In Capcom’s latest streams, we got plenty of details on Monster Hunter Wilds’ toughest endgame challenges: Tempered Monsters and the Artian Weapons you can craft from them. If you are after the hardest hunts and the best gear, here is what you need to know!
Tempered Monsters – An Even Deadlier Challenge
If you have played previous Monster Hunter games, you already know that Tempered Monsters are stronger versions of regular monsters. In Wilds, they are even tougher. They are battle-hardened creatures that are faster, more aggressive, and hit harder than ever, forcing you to stay on your toes.
Tempered Monsters only start appearing after you hit High Rank, so you will not see them right away. But once you do, they will roam the open world and can be saved as Investigation Quests, allowing you to farm them for rewards.

One major change in Wilds is that Tempered Monsters have visible scars that hunters can target to create Wounds. These Wounds act as weak spots, and hitting them with Focus Strikes deals extra damage. This adds a new way to break down even the toughest monsters if you aim your attacks correctly.

Defeating Tempered Monsters rewards you with exclusive materials, including:
- Decorations with multiple skills to boost your build.
- Crafting materials for Artian Weapons, some of the best gear in the game.
Artian Weapons – Gear for the Strongest Hunters
Artian Weapons are powerful endgame weapons crafted using parts from Tempered Monsters. They come with unique stats and abilities, allowing you to freely adjust your loadout depending on your playstyle.
To craft an Artian Weapon, you will need:
- Three Artian Parts of the same rarity (which drop from Tempered Monster hunts).
- Additional materials for upgrades, also obtained from Tempered hunts.
Each weapon type requires specific materials, so you will need to take down multiple Tempered Monsters to forge the full set. Since they are crafted from high-rank monsters, chances are these weapons will be some of the best in the game for endgame content!
TL;DR – Prepare for the Hunt
If you want to progress and upgrade your power in Monster Hunter Wilds, you will need to take on Tempered Monsters and learn their mechanics. Target their Wounds, use Focus Strikes, and collect the best rewards to build an endgame loadout that can handle anything.
But keep in mind that these monsters will definitely not go down easily! However, with the right preparation, their strength will become yours.
