If you are playing Monster Hunter Wilds on Steam and are noticing performance or visual issues, the High Resolution Texture Pack might be the reason.
According to an official update from Capcom earlier today, players with less than 16GB of VRAM might encounter instability, even if they are not actively using the high-res textures in-game. The issue come from the DLC being installed, regardless of the texture settings you choose in the options menu.
To fix this, Capcom recommends disabling the High Resolution Texture Pack entirely. Here is how to do it:
How to Disable the High-Resolution Texture Pack on Steam
- Open your Steam client and go to your Library.
- Right-click on Monster Hunter Wilds and select Properties.
- Go to the DLC tab.
- Uncheck Monster Hunter Wilds – High Resolution Texture Pack from the install list.
- Restart Steam.
Again, Capcom notes that this texture pack requires 16GB or more of VRAM. If your system falls below that threshold, it may cause instability, missing textures, or degraded visuals, even if you have selected lower texture settings in-game.
Unfortunately, no patch has been announced yet, so players with affected hardware will need to disable the DLC manually for now.
