General Information

Welcome to our PvP builds page for Hatchet. Here, we provide builds for use in PvP encounters.

1.

Hatchet PvP Builds

In PvP the Hatchet is known for its defensiveness and survivability. Defy Death Defy Death gives many weapons the freedom to play very aggressively because of its life-saving potential. The Hatchet is not frequently seen as a primary source of damage, and is widely regarded for its secondary utility through its abilities. It also shines for its subtle movement abilities and crowd-control on a single target.

Additionally, with New World: Aeternum's new auto-tracking system, this weapon is especially powerful, as the tracking of the light and heavy attacks are very accurate (making it even better options for console players specifically to help with overall aiming).

2.

Greatsword Hatchet Dive Assassin (Light or Medium)

This is one of the most powerful assassin builds in New World. The Greatsword is a fantastic damage option in PvP with some of the best gap closing abilities. It is made even more powerful by pairing it with a Hatchet to increase survivability.

3.

Sword and Shield Backline Assassin (Light or Medium)

This is a highly mobile dive assassin that takes advantage of the Sword and Shield's crowd-control. It is heavily focused on single-target damage and being able to lockdown one target at a time and escape.

4.

Spear Hatchet Dive

This can be played in light for more of assassin feel, or medium to play more like a bruiser. It will use Spear for its burst down and ability to perform crowd-control combos to lock players in place while doing incredible burst damage. The Hatchet provides survivability and defensiveness.

5.

Bow and Hatchet

The Bow is a high damage ranged weapon that will always use its secondary for its support and utility. For those who do not want a high mobility secondary, the Hatchet can be great for surviving bursts of damage from other ranged players, or to survive and break out of crowd-control from melee.

Healing

Some players feel more comfortable playing with a Hatchet because of its high level of defensiveness and survivability. This can be a life-saver as it prevents death and adds another way to break out of crowd-control effects.

If you wish to play with a Life Staff in this way, please reference our PvP healing builds and pair it with the PvP utility Hatchet:
