Blunderbuss PvP Builds

In PvP the Blunderbuss is known for its high damage abilities and burst potential. It is also recognized for its utility through its anti-heal debuffs, defensiveness, and crowd-control. This weapon acts as the spotlight for many one-shot combinations, and it is loved across a variety of light and medium armor builds in PvP. It shines in light armor with the Ice Gauntlet or War Hammer to focus healers and other priority targets. It can be played with the same weapons in medium, which allow for defensive bruiser players to have suprising burst with amazing point control and CC abilities. All builds will prioritize playing with an elemental damage emphasis. The abilities of the Blunderbuss will deal a large amount of Fire damage, and this has a significant impact on players who are optimized for physical defensiveness. At times, the weapon can be awkward to use or be difficult to register hits with. It can also feel as though it has no mobility when used poorly. Nonetheless, all of these builds allow the hybrid weapon to shine as a pivotal tool in any army or War scenario.

Blunderbuss Burst (Light Armor) - PvP

This is one of many Blunderbuss builds in New World, but it focuses on light armor usage to provide incredible burst damage with aimed Blunderbuss shots and its abilities, as well as, very lethal Ice Spikes Ice Spikes. It is very defensive and can easily lock down targets to kill healers and other priority players. While it emphasizes burst damage, it also has incredible AoE output.

3.

Blunderbuss Hammer Assassin

This is a unique backline dive build that can easily full kill enemies, deal incredibly high damage, and is very easy to pull off as long as you can land one ability. It does lack mobility and defensiveness at times, but its crowd-control makes up for that. To play this properly it will require great positioning and movement. When used correctly you will learn how to pick single targets and take advantage of a very easy to learn one-shot combo that will be enjoyable to perform time and time again.

4.

Frontline Blunderbuss (Medium Armor) - PvP

This build is similar to the light armor variant because of its focus on the Blunderbuss as the primary weapon. The difference is that it uses the Ice Gauntlet more like a Support Mage where it has great crowd-control. This then allows the player to be in the frontlines and even when they are in medium armor they can quickly burst down players with their Blunderbuss. It will rely more on aimed shots for damage output and really only look to use the Ice Gauntlet for its crowd-control. It differs from Support Mages because it does have more burst potential. This can help to put pressure on healers and other light armor players, but still have point presence.

5.

Blunderbuss Hammer Bruiser

This build will use a standard bruiser crowd-control weapon--the War Hammer--to establish point presence and setup kills for damage focused players. With that being said, having a Blunderbuss with this build will allow you to potentially pick up a quick kill. It differs from the light variant by providing a much more defensive setup that will enable you to more easily use crowd-control abilities in more beneficial locations in the middle of a clump fight. You will have less damage, but it will still be significantly more than other medium bruisers. This build is a bit more versatile and not as focused on single-target damage, it prioritizes team value more than being a solo kill machine.
