We finally have some early stats on endgame weapon usage in Monster Hunter Wilds, courtesy of Balukie. The chart shows what weapons players have been gravitating toward during the first two weeks of post-game content, and there are some interesting trends already.
Here is a breakdown of the current popularity rankings by weapon:
- Long Sword – 15.7%
No surprise here. The Long Sword continues to be a community favorite thanks to its high DPS and flashy counters. - Dual Blades – 12.6%
Speed and elemental damage are king, and Dual Blades are delivering both. Fast-paced and lethal. - Great Sword – 11.5%
Still holding strong with those big, satisfying hits. A good choice for solo hunts and burst windows. - Sword and Shield – 10.1%
Climbing the charts! SnS has always been underrated, but it seems more players are finally realizing its potential. - Bow – 9.8%
The Bow remains a top pick for ranged players. High mobility and damage output keep it competitive. - Charge Blade – 7.7%
A bit lower than expected, but still solid. Complex mechanics might make it less accessible for newer players. - Gunlance – 7.3%
Another weapon that is finding its place. The explosive playstyle clearly has its fans. - Switch Axe – 6.3%
Sitting around the middle. Still effective, but maybe not as popular as in past titles so far. - Heavy Bowgun – 5.9%
Reliable, but slightly edged out by faster playstyles right now. - Insect Glaive – 3.8%
A niche pick for aerial lovers. Not the most popular, but still stylish and mobile. - Hammer – 2.8%
A bit underwhelming in terms of pick rate so far. Might need a shakeup or meta shift to climb higher. - Lance – 2.1%
Still one of the least-used weapons, despite solid defensive potential. - Hunting Horn – 2.1%
Low pick rate, but those who use it know how good it can be in group hunts. - Light Bowgun – 2.1%
Surprisingly low. Possibly due to early gear options or balance shifts.
These numbers might change as balance updates and new builds emerge, but it gives a nice snapshot of how players are currently engaging with the endgame.
