Some enemies in Monster Hunter Wilds have massive attacks that will one shot every hunter in the area of effects, unless you find some place to hide. This option is sometimes not possible. The only hiding spot may be too far away!
Hunters on Reddit have shared their best mechanics to evade attacks such as the huge Nova from Jin Dahaad!
You Can Teleport Away

The move is rather simple: when he starts to charge his Nova, directly open your map and teleport to any pop-up camp. This allows you to be out of reach the moment the attack hits, and you can simply run back to the location right after.
This method does make you lose some time, but if it prevents you from getting wiped in a single blow, it is worth it.
You can also use a Farcaster item. Those are consumables that will call for a drake to teleport you away. The result is similar, but you lose less time manually opening the map and teleporting away.
You need Smokenuts and Exciteshrooms to craft Farcasters.
Other Evading Method
If you do not want to risk losing time by teleporting and running back, here is another way you can use to prevent getting wiped by similar attacks:
- Bombs:
- put a bomb on the floor and wait until the sound stops
- hit the bomb, which will explode and knock you down on the floor
- when you are on the floor, you take no damage
- this allows you to stay close while not dying, but it requires a bit more specific timing to work
