Monster Hunter Wilds: More Settings You Should Change!

Monster Hunter Wilds comes with plenty of customization options, but some settings can completely change how good and responsive combat feels. A few simple adjustments can help with faster aiming, better visibility, and more precise controls, making every hunt feel more fluid.

We previously covered important settings that help improve navigation, HUD clarity, and overall responsiveness. This time, we are focusing on even more changes that will make your hunts feel better, more strategic, and less frustrating!

So, with that in mind, here are the most important settings you might want to change before heading out!

Fix Combat Flow & Stay in Control

  • Turn Off Auto-Sheath (Highly Recommended)
Auto-sheathing can ruin important moments by putting your weapon away when you do not want it to, like when repositioning mid-fight. Disabling this helps to make sure you have full control over when and how you engage.
  • Focus Mode – Toggle or Hold?
The default setting requires holding a button for Focus Mode, but toggling it lets you attack and move more fluidly, especially with weapons like the Insect Glaive.
  • Item Use Type 2 – Faster Healing and Buffs
The default radial menu requires flicking and releasing the right stick, which can feel slow. Switching to Type 2 lets you press to confirm, making healing and buffing mid-fight much more reliable.

Improve Visibility and Awareness

  • Camera Zoom – Increase for Better Tracking
Zooming out gives wider battlefield awareness, making it easier to track large monsters and dodge attacks!

Reduce Screen Clutter in Multiplayer

  • Turn Off Ally Hit Effects
In multiplayer, visual clutter can make fights chaotic. Disabling ally hit effects clears up the screen so you can focus on your own attacks and dodges.
  • Monster Sighting Camera – Disable It
The default setting triggers a cinematic zoom-in every time a new monster appears. Yes, it looks cool, but it disrupts the fight. Disabling it keeps the action flowing.

Adjust Weapon Damage Displays

  • Weapon Attack Power – Show True Raw Damage
By default, attack power includes a coefficient, making numbers look inflated. Disabling it displays real raw damage, helping to compare weapons more accurately.
