Music Trade Skill Guide for New World Aeternum
Welcome to the ultimate Music guide for New World: Aeternum, where you'll master the craft of playing instruments, receiving tips, and providing great buffs to yourself and your allies.
Music Overview in New World: Aeternum
Music in New World: Aeternum is one of the few "casual" trade skills that are in the game. However, the buffs are far from casual, as they can provide you and your allies major buffs with a variety of benefits, including increased group experience, territory standing bonus, yield, gathering speed, gathering experience, and more.
Mastering the Music trade skill will maake everyone wanting to be your best friend, as the buffs you provide can be shared with those surrounding you as well. In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about the Music trade skill, including the available instruments, every song available and what they do, how to make some easy "tips" after playing songs, and more.
Choosing an Instrument
While leveling up the Music trade skill, you will have the option to use one of five different instruments. It is important to note that one instrument is not better than another, and they do not outperform each other. The primary difference is the small "puzzle" that appears on the screen when playing a chosen song, which doesn't range much at all in regards to level of difficulty.
The instruments available to choose from are the drums, upright bass, azoth flute, guitar, and mandolin. In order to craft these instruments, you will have to use the Engineering trade skill.
Please note: If you are playing in a band with other players, you will unable to play the same instrument as someone else in the band. You must all be using a unique instrument.
Best Instrument Perks
Just like how armor, weapons, and gathering tools have unique perks, so does music! Some of these perks tend to be better than others, as they provide unique buffs to you when playing an instrument. The perks below tend to be the most sought-after on instruments.
Music Songs and Buffs
The primary purpose of the Music trade skill is to provide unique buffs to not only the musician(s) playing the song, but also those that tip the musican(s) after the song has been completed.
Below is a full list of every song, what level they are unlocked, and the maximum buff they can provide once played.
- Level 2: Decidedly Dexterous — increases gathering speed
- Level 5: Territorial Triumph — increases territory standing bonus
- Level 25: All Together Now — increases group experience charing bonus
- Level 75: Song In Your Step: — reduces player encumbrance
- Level 100: Fortune's Favor — increases yield when gathering
- Level 150: Luck's Labor — increases luck when gathering
- Level 205: Never Stop Learning — increases experience for non-fishing gathering trade skills
How to Make Gold with Music
When compared to other trade skills, Music is likely not the most profitable. However, there is an in-game funtionality that allows players to directly "tip" players after completing a song. This will award the musician(s) with a small amount of gold, and will also reward the individual that tipped the musician with the provided buff from whichever song is played.
Please note: If you are trying to make the most gold as possible through "tips", it is recommended to play songs within highly-populated towns, such as Windwards of Everfall. The more people that surround you when you play a song, the more chances there are at getting some tips.
