The Monster Hunter Wilds Free Title Update 1 was just released a few hours ago! While there is a lot of new content you can participate in, a lot has also changed. Here are a few things you should remember to do before you participate in the new content!
Uninstall Your Mods
If you were using any kind of mods up until now in Monster Hunter Wilds, we strongly advise you uninstall them for the time being. Capcom severely tightened their policy about this, especially for those participating in the new ranked content: the Arena and Challenge Quests.
You want to uninstall everything before updating your game. If you already installed it, you may also experience issues due to the update overwriting your modded files, so either way, it is best to do this.
If you want to make sure everything is uninstalled, you can also completely uninstall your game, clear all your files, and reinstall it.
This includes any performance mods as well. If you do not intend to participate in the Arena, this may not be an issue. But for those who want to rank on the leaderboard, it is a safe move.
As a reminder, Capcom will ban any player AND their teammates if anyone in the party is suspected of cheating or using any kind of mods, so you may want to be safe.
This is to make sure that players are ranked properly and no one can score faster with the use of any mod.
Unlock The Grand Hub

The Grand Hub will be your main gathering place from now on, and you will want to have access to it right away. So once you get back in the game, head to Suja to the upper area, and go talk to the very big guy inside the tent called Tetsuzan! You need to be Hunter Rank 16+ for this. If you are not, simply continue some quests, and you should meet the requirements soon!
Once you get access to the Grand Hub, the fun can begin! For more information about everything that you can do over there, you can take a look at our in-depth guide:
Grand Hub Guide and OverviewDefeat the New Monsters & Get the Latest Gear
Both Mizutsune and Zoh Shia are directly available after the title update went live, so all you have to do is complete the required quests to unlock them!
For Mizutsune you need to be HR21+ and talk to Kanya (the Fishing NPC) in the Scarlet Forest. Complete the related quest she gives you and defeat regular Mizutsune. This will then unlock the Mizutsune hunt and Tempered Mizutsune. However, you need HR41+ for Tempered Mizutsune. You do not have to complete all of Kanya’s fishing quests to access the Mizutsune one.
Zoh Shia, on the other hand, will require HR50+. You will have to complete another quest that you can unlock through your environment overview in Wyveria. Once completed, it will unlock as a repeatable hunt. However, Zoh Shia will only appear during Wyvern’s Wakening.
Check The New Armor Sets & Weapons
Both Tempered Mizutsune and Zoh Shia will reward you with double materials for your Artian Weapons, which can always help if you want to craft more powerful versions!
On top of that, Mizutsune Armor and Zoh Shia Armor sets may be very useful for some weapons. The BiS meta will most likely change. Our High-Rank Weapon builds will, of course, be updated with new builds if required, so make sure to check back now and then!
Get a Proper Meta Set
So far, you could manage with basic sets or run whatever gear piece you may have managed to craft. However, now is the time to farm for a proper set. The new monsters will be considerably stronger than what you have faced until now. You may not make it through, even in a party, if you do not invest some time first into farming and crafting for a set with proper skill combinations and survivability.
You also want to use your armor spheres to upgrade your gear, as this will give you a massive defense boost.
If you are unsure about what you need for your weapon to tackle TU1, you can take a look at our Weapon Builds:

With the Grand Hub, there are a few mini-games available that you can participate in! While you can not play an unlimited amount of times, you will get tickets each day through the login bonuses. Barrel Bowling, for example, can reward you with some nice items, so do not hesitate to use your tickets!
