will not do anything.
So, if you have not checked your side quests yet, now is the time: Free attack and defense buffs are always worth having!
