As you progress in Monster Hunter Wilds, you will encounter specific NPCs that allow you to trade items with them. This system lets you exchange resources, materials, and even rare items with various NPCs. Here are a few basics of item trading, how it works, what you can obtain, and who to trade with!
What is Item Trading in Monster Hunter Wilds?
You encounter your first trader when you complete the Main Mission, The Eye of the Storm in Kunafa. Kilama will take a few resources and give you some meat in exchange.
This is basically how each trader will work in the game: you give them a certain number of a resource, rare item, monster part… and they will give you something else in exchange. The items you can get vary from trader to trader. Some of the Trading NPCs will offer you rarer items than others.
How to Find the Trading NPC
If you are unsure if a trader is nearby or not, you can open your map, and when zooming in you should see the following icon — a sort of hand holding a bag with two arrows:

Once you have located the trader, all you have to do is navigate toward them. They typically unlock after you finish a Main Story quest in the zone. There is always a travel point nearby, allowing you to visit them as often as you want without having to cross the entire map on foot.
When you talk to the trading NPC, the following menu will open, showing you which items you can exchange. It will also tell you if you already possess any of those items or not:

It is also worth noting that once you reach High Rank and Chapter 4, Nata will serve as the village intermediary, allowing you to trade any of the items through him, without having to travel back to each village.
Where are the Trading NPCs Located?
Here is a list of the currently available Trading NPCs and where to locate them:
- Kilama — Kunafa Village, Windward Plains
- Musharpeye — Wudwud Hideout, Scarlet Forest
- Gawdygog — Wudwud Hideout, Scarlet Forest
- Aida — Azuz the Everforge, Oilwell Basin
- Dogard — Azuz the Everforge, Oilwell Basin
- Yabran — Azuz the Everforge, Oilwell Basin
- Rove — Area 20 Ancient Room, Iceshard Cliffs
- Ren — Sild The Keeper’s Vigil, Ruins of Wyveria
- Sekka — Suja Peaks of Accord
The early zones will mostly exchange basic items, monster parts such as Fangs, Mucus, or Plates, Armor Spheres, or Ores. Traders in the Iceshard Cliffs or Ruins of Wyveria, however, will exchange rarer items, including Guardian Monster parts.
We recommend you use trading as a supplement if you are farming for specific items but haven’t had any luck. Trading can help you fill the gaps and speed up the process, especially in the early zones. It is more beneficial to keep your resources for endgame zone trades, as this allows you to get rarer items faster.
