Welcome to the ultimate guide for farming mystic doubloons in New World: Aeternum. Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned veteran, this guide will provide valuable strategies, tips, and tricks to help you maximize the amount of Mystic Doubloons in your pocket!
Mystic Doubloon Farming Guide for New World: Aeternum
As you progress further and further into the lands of Aeternum, you will eventually come across the Cutlass Keys territory. This territory was recently revamped into an extremeley dangerous area, full of not only high-level mobs, but also other players! With the official launch of New World: Aeternum comes an all-new currency that can only be found in the Cutlass Keys territory - Mystic Doubloons.
These doubloons can be farmed anywhere throughout the Cutlass Keys area, including the new PvP zone known as "The Cursed Mists". Mystic Doubloon farming is actually most efficienct in The Cursed Mists, as all chests that you gather provide a higher amount of doubloons than the chests outside of the PvP zone. Plus, all mobs (especially named enemies) have a chance of dropping doubloons, making it even more efficient to farm doubloons in this area. However, there's a catch.
The doubloons that you gather in this territory are known as "Cursed Doubloons", and they won't transform into Mystic Doubloons until you leave the PvP zone, which cleanes them automatically in your inventory. Keep in mind though, that when you enter The Cursed Mists you are automatically flagged for PvP, allowing any other player in the area to attack you. If another player (or even a mob) ends up defeating you in this area, you will drop 50% of your curse doubloons, losing out on potentially a large chunk of Mystic Doubloons.
In this guide, we'll review the best farming routes and techniques for gathering Mystic Doubloons, the most efficient ways to spend them, and an overview of the new PvP zone, The Cursed Mists.

Cutlass Keys Quests
One of the very first things you should do when entering the Cutlass Keys territory is accept as many quests as possible. Almost every quest in this area now provides a unique reward that includes 35 (or more) mystic doubloons - which adds up very quickly. Some of these quests do not even require you to enter the PvP zone, making it safe and efficient.
Mystic Doubloon Farming Routes
As mentioned, there are a range of ways on how you can gather doubloons throughout Cutlass Keys, and one of the most effective ways is to follow specific routes based on treasure chest locations. The three routes below highlight the most effective farming routes in The Cursed Mists, and highlights the locations of all chests in each route.
The red circles indicate Elite chests, and the green circles indicate supply chests.
Route 1: The Citadel
The Citadel is located in the far western side of The Cursed Mists - which is the deepest you can get in this PvP zone. With that being said, it's also the riskiest, as it's the furthest area away from cleansing your stash of doubloons as well. It is best to follow this route in a circular motion, where you start on the outter area of the red circle above, and work your way towards the center of The Citadel, where most players will be testing their luck at the many elite chests in the area.
Route 2: Pond Scum Port
The Pond Scum Port is the next route worth highlighting, as it is likely the safest route out of the three showcased here, and still has a great amount of chests (and named enemies), resulting in quick, easy doubloons. If you are looking to get some fast mystic doubloons, this is the route for you. It's also a great route to follow if you wanted to quickly get your Goldcursed Coconut for the week (which can only be obtained once a week in an Elite chest in The Cursed Mists).
Route 3: Flotsam Gate
The Flotsam Gate route is the perfect balance between risk and reward. It's a very easy and straight-forward route to follow, and it's slightly closer to the center of the PvP zone when compared to the Pond Scum Port route. This area is very open though - so be cautious of potentially getting shot at by some ranged players that might be looking for a quick kill.
Well of Fortune
After gathering Mystic Doubloons, you will be given the opportunity to exchange them for rare items at the Well of Fortune within the main city in Cutlass Keys. There is a large range of items offered in the Well of Fortune, but only a few of these items are worth the investment. These items can be found below.
Item | Cost |
---|---|
Ghostly Touch (Medium Gloves Artifact) | 6,000 Doubloons |
Survivor's Coat (Heavy Chest Artifact) | 6,000 Doubloons |
Survivor's Coat (Heavy Chest Artifact) | 6,000 Doubloons |
Glittering Gold Key (x1 per week) | 5 Doubloons |
Goldcursed Epic Crate (x3 per day) | 35 Doubloons |
It is important to keep a close eye on how some of these items are time-gated, such as the Glittering Gold Key. It is always worth buying this item, as it will allow you to unlock a locked chest in the Cutlass Keys PvP zone that could have 500+ Mystic Doubloons within it. You can only purchase this once a week - so be sure to get it when you can!
Additionally, it is worth testing your luck and purchasing 3 Goldcursed Epic Crates per day. These chest have a small chance of instantly providing you with a 725 geasrscore item - saving you a lot of time and resources in the long run.
The Cursed Mists Overview (PvP Zone)
The Cursed Mists holds the perfect balance of risk and reward, and is great to spend some time at after reaching max level. In this area, you can not only farm doubloons and resources, but also hunt other players and loot a large portion of what they've gathered as well.
