Rompopolo Combat Guide

Let’s break down Rompopolo’s strengths, weaknesses, attack patterns, and the best ways to fight him. If you want to maximize your damage output and secure a faster kill, it’s highly recommended to bring a water-elemental weapon. Rompopolo is equally susceptible to all status effects including sleep, paralysis, blast, and stun, but poison is noticeably less effective against him. Flash pods, shock traps, and pitfall traps all work well, but sonic bombs won’t do you any good here.

Overall, Rompopolo is a fairly straightforward monster to deal with, and his move set isn’t overly complicated. If you’re positioned in front of him, he’ll often swipe at you with his arms one after the other. He can also release a stream of toxic purple gas from his beak, so avoid lingering directly in front of him. Occasionally, he’ll swing both arms together for a wide claw swipe aimed at your face.

If you stand in front of him too long, he may also bring both arms down for a slam attack. Thankfully, there’s a slight delay, giving you enough time to counter, guard, offset, or simply dodge out of harm’s way. On top of that, he has a short-range charge attack where he lunges forward and tries to bite you twice.

That said, Rompopolo’s tail is arguably more of a threat than his frontal attacks. Every so often, he’ll perform a 180-degree spin, smacking you with his tail in the process. If you stick behind him for too long, he’ll also whip his tail from side to side. Both of these moves are relatively easy to block, counter, or offset if you’re ready for them. His tail is also equipped with a stinger, which he will sometimes drive into the ground. Once the stinger is buried, he’ll create puddles on the ground nearby that will explode after a brief delay, so it’s critical to reposition yourself away from them as soon as they appear.

Rompopolo’s signature move involves him planting himself firmly on the ground using his tail stinger, generating even more explosive puddles in a wider radius around him. This is his most powerful and defensive move, designed to force you off of him. The best strategy here is to consistently target his inflated tail. Once you inflict enough damage, Rompopolo will deflate, disabling his ability to create explosive puddles.

Enraged State

As an early game monster Rompopolo doesn't really do anything special during the enrage stage. He likes to put up explosive puddles more often and just attacks a bit more aggressively. Just be a bit extra cautious and you'll be completely fine.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Rompopolo isn’t a difficult monster to face, but the puddles can become a nuisance if you aren’t paying attention. The most efficient tactic is to focus on attacking his tail whenever possible. It’s a prime weak spot and deflating it removes a significant part of his threat. Use whichever weapon you feel most comfortable with—none of his moves are particularly difficult to read or avoid. However, if you do run into trouble, don’t hesitate to make use of traps, flash pods, or any environmental hazards nearby. Stick to this strategy, and before long, Rompopolo will be deflated and defeated.
