A Palico is a customisable feline companion that accompanies hunters on their adventures, providing assistance in battles and exploration.

MONSTER Art in Monster Hunter Wilds A Palico is a hunter's loyal companion throughout the game, providing invaluable support in battle as well as the ability to gather items. These feline allies main goal is to use a variety of Support moves, each with unique effects to aid you in combat whilst also setting traps and healing. In Monster Hunter Wilds, your furry companion will also now communicate in the same language as your hunter!

Palico Customisation

Upon entering the game, you'll have the opportunity to customise your Palico with a variety of unique features. Below are the different customisation options available:

Feauture Description
Appearance Preset This option lets you choose a preset Palico design if you prefer to use a pre-made template.
Detailed Settings

The detailed settings allow you to customise your Palicos features in more depth:

  • Pattern - A variety of options to change the fur pattern and colours.
  • Long-haired - Allows you to toggle whether your Palico has long or short fur.
  • Ears - Enables you to change the shape, size and fur on the ears.
  • Eyes - Enables you to change the shape, pupil size and colour of the eyes.
  • Facial Fur Type - Allows you to choose from different types of facial hair shapes (Cannot change if Long-Haired is toggled on).
  • Cheek fullness - Changes the roundedness of your Palicos cheeks.
  • Tail shape - Gives you a variety of tail shape options for your Palico (Cannot be changed if Long-Haired is toggled on).
  • Markings 1/2 - Allows you to customise your Palicos markings in detail from type, colour, size, position and visibility.
  • Felyne Language This feature enables you to toggle the Felyne language on or off.
    Voice/ Pitch Allows you to choose different voice options and pitches for your Palico.
    Name This allows you to set or change your Palico's name.

    Additionally you can also change the base, accent, iris and marking colour of your Palico on the next section.

    Once you have created a design for your Palico you can then confirm the design and launch the game. You then later have the option of editing Palico features should you choose to do so by accessing the main menu once again.

    Deploying a Palico

    Your Palico will automatically join you as soon as you embark on a quest, ready to assist you in combat whilst providing valuable support throughout your adventures.

    You can also chose to not deploy your Palico if you choose not to.

    Palico Equipment Type

    Palico Equipment types in Monster Hunter Wilds Each piece of equipment a Palico wields comes with its own unique effects, influencing both its combat behaviour against monsters and the ways it supports the hunter. A Palicoes equipment also acts similarly to that of a hunter.

    A Palico's equipment is made up of three distinct components, each crafted from different materials. These components include:

    • Palico Head
    • Palico Gear
    • Palico Weapon

    Palico Support Moves

    Palico support Skills are specialised actions performed during combat, each designed to provide a unique effect. These skills can range from offensive strikes and defensive manoeuvrers to healing and buffing abilities, all aimed at assisting the hunter and enhancing their overall effectiveness in battle.

    Status Menu

    The Palico Status Menu, found under Base Camp Menu > Change Palico Equipment, displays a detailed breakdown of your Palico's stats. Here, you can view key attributes such as Level, Attack Status, Defense Status, and the specific components within each of these.

    5.1.

    Palico Level

    The exact leveling system for Palicoes in Monster Hunter Wilds remains uncertain at this time. However, we can speculate that it may work as follows:

    To level up your Palico, you must bring them along on battles and adventures, where they will gain experience and progressively increase in level.

    5.2.

    Attack Status

    The attack status displays several key attributes. One of these is the Palicoes combat style. For example Melee or Ranged, along with its corresponding value. Additionally, it provides details on the attack type, such as damage type, elemental properties, and Affinity.

    Defense Status

    The defense status shows different types of resistance the Palico has to elements as well as its defense stats. These elements include:

    • Fire Res
    • Water Res
    • Thunder Res
    • Ice Res
    • Dragon Res

    Each of these key components are effected by the Palicoes Equipment, Head Gear and Body Gear that is equipped on the Palico at that time.
